i think that is what resident evil resistance was supposed to be. Not the entirely imposter part, but an oppossing player to spice things up. Outbreak does get solved, and it becomes more of a run it again, know where each random spawn could be, and clear the stage as fast as you can. It would be fun early on, but getting pretty boring and bland. A solution, is if they were a live service and DLC game. I am not particular in favor of that, but it would be a way to add in new maps, mechanics, rebalances, and introduce new elements. I think they choosed the resistance route, so that ppl won't get bored with an oppossing player creating new game flow each time, without having to heavily work on it for content. Just the occassional content update leisurely. I think resistance failed, because the truth is that the online market for this type of game is really not that big. I speculate that the real larger audience and people who thoroughly enjoyed it mostly enjoyed the offline play, and it is mainly the vocal minority talking that comes from the online side is why we ended up with resident evil resistance. You see the numbers, and either A. people who talked about more outbreak online stuff enver touched it B. There are barely anyone who plays it because online and pvp/avp wasn't the main draw for why they loved the game. I for one, enjoyed the offline experience mainly, due to not having ps net back then. In hindsight now, I would have likely not liked the online play. I learned to play around the AI and abuse them. I learned how to clear the maps, how to management items and item spawns, and deal with all the situations the game had to offer. Truth be told, I would hate a imposter mechanic in the game, and would not touch the game. It would be nothing like the original outbreak, and i would not enjoy getting screwed by social gameplay in a game that I am trying to clear objectives.
Also, in RE 3 Remake as you walk the streets with Jill and pass a cop car, you can hear Kevin Ryman asking for back-up on the radio because he’s locked in a bar with other survivors.
O.o I never noticed that! But I did notice how they brought up Alyssa back in re7. Gotta admit I love the references :) still hoping they remake it though
@@cloudsombrero Yeah, I realized it was the wrong area I mentioned after playing again later, bad memory sorry. Yes, the officer in RE3R says I am trapped near the cafeteria with three other survivors but does not mention his name. I do not believe, nor could I find if capcom ever came out and confirmed if it was him or not. Although, I have seen videos/info online imply that if it is Kevin, he would be from Outbreak File #2 in the Zoo Level at the Elephant Restaurant. Why I think it can be Kevins voice is because first Capcom gave us an easter egg in RE7 with a file named "Newspaper Article - Over 20 Missing" written by Alyssa Ashcroft. So, with a character name drop after so long I thought for sure they were working on an Outbreak Remake but no. Then they teased me again when playing RE3R, there is a poster for the Elephant Restaurant in the streets of Raccoon city and then hearing what I thought was Kevin's voice (I want to believe that's him) and thought okay for sure this time they're working on a remake, but still no..
@@KevinHelpUs I just found your channel and just finished the video. I think your idea of a traitor could be a great game mode, but I wouldn't want it being the gameplay gimmick the game is built on.
Just leave the damn formula alone! Outbreak is fucking amazing because it was an RE game that played like an RE game with randomized loot, more enemies, respawning enemies and no pausing menu. It doesn't need to play loke project resistance or goddamn dead by daylight. It needs to play like re2 remake with the above features + character specific/Non game breaking abilities like a dodge or kick as the original. DONT FICK WITH SOMETHING THAT WORKED. You'll just break it. It's perfectly repayable. That's why many of us STILL play it. The same reason we STILL play the main titles. Plus in Outbreak you could kill your teammates if you chose too. You don't need a set imposter role when anyone can just decide to be a dickhead and murk you for your ammo
I certainly love the original, and I would want a ‘classic’ mode with no new mechanics - just updated graphics and better load times, but do you think Outbreak would set itself apart from the crowd in today’s multiplayer market?
@@KevinHelpUs the outbreak games are very different from whats out there today, and thats exactly what would set them apart, but better yet, why not add the maps that were removed? maybe other removed things.
@@KevinHelpUs I think its funny how you say set it apart from other games by including things from other games to set it apart. However I think that they should release a good and complete game, so no day one dlc or any weapon dlc to give an edge on other players. Include a proximity chat and up the horror, to keep communication but limit it. More enemies that can follow around to up the moment to moment horror. And make new enemies if theyre gonna reboot the whole series why limit to remakes of existing monsters, this is the time to get creative and add new lore and enemies. Keep story and cutscenes and dont make their personalities characatures like in back 4 blood. And maybe include a pre re4 merchant to buy little tools that can help you before the start or during a level,if during a level dont make him a guarantee. Keep dlc cosmetic and affordable and I think co op should be max 4 players. This is a time to be creative so introduce new maps we havent seen after the ones we have seen as DLC , keep it affordable 10$ for a new mappack every few months wouldnt be awful. This whole setting can be used to make new characters and stories so like that in of itself could be a big selling point with fans.
I think there would be enough tinkering required that it would require a remake. I'm not saying my idea is perfect or the only solution, but there's some kinks that would need to be ironed out.
@@KevinHelpUs My argument to combat that is - if two fans were able to collect the data by themselves with little resources of their own to retain the means to keep the original online for 20 years, I think Capcom can expend a tiny budget to remaster this themselves. The server means are even open source so they could easily work on that; given it is by default their property. I find it ridiculous that amateurs seem able to do part time for a passion project, what professional corporations can't seem to even grasp full time for a profit.
i'd make it kind of roguelike where the scenarios tweak between each other and worked kind of as a randomizer, changing not only a few aspects but more, it could even be a mode, actually... i'd leave the game as it is, maybe improve the IA a bit and just include different mods or even a builder so players can make their own scenarios
Friends, those of you who live in the United States and have a lot of strength in the games market because it is a priority should make a community, a request, something that Capcom could listen to and make requests from fans. Here in Brazil, there are a good bunch of people who love this title “resident evil outbreak”. And we all have this dream of being able to play this game again. For me, it really stood out because I spent many hours on the PS2 playing it.
Same here, my friend! I love the re outbreak series, never got to play it online, but I've learned how to work with the ai to play it xD and have been wanting them to remake it since ps3 so that I can play with my friends. Heck, you can still play online with the Japanese version but sadly I don't have that version
@@Grac3AndP3ac3 Sorry, I'm just now able to see your message. Capcom was doing a poll on which games we'd like to see again. I voted twice, the first was for the Resident Evil outbreak and the other was Dino Crises 2. You have to piss them off on Twitter. Even my favorite game, which is Metal Gear Solid 3, Konami came back from the dead and made it from scratch LOL
Man...Outbreak was special to me. I was a PS2 Final Fantasy XI player so I had the Hard Drive and Ethernet necessary to enjoy OB 1 and 2 at peak performance. I would often switch back and forth between both and sort of lumped them together. Whether by luck or not I ended up falling in with a group of older players who showed me the best way to enjoy the game. We mostly got on there to shoot the shit with each other then when conversation hit a lull...we would do a scenario run on Very Hard mode. Everybody was mature so the conversation was definitely of higher quality, and all of us were veteran RE players capable of splitting objectives up and crushing scenarios or getting others SP items for the char skins (I was a tradesman IRL, so Club attire David was my go-to). The beauty of Outbreak (and Final Fantasy 11 as well) was that they were games with a pretty steep difficulty curve and the people who got the most out of those experiences were those who had a hold on their ego and could work cooperatively with people often of vastly different cultural backgrounds. Both games fostered some pretty deep and long lasting friendships for me. Multiplayer games are always nothing more than a playground, and the quality of the experience is directly related to the quality of the people you roll with. And I was truly fortunate...as both Outbreak and FFXI got me to meet some of the best people a guy could pal around with all around the US. Some of whom became lifelong friends I am connected to even over a decade later.
I disagree with outbreak not having enough replayability. There are so many alternate endings and paths to the scenarios in that game that make it worth replaying alone. Plus the showdown modes were basically like mercenaries for outbreak
Plus Capcom could keep making chapters in various parts of Raccoon City. We don't care about modern graphics so they could just keep releasing old school games. I hope they get a clue someday.
I'm not a huge fan of co-op online play, but I am a huge Resident Evil fan. I remember buying the network adapter just so I could play this. You would have to wait in the lobby FOREVER before the match would start. But once it got going it was okay. I really want Capcom to remake this because of how far online play has come. Also not just that but if you choose offline. The AI has increased drastically so your computer controlled teammates won't be dumber than a box of rocks. All in all, if they remake it....I'll buy it. But this is also coming from someone that actually liked to RE3 remake. I just want to see the beautiful updated graphics. To me these games are works of art and definitely deserve an update. Outbreak was, as you said, geared toward more of the common citizens of Raccoon. What would you and I be like in their situation? Would you work in tandem with your group or everyman for himself? These decisions would have an effect on gameplay and ending. I loved it!
hmm maybe allow community maps? something that made Left 4 dead survive for this long is that even when the vanilla maps are done the community made maps that prolonged the life of the game and increased replayability. But i do agree that a among us style game is kinda interesting. Who knows this maybe a start of a whole genre. I wonder how will this work for fps thou.
One thing I can think of how a Outbreak remake can work out while still maintaining the feel of the classics, Proximity Chat. You can communicate through mics but can only do so when you're within a certain distance from each other and only at varying volumes.
Think about all those locked doors in the outbreak games that there was no way to open. If they remade this game, they could add new material just based on the locked and unused doors. It would be a way of keeping the nostalgia while also adding new material. Also, I'd like to see an option to play in vr and fixed camera angles.
I think something like nemesis lockdown would be neat. Where each character has their own objective that they try to complete and may chose to ignore help or sabotage the other players. I dont know about having the assassination contracts like lockdown. But along the same lines as that game.
A remaster or a remake with just a simple camera and movement change. Keep the traditional RE combat system that is influenced by abilities and items stats. What made outbreak great was the game being traditional RE survival horror on its highest difficulty. Even without online multiplayer, the game was a great single player experience that just need fixing of the AI partners and load times. Outbreak main focus is Player vs environments and any player vs player interaction can be justified as zombification or people being destructively selfish during a disaster. Working together, survival on your own (lone wolf mode)or using your partners as meat shield are all viable options that reflect player’s choices and skills. If a team mate is being an unreasonable asshole be glad friendly fire is an option as you kill them and loot their bodies. Outbreak reminds folks that our characters are ordinary people with no plot armor and there are multiple endings to reflect that. A similar game that reminds me of outbreak and getting hype by popular streamers is the Fear and Hunger series especially the 2nd game called Termina. I recommend you check it out.
If I was going to remake of RE-Outbreak, I would add these things. Each scenario should have 5 ways to escape it, making two of the options viable for each run and random item placement and completely random codes and passwords. Without saying with today tech load times, should be gone voice chat should be proxie, and the big one 3rd person camera(gross I know) With the expanded maps should have 6 item slots. Some should take up 2 space ie shotguns. Big one and unknown how this would work. There should be a 8 player map so very big like the whole police station, clock tower hospital, or dead factory.
Hell yes remake this and outbreak file 2 as well with the rest of the ones that haven’t been brought to the new re engine this game was awesome when I played it as a kid but never got to play with anyone so would love to play an updated version with friends
Outbreak has always been my favourite RE game (the first I played in the franchise). I love it. The imposter theme sounded good. But should have 3 options . 1 to include it, 2 to not , 3 for the game to decide at random whether or not to. It’d be cool to see the OG cast of outbreak introduced as well as them included in resistance. They could even include resistance as another game mode in it . Then like DBD release different skins for survivors . Or new survivors with new abilities etc
Make outbreak "openworld". Pick your survivors with unique skills and then ramdom generate events like safecodes be different, you get a random key that not always open the door you want. This also creats replayability because everything randomized
I think Scavenger / Open world type of game could be a good base for Outbreak remake. Explore the raccon city, survive the outbreak, gather resource to help you escape the city. And each scenario can be turn into dungeon or mission. Think of it as Village and 2 Remake combine into one game. You can running around the city , gather more resource , or clear the mission to get even more reward that could help you improve the chance of survival.
I think as As of RESIDENT EVIL OUTBREAK FILE 1 AND 2 COULD INCLUDE THE MYSTERY OF BILLY COEN as of REBECCA CHAMBERS letting him off the hook and how ENRICO MARINI disapears and the story of BRIAN IRONS CHIEF OF RPD AND UMBRELLA WORKING TOGETHER or just make a OPEN WORLD RESIDENT EVIL SUCH AS A STORY like survivors meeting others along the way from each senario and having choices where they live or die and depending on the choices they make 👍
What Resident Evil really needs is an open world Raccoon City game. Mansion and forest included. A big fully interactive and explorable Raccoon City map. We've heard Capcom brag about redesigning Raccoon City fully for RE 2 and 3 remakes yet we only have very limited access to the city.
Operation Raccoon City needs to be remade so bad. That game was so much fun even though the controls weren't the best and the story was mid. Imagine that game remade in the RE Engine with more ways to customize the operators, maybe talent trees or perks or whatever man that would be amazing. I buy a copy for myself and all my friends
If they made an open world map like the divisions with all the iconic locations each location having an hour plus of game play that gives you an item to unlock more areas of the map . That would be a fun game to play .
Outbreak, with an imposter/ resistance mastermind mix with it to keep it fresh. They can even move around key items on the map before the level starts.
Outbreak stories were so interesting. because it was other stories inside the outbreak , just short stories that make you wonder what else was going on within the city struggle. Way ahead of it’s time.
As far as I know there has been no mention of what became of RC after the missile strike from 1998. Outbreak 2 has a CGI cutscene at the very end implying Umbrella is conducting BOW tests in the rubble of the city.@@KevinHelpUs
For me This game was always my favorite and I always considered it way ahead of its time. These games managed to capture the fixed camera angle survival horror og feel with the fun of playing with friends. My cousin and I played it and we spoke over our boost mobile walkie talkie phones lol. So much nostalgic feelings from this video. I would love to see this remade with and upgraded form of the original including all the cut content, then a modern version. I always thought an open world re game but with old school mechanics would be amazing but I know thats an extremely niche group. Thanks for making this video I hope that it happens.
11:20 there's also the elephant restaurant flyer you see on the grocery store window, and the police officer Jill hears when she walks past a police car outside of the RPD who a lot of people think is Kevin Ryman
@@KevinHelpUs I kinda think it is but it could also just be a random thing they put in too honestly, but I also think capcom could have an outbreak remake in the pipeline and if they don’t maybe they’ve put all these outbreak references in to gauge the community’s reaction before fully committing to an official remake? I guess anything’s possible lol capcom loves throwing curveballs
@@KevinHelpUs I could see that as a more serious, surroundings awareness Kevin Ryman from a remake perspective. I don't know where North Garden would fit into an Outbreak remake, but I'm sure it's possible off screen if characters try to keep Bob alive a little longer. Like remember the images you unlock whenever you do stuff in the story? Maybe put some comic-style Lore into it to show events that happened off screen and/or even bring back Ghost Survivors as a canon mode to show things that happen to other survivors off screen, like Rita Phillips. Poor woman. Do you know about the canon lore of Resident Evil: Outbreak?
Your idea of an "Among Us" for a replayability is actually a good one. Also, Capcom could easily monetize RE Outbreak since, as I remember, RE Outbreak used to have a marketplace where you could buy characters/art/etc. with points earned by replaying the scenarios; they could put all that content behind a goddamn (😂) battlepass or marketplace (sadly, that gaming today). I wish we had a RE Outbreak, is up there in my Top 3 RE games and I have so many good memories
I fell in love with this game when it came out, and actually couldn't believe I was playing an online RE game. Now I wish they'd bring it to Steam with Online capabilities, and boom, instant amounts of fun. I'm sure modders would quickly make HD updates and what not for the game.
Capcom needs to listen to the community Outbreak 1 and 2 where ahead of their time, and I think if Racoon city was done in the vein of Outbreak it would have been a lot more well received.
they should take note of lethal company next, could be interesting, then again that's a very communication based game and I can't imagine capcom doing that right
My buddy and I have been dying for an outbreak remake. If I remember correctly, umbrella chronicles had an Ada level take place directly after the last level in outbreak 1
Rather than creating the game RE resistance, They should remake RE: evil outbreak instead and turn it into a Co-op game. Then they could add more playable characters in future update, event, etc. Turning it into survival fun experience, Then in VS. mode they could just add enemies as playable that trying to push back or stop the survivors, Its like Left 4 dead in unique way but its fun since its have different approach of endings.
I'm a newbie at the Resi series, and didn't understand why a lot of people were talking about Outbreak a lot. But hearing the mechanics explained this way, it sounds so cool! I wish this gets a remake.
ah yes, that resident evil i played long ago and never thought of coming back to until recently but couldn't remember the name. i might play more than the first lever next time.
I did not understand Resi evil Outbreak file 2 with Zoo Animals because the first time I heard any thing such as creatures evil was Resi Evil 0 where Edward is attacked and just nearly makes it through a train window telling Rebecca to be careful because there are evil dogs and zombies and bats and birds but no elephants or lions or tigers as such 🤔
Majority of the scenarios take place before the first half of RE3 [2020], though. I think that a remake could theoretically work, we would just need to place Desperate Times at a point where it lines up with Carlos showing up at the R.P.D., but the characters need to be elsewhere for it to make sense. Like the Cutscene of Marvin getting bit by Brad will auto trigger sometime after the event of us getting Rita into the statue, not sure when, but the rest of the playthrough of Desperate Times still goes on, however, I think some changes need to be made for the end part of the playthrough where it's a time consuming battle between us and the Zombies. We would have too set up the plywood boards at the other doorways/corridors near the main gate. The only difference(s) for the other scenarios is: In Canonical Order Outbreak comes first Hellfire comes second Wild Things comes third The Hive [Raccoon General, or Spencer Memorial from the Remakes all 8 Characters come together] comes fourth Below Freezing Point [NEST, the 8 characters stick together.] comes fifth Desperate Times [R.P.D. The 8 Characters stick together for] comes last [^ These are all of the scenarios that originally happen in canonical order before Jill finds Marvin unconscious in the Police Station. So the way this will work is that Desperate Times should take place on the 29th when Carlos heads to the Station with Tyrell.] In Canonical Order after Desperate Times: Flashback [Two of the side characters dies just before this Scenario starts.] Flashback [You're probably thinking.."Wait, again?". Yes with good reason, because it's actually here that the 8 characters are split up after the R.P.D., where 4 Characters go into the abandoned hospital, and the other 4 just arrive at the Cabin. This event of the split up is actually caused within the same event where two of the side characters die. In this part of the scenario, you actually don't go across the bridge and instead wait inside of the Cabin until a cutscene is triggered. The difference for this part of the scenario should be triggered canonically via which characters you play as. If you play as Alyssa, then the cutscene that plays is the guy who enters the Cabin, where as if you play as David the cutscene is different and actually shows the bridge collapsing.] Underbelly [It's the same team from the 1st Flashback. Here it is Dusk because it took them a long time to get back to the city from the Arklay Forest. Underbelly's intro cutscene is them running through the Horde and end up in the subway. This is also the night where Resident Evil 2 takes place and the night Marvin originally wakes up long after Jill leaves the R.P.D.] Decisions, Decisions [v Both scenarios take place at the same time. Team A's lead is George. Team A consists of George, Yoko, Kevin & Alyssa. After the events of Flashback, the Team heads back to the R.P.D. where it's in shambles due to the massacre from the Zombies from Desperate Times. The R.P.D. is overrun with the undead so going topside into the station is very dangerous. They instead go into the Parking Garage where George finds a letter from Peter Jenkins and that's what leads them to the Raccoon University. After the explosion of the university, it's the same Firefighters from Hellfire who comes to pick you up at the end of the scenario] End of the Road [^ Both scenarios take place at the same time. Team B's lead is David. If you did the Flashback Scenario as David without crossing the bridge and helping the mother, David should immediately spawn in with the Shotgun E that the mother gives him. Another change that needs to be made is that the child shouldn't be left behind since the mother got infected while she and her daughter were on the run. Maybe bring them both along to the Umbrella Facility. After Underbelly, Team B heads to one of the branches/facilities of Umbrella for an alternate means of escape from the city. I believe that this is either the main topside facility of NEST 2 from RE3 [2020], or it's possibly the facility the USS goes to in Operation Raccoon City to obtain the Ne-a Parasite from the incapacitated T-103 but on October 1st. (That's my theory for End of the Road's Umbrella Facility. I'm not saying that ORC is canon or anything, but this could technically work out by remaking some events from the game to be canon from Umbrella's perspective into Outbreak. Kills two birds with one stone.] The ending cutscene for Outbreak File #2 is only partially non-canon, the Nuke used to destroy the city is actually the one from the first Outbreak. So the only change that needs to happen here is that maybe turn those into drone strikes to destroy the thruways earlier on in the remake of Outbreak. Maybe bring back Ghost Survivors but actually make it canon to the story this time like 4th Survivor by focusing on key canon characters and what happened to them off screen, like how they lived or died.
No, because then it won't make sense story-wise.@@deaniussssumner89But I do see where you're kind of going with this, though, from a couple of prequel scenarios kind of perspective. James Marcus was the official Super Villain who puts the Outbreak in motion, technically, within the Arklay Forest/Arklay Mountains by causing an outbreak at the Mansion & The Ecliptic Express. That seems more like a controlled environment/controlled outbreak compared to an actual large scale outbreak like what happens in Raccoon City which canonically story-wise, it happens before Resident Evil 3. So having the game story-wise start and end only between Resident Evil Zero & Resident Evil, or even start before Resident Evil Zero doesn't make sense in the slightest. But prequel scenario DLCs that take place before Resident Evil Zero would work for sure. The viral outbreaks that occur at the Spencer Mansion & The Ecliptic Express all happened long before the official game of Resident Evil Zero begins. So Prequel DLCs would definitely work as long as Resident Evil: Outbreak File #1 & File #2's main 10 scenarios still take place within Raccoon City on the 24th of September through the 1st of October.
I used to play this game with my friend on the ps3. We always got scared shitless since we were kids but I do remember this game fondly for the fact it was so much fun. Each character had their pros and cons and we kept trying our best despite our lack of skill playing the game. Now, I just wish games tried this approach of playing secondary character trying to survive the main event of a game. We didn't make it far yet now with the gaming knowledge and capabilities I have, I bet I could make it farther and have a better experience of the game. This will stay in my best memories as a one of kind video game.
Id be fine with adjustments to the game but id also like a classic mode. You could also do things like time attack, alternate objectives or bonus objectives (like Kevin must recover a unique weapon hidden in a random room), a survival mode etc.
pal user here - britain absolutely had online for these , no idea how this myth still persists... possibly finding randos to play with was probably tiny , 10-15 second lag watching people exist in multiple dimensions phase around , zombies suddenly eating the team that were otherwise not there...surviving that police station was such a damn rush. standing there kicking the zombies back for like....way too long having no idea what the actual requirement to activate the actual escape it was such a good experience.
Dude you are hilarious and your references are top notch. Btdubs, doki doki literature club was a masterpiece. Don't think I didn't notice that soundtrack XD
Saw the Calisto and Dead Space 3 videos. Loved them. This video made me subscribe. Love the Outbreak series so much. (Going to write my personal recommended changes as a reply to this comment.)
1. One of the best things I thought about playing this originally on PS2 was the lack of communication. It made it so much more challenging having such a limited amount of responses. To capture that difficulty but not irritate the players is maybe either have 2 variable modes or randomize everything regardless of how you decide to play. Open comm mode could be using discord, party chat, etc and guarantee every item be randomized. Fixed comm modes could be used to minimze certain key items but still have some randomization. If players choose to do fixed com and still use party chats then they can ruin the experience for themselves. If gives them that choice. Plus I think players choosing that option could be using it for maybe speedrunning. 2. I think most people would not be a fan of tank controls and fixed camera angles, but to allow players to experience the game as intended then again more modes should be optional. Allow tank control mode for an original feel vs 3rd person mode to see things like RE Remakes/DBD. 3. Monetization is a potential problem unless kept in check. Having cosmetic options is always a great idea because it means you dont NEED those things to change how the game plays. You could use purchasing options though for additional maps, maybe a few new characters, and for sure character cosmetic options. When DLC is REQUIRED to play my game, it becomes a problem. If I can EARN like 90% of the items available just by playing or can fast track by just purchasing then I don't think it's that bad. The fact that the series has expanded further beyond Outbreak's 1/2 locations allows for dlc locations to thrive. Imagine being survivors caught by Lucas Baker just trying to escape a massive puzzle trap using his home and surrounding area. Being on the ship Mia was on as the Mold start to attack the ship. Trapped inside House Beneviento hallucinating as you try to escape. These ideas aren't obviously perfect but I truly feel like they hold some potential. 4. I really love the among us idea but I think that would have to be restricted to higher survivor count and recovering memories maybe 1/4 into the level. That way nobody can really hold any suspicion until some sort of progress is truly made. I also believe the concept of creating obstacles is awesome, but it should remain that the "sleeper" player also needs to try and escape. Make it so they help progress the escape process but are actively trying to be the ONLY survivor by the end.
I would simply say a graphical overhaul plus new levels would be all the game would need to properly succeed. Maybe not to MASS appeal. But it would have its market in coop survival horror. Hell maybe they could simply make a file 3 in the same style of RE2Remake in terms of controls, but have a "Missing files" bonus unlock or DLC that is just straight up the original 2 games as an unlock for beating File 3's last level with online working and everything. Yes the gaming market has changed but that doesn't mean you have to change everything. There is a space for older designed games. You can just look at how well RE1 Remake Remaster for PC and modern consoles did, from what I remember it sold extremely well.
2003 E3 sounds like a fuckin BANGER with that line up of titles, Half-Life 2, Halo 2, MGS 3, Resident Evil 4, Final Fantasy & Call of Duty. Man that sounds so fuckin hype. too bad i was 3. Damn those were all bangers.
played this game many hours solo. to me files 1 and 2 are a masterpiece, and to follow its old predecessors with the same mechanics and puzzle solving, is really the heart and soul of OG RE
"Would you appeal to modern audiences?" You mean 200 people who played Concord and Dustborn? Nah. Modern audience is way too small to ever be appealed to.
Before "Overwatch" there was a HL2 mod called "Overwatch". In this mod, a group of players would try to complete a level in first person while one other player would have an RTS view, controlling all of the zombies and special enemies with the goal being to stop them. Other games have done this but that mod always stuck with me. What if they remake Outbreak in the third person style then just give another player the ability to control all the zombies and special enemies and their goal is to stop them. Even if you're doing the same scenarios over and over, the other player messing with the enemies could make each scenario unique.
I really like idea of the maybe imposter. I was a big fan of outbreak, and they did have a "mode" like an imposter mode like this for outbreak. It was Friendly fire mode it was the hardest way to play the game. It often turned into a death match. Some people, even titling the game death match , it was very intense at times and turned into a last standing. Imo this game is the game that inspired all the others, like dead by day light and among us. It had issues, but it did make players use Mark and Jim types more usful as heros not unlike other games today. They can add modes inspired from all the previous games in this tone take the popular look and feel from them even maybe adding parkur. Re6 did also have a mode that let one player play as the monster it was fun and had interesting features that made it stand out but had a number of things that made it unbalanced when veterans abused exploits. Capcom was always so ahead in this new space it wasnt also know for proper quality assurance. I feel when the newer games came out they dumbed and toned down any elements too hard/more costly to properly balance. With lessons learned outbreak in mostly it's original formula adding from the others successful strategies could definitely make it new and fresh. It could be a smash hit for many if they find the right niche for cost for enjoyment. A free to play release for the game and its basic features could be a start. Price points and separate modes added as people should pay for a quality game could be a good way for people to buy the experience they prefer without it seeming like they must purchase the entire experience. I feel like a new reo with a good ui could be good as a moble title to start off then build from there as the mobile space hasn't seen any game like reo and to introduce on all platforms could be a strong selling point like many other games before it. Offering layers of experience and content. I would enjoy to even an open world sand box and or mmorpg style.
Great vid! I’d love to see F1&2 released as is on online store (with mics and online compatibility of course). A File 3 with the remakes’ engine & over the shoulder perspective could be awesome. Im not for ripping off other ips, BUT…an Elden Ring-like Resident Evil could be amazing. Elden Ring meets Dying Light/GTA5
I first played Outbreak file #2 when I was around 6 years old. I would get my dad's phone and jam to some music while I played it. I still play it now as a 20 year old, but I will say that what keeps me coming back and actually having fun is nostalgia. So I totally get your argument that it simply wouldn't be enough for modern audiences. I mean, games nowadays have crazy good graphics and people expect a lot more. Honestly, I would be fine if capcom just ported them to current gen, but what I would like in a Remake... I would say try and keep the things that made it unique in the first place. The characters, the virus gauge, ad lib. Obviously some things need to be changed, but I think if they focused heavily on story and went about it like they did in Revelations it could actually work. The Outbreak series were some of the first and most memorable games I've ever played, I would love to see them remade one day. I've been waiting for a little over a decade now
The Sleeper agent idea is great and having it be random can add to the replayability. But I think it should be an option to turn on or off when making a lobby. This kind of PvP should be something players can choose to have or not.
I have an idea for how to make the "imposter/antagonist" thing work for Outbreak! First of all, I'd rather not have any of the 8 main characters be the antagonist; I'm kinda set in my ways in having them all be helping one another. But instead, I say we use the antagonists that the game already offers. Example: "Below Freezing Point" has Monica, who is established as a murdering psycho up to no good. Whoever is playing her can start off in the security room that will show where all of the other players are. This, along with the fact that Monica is already armed, and has stolen Yoko's ID card, gives the enemy player a significant advantage over the others. When playing as Monica, the idea is to escape the lab - and to do so before the others do, leaving them to be eaten by Hunters. "Decisions, Decisions" would be similar, only this time with Greg Mueller as the antagonist. He also would start off in the security room at the university so the player can see where everyone else is. Plus, Greg has control over the Thanatos Tyrant, so his goal is to simply kill the other players. "The Hive" would be has the Leech Man, giving players the opportunity to not only play a literal monster, but to also play a character who go through the duct systems. As for how the other players can kill the Leech Man (who no doubt would be too smart to be lured into that one heater room), there can be a flamethrower gun that they can unlock in a certain level. "Desperate Times" can give us Chief Irons, since he was the one who set out those "nerve gas bombs" or whatever they were, all over the precinct. After all, the files in RE2 made it clear that Irons was busy sabotaging his own police force while the outbreak occurred, so why not get the opportunity to play that all out? "Flashback" would be similar to "The Hive" in that the antagonist player would be the Crazy Ax Man/Al Lester. His goal would be to kill the other players and feed them to the plant. I'm not sure about the other scenarios, though. Either new characters can be made up, or currently existing characters can be made evil/crazy?
I think they definitely should remaster it as a collection one and two and add more game modes have classic mode, which is just the classic game and add Imposter mode and that person is trying to sabotage the group, but you don’t know who that one is and there’s so much more you could do. I would add mode called the labyrinth mode where it’s one massive level, and you have the main objective secret objective and an umbrella objective, which explains the virus and how it got out who knows.
This video was hilarious and informative. I never played RE: Outbreak due to needing a network adapter and internet connection. I couldn't be bothered with any at the time (I lived in dorms). This would be a perfect game to remake on current gens.
If I had to pick a game for a new Outbreak to Mimic, I would pick Killing Floor. Leveling up your characters individually with goals, challenges, secrets, and Easter eggs in each stage. But I also dig having the sleeper agent every so often. Not every game, bc that would just create such hunts. Just RNG that part and have paranoia run rampant bc you don't even know if there is an agent in your game. But the fear is always there.
I never got to play these online, but I do remember crawling to the end of a stage after a boss fight. I don’t think it would be popular now because it wasn’t a shooter with plenty of ammo and customizable guns.
Personally outbreak to me was Left 4 Dead before Left 4 Dead. Just very limited ammo, puzzles to solve, but the teamwork and the stay close elements with infected bosses are there. That's why I always replay the L4D2 Outbreak mod with friends.
@@KevinHelpUs well I mean there is a mod for L4D2 Campaign Map at the workshop where you can play all of RE Outbreak. Combine that with character skins, SI Skins and you already got a at home RE Outbreak Remake.
Suggesting that Outbreak takes on a social deduction angle is also why I'm surprised we haven't gotten a game based off of The Thing in recent years: with games like Dead Space proudly showing its inspiration for the original John Carpenter movie on its shoulders, as well as all the other popular videogames that've come out with either cameos or set entirely within the world of 80s slasher horror flicks, I really feel as though a game set in The Thing universe that's taking on an Among Us angle would work beautifully. The game could take place in a number of settings, with the primary mission being to organize a way to escape, all the while ensuring whoever is the Thing either never leaves or eradicates all the survivors. The objectives needed to fulfill could remain in the same areas, but key tools will be randomized on each round, same for tools people can use to either defend themselves or prove that they themself or other players are who they say they are. I am aware that there's a supposed remake of The Thing game from the early 2000s, which I don't have the strongest feelings about, simply because that wasn't a game I grew up with and don't have the largest connection to. It's... definitely a game of its era, to say the least. It would be cool to see the John Carpenter take on the story get another chance, though, and with what's popular in the multiplayer gaming scene, there could be ways to make it work.
I would say have different modes, a classic coop experience mode for the die-hard nostalgic nerds, an imposter/sleeper-agent mode and/or whatever else will entice a modern audience. Resident Evil Outbreak mainly needs the controls from modern RE games (3rd person shooter) to appeal to modern audiences. Then market the game more as Left4Dead either 'Escape Room' coop experience or a combination of the two.
Resident evil outbreak legendary in my eyes I remember I randomly picked it up one time at GameStop and didn’t put it down until it froze on that blasted loading screen
The thing is, it takes a very special game to thrive as multiplayer only, and I don't see Outbreak doing that. What it could do though is come with a competent single player mode for those of us who don't want to play with randoms online or be bound to setting up the occasional game with our friend group. Imagine the multiple characters functioned like GTA 5, where they would be viable on their own controlled by the AI, and we had a character select wheel that we could hop between them at will.
Yeah, the best explanation for why there is no Outbreak Remake from the devs is to look at Itchy Tasty by Alex Aniel (A former RE dev) which explains remaking it will need too many resources unless the online aspects were removed and re-releases/ports would be impossible due to technical difficulties.
Re Outbreak needs a remaster so bad! It is easily on of my top RE games. Crazy how many times Capcom has made an online game like the “RE:Verse” but never considered doing Outbreak remake??? One can hope! Too bring this game to par, I would upgrade the models, animations, textures, and AI but leave everything else. Also, make outbreak 1 and 2 into one.
This is a good opening to this conversation. While I love Resident Evil Outbreak I recognize the replay ability would be an issue, same with keeping a fresh take. While I understand fans not wanting it to change, as you said micro-transactions and changes would need to be made for the game to remain relevant and boost profitability. My take, they try to make a massive open Raccoon City that can be played solo but would also welcome multiplayer. With multiplayer being available on main missions and open world. The game could be set obviously during the outbreak, but monthly or quarterly dlc that expand on this. Not what suicide squad did but more so a mesh of destiny and Fortnite. It could appeal to those who want the older horror center play style but also those who want a faster multiplayer experience. What needs to happen is the enemies would have to seriously out power the players. Zombies shouldn’t just bullet sponges but incorporate the lore and turn into crimson heads, forcing the players to deal with the zombies more seriously. Lockers and hunters and other mutations should be spread out in a way that encountering one makes the player double think just going in guns blazing while not being a drag that no one wants to play. Something along this line set in unreal engine along with updated maps and a fully developed city map. I think they could make it work. Obviously the painful part is dlc and micro transactions, but to keep it fair it should be for skins, weapon skins, and other cosmetics that provide nostalgia more than anything. Like say various skins for Alyssa Ashcroft aside from her classic red, or Yoko having umbrella themed skins. Obviously the game should incorporate skins to find in the game. I think if they followed that format and stuck to it, we could see a good Outbreak Remake.
Best thing to solve the reply ability concerns would be VR2 online play or simply a unique creation character build using your own self image. Since capcom like to mimic other titles, it's possible to copy Fortnites map system as a dlc, even if it's just mini maps of the famous resident evil locations.
They should follow file #2 and have extra game modes with heavy RNG. The sabotage aspect will be awesome. Elimination, survival, imposter, showdown(boss rush), Hunter(vs with Monsters n bosses)
What I can say is rerelease outbreak as a standard co op and add a multiplayer mode where they have a timer to escape something like RE resistance where you have to find key items they would need to escape while trying to stay alive while using the randomness generated so the items never appear at the same place, also having the maps huge and multi layer for exploration. more maps/locations, if they want to add microtransactions they can sell skins/outfits.
They should make a resident evil outbreak remake where you can play as the umbrella security services and the umbrella biohazard countermeasure services and have to complete tasks and objectives collect data, eliminate certain targets. That'll be pretty cool
i want the game to be remade. this is how i imagine to be profitable and can be a long term online service game. Make the base game with at least 5 stages just like the old game. release new stages/characters per patches. give the players the ability to edit stages or create by themselves(for replayability) for their profit, i don't know if the gacha formula would work here but something like hoyoverse formula might work or sell costumes and weapon cosmetics like if you pick up a pipe it would have like a ribbon on it or somesht. then use the left4dead formula too. make enemy players play as special zombies to stop the human players from progressing. for the story, i think raccoon city is big enough to create a bunch of fictional places. or they can always make a stand alone story with an outbreak of the area. the area in resident evil 5 and 6 would work. or that resident evil village to, they can really expand the game so much with this.
It's for PC, emulated from the Japanese editions of the two PS2 games. You can find the instructions online, just don't ask them for the game files or how to find the game files - it'll get you banned.
I'm not gonna lie. I was against the whole "including an imposter" thing at first, but you're kind of winning me over.
I admit, it would change the game considerably, but it might keep folks coming back for more after they've exhausted the maps.
Instead of remaking it why not just remastered it like tomb raider 123. Also port the control from file 2 on to file 1
i think that is what resident evil resistance was supposed to be.
You see the numbers, and either
A. people who talked about more outbreak online stuff enver touched it
@@MrEoin1986 That wasn't a remaster lol. It was just AI upscaling
I know that. I was just thinking about what if capcom was to remaster it 🤔
Also, in RE 3 Remake as you walk the streets with Jill and pass a cop car, you can hear Kevin Ryman asking for back-up on the radio because he’s locked in a bar with other survivors.
I heard it too!
O.o I never noticed that! But I did notice how they brought up Alyssa back in re7. Gotta admit I love the references :) still hoping they remake it though
Oh, I love that reference. I said to myself it was Kevin with some others Outbreak survivors the first time I heard it playing that part
that's such misinformation it's a generic cop saying hes trapped in cafeteria with others what about that has to do with outbreak
They literally don't even have to remake the games. Just port them to online stores and give them online again. That's it.
They need to fix the AI
@@ryan215553 playing single player is not the way to enjoy this game.

And modernize controls, but that's it. It would sell like hotcakes.
They should just port the games to Steam and call it a day.
They should!

Why Every Resident Evil NEED To Be On PC.
@@izwanrauf6210 Best platform for conservation.
Why not both? Both is good 👍
@@KevinHelpUs the outbreak games are very different from whats out there today, and thats exactly what would set them apart, but better yet, why not add the maps that were removed? maybe other removed things.
@@blackwaltz3135 A Day in Raccoon and the Pier scenario would be cool to experience.
It is curious how they never ported Outbreak to steam and modern consoles. I don't even mean a remake. I just mean a remaster.

Oh, a builder could be amazing!

But i do agree that a among us style game is kinda interesting. Who knows this maybe a start of a whole genre. I wonder how will this work for fps thou.
I’d love if community maps were available for Outbreak!
I truly luv this idea 💜 but I feel like this is better if they made the game from the ground up, maybe the 3rd person over shoulder view
Yeah it'd be huge. Of course Outbreak will be remade. It's inevitable.
I think something like nemesis lockdown would be neat. Where each character has their own objective that they try to complete and may chose to ignore help or sabotage the other players. I dont know about having the assassination contracts like lockdown. But along the same lines as that game.
I’ve never played Lockdown, will have to look into it!
the steam game is a near 1 to 1 of the board game its based off of. but i really enjoy how the objectives work in it.@@KevinHelpUs
I still need to try Fear & Hunger! Thanks for the recommendation!
If I was going to remake of RE-Outbreak, I would add these things.
Each scenario should have 5 ways to escape it, making two of the options viable for each run and random item placement and completely random codes and passwords.
Without saying with today tech load times, should be gone voice chat should be proxie, and the big one 3rd person camera(gross I know)
With the expanded maps should have 6 item slots.
Resistance and Reverse... All the money spent when all we wanted was an outbreak remaster / remake... Such a shame
13:15, most perfectly timed item pick up ever
I HAD to include that, obviously.
Amén ❤
Dude if they remade RE outbreak the internet would F’n Break!!!
Outbreak stories were so interesting. because it was other stories inside the outbreak , just short stories that make you wonder what else was going on within the city struggle. Way ahead of it’s time.
Ultimate dream would be Revelations 3 takes place in New Raccoon City. Then the multiplayer add on game is Outbreak remake.
Is New Raccoon City a thing yet? Or are you inventing it for Revelations 3?
As far as I know there has been no mention of what became of RC after the missile strike from 1998. Outbreak 2 has a CGI cutscene at the very end implying Umbrella is conducting BOW tests in the rubble of the city.@@KevinHelpUs

I’ve heard that clip! I’m not…sure it’s Kevin because it was just generic enough, but it’s still up for debate, I guess.
I'm sure modders would quickly make HD updates and what not for the game.
man, i've been having a blast playing REO online emulated, also the commnunity is pretty nice.
Capcom needs to listen to the community Outbreak 1 and 2 where ahead of their time, and I think if Racoon city was done in the vein of Outbreak it would have been a lot more well received.
Residents evil outbreak could be turned into an extraction shooter like escape from tarkov.
Or, they can remake Outbreak as a story focused, single player game. The story and character threads are there, they would only tighten them
they should take note of lethal company next, could be interesting, then again that's a very communication based game and I can't imagine capcom doing that right
My buddy and I have been dying for an outbreak remake.
It’s worth trying them all! There’s ten if you include File 2.
How about a remake of resi evil Gaiden Leon Barry saving Lucia ?
I did not understand Resi evil Outbreak file 2 with Zoo Animals because the first time I heard any thing such as creatures evil was Resi Evil 0 where Edward is attacked and just nearly makes it through a train window telling Rebecca to be careful because there are evil dogs and zombies and bats and birds but no elephants or lions or tigers as such 🤔
I do 100% agree on outbreak 1 2 and 3 altogether 3 would be extra story extended as such like maybe we see the mayor of racoon city for the 1st time
Only one thing: You mean 10 Scenarios if you count Outbreak: File #2 since both Outbreak games canonically take place from the 24th up to October 1st.
The only difference(s) for the other scenarios is:
In Canonical Order
Outbreak comes first
Hellfire comes second
Wild Things comes third
The Hive [Raccoon General, or Spencer Memorial from the Remakes all 8 Characters come together] comes fourth
Below Freezing Point [NEST, the 8 characters stick together.] comes fifth
Desperate Times [R.P.D. The 8 Characters stick together for] comes last
[^ These are all of the scenarios that originally happen in canonical order before Jill finds Marvin unconscious in the Police Station. So the way this will work is that Desperate Times should take place on the 29th when Carlos heads to the Station with Tyrell.]
In Canonical Order after Desperate Times:
Flashback [Two of the side characters dies just before this Scenario starts.]
Flashback [You're probably thinking.."Wait, again?". If you play as Alyssa, then the cutscene that plays is the guy who enters the Cabin, where as if you play as David the cutscene is different and actually shows the bridge collapsing.]
Underbelly [It's the same team from the 1st Flashback. Here it is Dusk because it took them a long time to get back to the city from the Arklay Forest. Underbelly's intro cutscene is them running through the Horde and end up in the subway. This is also the night where Resident Evil 2 takes place and the night Marvin originally wakes up long after Jill leaves the R.P.D.]
Decisions, Decisions [v Both scenarios take place at the same time. After the explosion of the university, it's the same Firefighters from Hellfire who comes to pick you up at the end of the scenario]
End of the Road [^ Both scenarios take place at the same time. Kills two birds with one stone.]
The ending cutscene for Outbreak File #2 is only partially non-canon, the Nuke used to destroy the city is actually the one from the first Outbreak.
Put OUTBREAK EITHER INBETWEEN RESI EVIL 0 AND 1 or before resi evil 0
Mine too!
Id be fine with adjustments to the game but id also like a classic mode. You could also do things like time attack, alternate objectives or bonus objectives (like Kevin must recover a unique weapon hidden in a random room), a survival mode etc.
pal user here - britain absolutely had online for these , no idea how this myth still persists...
possibly finding randos to play with was probably tiny , 10-15 second lag watching people exist in multiple dimensions phase around , zombies suddenly eating the team that were otherwise not there...surviving that police station was such a damn rush. standing there kicking the zombies back for like....way too long having no idea what the actual requirement to activate the actual escape
it was such a good experience.
So you are saying just exactly what Albert Wesker were doing in Resident Evil 1
Hadn’t thought of it that way, but yes!
There’s one specific character on RE series that is rare which is Chris can bring 6 items with him instead of classic 8 items like Jill
God that G4 E3 clip was a hit right in the feels !
played this game many hours solo. to me files 1 and 2 are a masterpiece, and to follow its old predecessors with the same mechanics and puzzle solving, is really the heart and soul of OG RE
"Would you appeal to modern audiences?"
You mean 200 people who played Concord and Dustborn?
I'm playing Resident Evil Outbreak right now lol
You have excellent taste.
I've been waiting for a little over a decade now
Subscribed because your sense of humour is on point 😂❤
The Sleeper agent idea is great and having it be random can add to the replayability. But I think it should be an option to turn on or off when making a lobby.
This kind of PvP should be something players can choose to have or not.
Better question is why did they skip a Code Veronica remake?
You hear Kevin on a radio in the bad RE3R.
Loved the first outbreak, it was great.
I was XxOodiexX
My buddy Zombied and I were so close to top 10 across the board for times.
Example:
"Below Freezing Point" has Monica, who is established as a murdering psycho up to no good.
Oh, that’d be a lot of fun. I love it.
@@KevinHelpUs Thank you very much! :D
Capcom"we will not make resident evil outbreak..."(Gun click) Me"how about now"?
If I had to pick a game for a new Outbreak to Mimic, I would pick Killing Floor. Leveling up your characters individually with goals, challenges, secrets, and Easter eggs in each stage. But I also dig having the sleeper agent every so often. Not every game, bc that would just create such hunts. Just RNG that part and have paranoia run rampant bc you don't even know if there is an agent in your game. But the fear is always there.
Love the video. Outbreak needs more attention!
I used to rent this game on my ps2 when i was 9 or 10.
I was too afraid to play.
Good times.I wish i could play online then in Europe.
We need outbreak remake or port or something man- we need a REAL re co op game
I never got to play these online, but I do remember crawling to the end of a stage after a boss fight. I don’t think it would be popular now because it wasn’t a shooter with plenty of ammo and customizable guns.
Personally outbreak to me was Left 4 Dead before Left 4 Dead. Just very limited ammo, puzzles to solve, but the teamwork and the stay close elements with infected bosses are there. That's why I always replay the L4D2 Outbreak mod with friends.
There's a L4D2 Outbreak mod?
That's why I like to think of Left 4 Dead as a spiritual successor to Outbreak. They even have the same voice actor with Louis and Jim.
@@KevinHelpUs well I mean there is a mod for L4D2 Campaign Map at the workshop where you can play all of RE Outbreak. Combine that with character skins, SI Skins and you already got a at home RE Outbreak Remake.
@@coldstuff9784 yea, when I played L4D2 for the first time, and played No Mercy, hearing him I spit my cereal.
hot take, the outbreak RE games are top 5 RE games imo
I remember playing this game In high school. I just wish it had voice communication
I don’t think they will ever do any tank controls game with fixed cameras
They won’t give us an outbreak remake but they gave us a crappy live service online game known as RE:verse
This feels like a good compromise!
so it will also have some pvp elements? so pvpve?
We'll they should atleast HD Remaster them for current consoles.
9:50 damn didn’t even know about this reference.
What I can say is rerelease outbreak as a standard co op and add a multiplayer mode where they have a timer to escape something like RE resistance where you have to find key items they would need to escape while trying to stay alive while using the randomness generated so the items never appear at the same place, also having the maps huge and multi layer for exploration. more maps/locations, if they want to add microtransactions they can sell skins/outfits.
no keep the modern trash out of it. just remake the game like re 1 remake and change nothing else .
I really have high hopes recently that outbreak could get some sort of remake
Folks have been vocal about wanting it! Now Capcom just has to listen.
They should make a resident evil outbreak remake where you can play as the umbrella security services and the umbrella biohazard countermeasure services and have to complete tasks and objectives collect data, eliminate certain targets. That'll be pretty cool
They could bring that back too!
i want the game to be remade. this is how i imagine to be profitable and can be a long term online service game.
Make the base game with at least 5 stages just like the old game.
release new stages/characters per patches.
give the players the ability to edit stages or create by themselves(for replayability)
for their profit, i don't know if the gacha formula would work here but something like hoyoverse formula might work
or sell costumes and weapon cosmetics like if you pick up a pipe it would have like a ribbon on it or somesht.
then use the left4dead formula too. make enemy players play as special zombies to stop the human players from progressing.
for the story, i think raccoon city is big enough to create a bunch of fictional places.
or they can always make a stand alone story with an outbreak of the area. the area in resident evil 5 and 6 would work. or that resident evil village to, they can really expand the game so much with this.
What’s the platform you use to play the outbreak online server ?
It's for PC, emulated from the Japanese editions of the two PS2 games. You can find the instructions online, just don't ask them for the game files or how to find the game files - it'll get you banned.
