I studied English at an ordinary Russian school (after that graduates usually know only a few words and sentences ;)), then myself at courses for adults in USA, but even after completing the intermediate level I didn't understand at all how to ask questions in English. I watched videos of other good teachers on RUclips about it - but English remained for me more complicated than Chinese ;) But this your video and the magic formula literally opened my eyes! Everything turned out so easy! Thank you so much!

Great lesson, Truly! I just want to let you know about a mistake in this video... 6:30 in the video, three questions are wrong about the main verbs that are identified: one is an infinitive, another one is gerund and could not be inflected; therefore, they become objects and cannot play the role of the action verb. The last one is with like. In this case, like is not a verb, it is either an adjective or an adverb. Difference is needed to be made with the verb be used as an auxiliary or the main verb. Sincerely yours.
I'd be very pleased whether you provide further explanation on what you pointed out or type some examples regarding the form you might use for each case. Thanks in advance.

To try is not the main verb. The main verb is the verb to be. It's not an auxiliary here.
What is the weather like at this time of the year?
Again "is" is not an auxiliary but the main verb. Like is not a verb here.
What is the best thing about living there?
Here living is a gerund acting as the object of the preposition about.
In short, when the verb to be is the main verb, it doesn't follow the formula QASM...
Ex . Where is your mom?
Are they angry with us?
Who is the president of the United States?

I remember when I was a pupil in the middle school , one of the biggest challenges is to deal which asking questions most notably wh questions . In that time I thought that if I understand the manners to ask questions I would have no problems with English neither in grammar nor in phonetics but unfortunately I was totally wrong coz English like any other language is a combination of various party that lead to take control of its characteristics
