Regarding IN or ON when referring to transport vehicles, I usually explain that in is for small vehicles in which you cannot walk to get to the seat.On the other hand, the preposition on is used for those larger vehicles, in which we walk on the floor to reach the seat. On the plane, in the helicopter, in the car, in the taxi, on the ship, on the bus. We also need to get on the horse and motorcycle in order to get around. 🙃🇬🇧🇧🇷

    Hi Emma!
My name is Éder Paschoal Pinto, I was born in São Paulo, Brazil.
I discovered your course today, however I must confess that you have already won me over, definitely.
I have some experiences with the English language. The first was in England, through an exchange. The second in the United States, through a doctoral research I carried out with the support of the George Washington University. The third in Australia, where I undertook a postdoctoral internship.
Your voice and pronunciation are clear. Your body expression is explanatory, sweet. The pace of your explanation is fabulous. Anyway, you have the gift of communication, of teaching. Congratulations and thank you very much for transmitting your valuable knowledge.

It’s absolutely beautiful and enjoyable the way you teach! It’s very easy to follow and it’s fun to imitate you. You have such a friendly clear and inviting voice that it’s almost like a little magic. I am very sensitive to sounds. When they are uplifting and learn easily.
I wish I had you as a teacher when I was young. I would have learned so easily and fluently. The joyful presence of your heart and understanding the language spoken is so much easier than just learning simple words. Through you using complete sentences and very simple examples it’s easy to imagine and repeat at the same time so it’s easy to speak ~ almost like a child! I learned five languages in my life at school. But really speaking I started when I moved to the US. Then my brain was in trouble because it was translating all the time. I tried think you are doing a gorgeous job and if there’s more to come I’m so appreciative. It would be a lovely idea to also continue with different body parts financial areas social areas how to use the words in common phrases. It’s really helpful for me when you explain and just express every day situation. Because I realized with all the learning I had at school the simple fluent talking about daily life is what really was missing in all these years. Thank you so much for all your help God bless you
you are precious and keep doing what you’re doing
thank you auf Wiedersehen and Aloha

I've got a question about "grey areas" expression.
It's smth unclear for me personally (because I'm not an expert in the area)
    OR
It's smth unclear for everyone (ex. some law is not written carefully)???
Can I say "It's a grey area for me. I 'm not good at it"???
    Thank you in advance!

Марина Любшина 👨🏻‍🏫 Hello. Mr Teacher here in England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿. When we speak about a ‘grey area’ we are uncertain or doubtful about something. It hasn’t been decided clearly, so we hesitate before taking a decision. It is also risky or dangerous in some situations to go ahead without knowing all the information needed. I hope this is helpful for you.

Enjoy your presentations. Your very nice to look at and listen to (British accent not too heavy). Examples are simple. Whether some one is new to speaking English or grew up in America and U.K. -- this can be helpful to clear up badly used words. On or In or at... which & when to use? Prepositions have always been a problem when writing. This lesson is a very good explanation of when to use for describing places.

You said IN can be used to talk about regions, areas or cities, isn't south coast a region or area of France? With edges, of course less "obvious" than a box, but it has... Can you clarify please why on, and why In can't be used in this case?

Great video. I was thinking that "in school" can be explained as a student "inside the session" or "inside school hours", and at school is being at the physical location. However, one wouldn't say at school unless you're also a student (at least in the USA). For example: If my mom is "at the school" for a parent-teacher conference since the mom isn't a student I'd specify "at the school" since it's not her school, it's her child's school.

Thank you Ms. Emma, I'm always confused using these prepositions but after I've watched your video it made it very clear to me :)

First off, this is a FANTASTIC VIDEO, and I'm signing up to subscribe. The delivery is great, the substance is thorough, and the examples are spot on.
There is only one (possible) problem: At 5:54 you say "IN the team." In US English (at least) we say "ON a team." Lebron is ON the Lakers, I earned a sot ON the swim team . Etc.
Is it different in British English?

Very well explained these prepositions. The most hard thing to learn in a language is the correct usage of its prepositions. Thanks for sharing💖💖💖💖💖

Hello Emma! Again, I must congratulate you on the spectacular lesson given. As you said (and very well said), the prepositions in English are something very confusing and/or a really "grey area", in fact ... !!! I do agree with you, actually. Thank you and, at the same time, congratulations for the spectacular performance (...) that you always demonstrate. Yours truly: João Carvalho - Portugal.

I've been learning the prepositions in english since one month, and it's very difficult for me. I discover your video by chance, and your explication about the use of "in" is very clear ! The most clearer to understand, something unlocked in my mind !! Ty ! :D

      It depends on your position.
If you are inside the water, you will say:-
      👇
      I play in the sea.
And if you standing next to the the sea (on the beach), you will say :-
      I play by the sea.
      But I am not sure.😅😅😅😅

The correct use of the prepositions is often a problem for me as a native German speaker, although the English grammar is close to ours.
Thank you very much for your valuable teaching!
