Bro first off I wanted to to say Aloha from Hawaii!!!!! It's me Jeremy from Arizona I moved back to Hawaii after some life changing things. But I brought my SaS Dakota with me. At the Moment it's in pieces doing a stroker 416 and a 5sp swap. Not as intense as your build but enough for Hawaii. Good to know you still have the beast and it's amazing!!!! If one day you and the wife visit Hawaii give me shout.... Aloha 🤙
When you know how to speak so in laws and wife and buddies feel good and the wheeler's hear the behind the lines speech.. Great video man. Family friendly
This solid axle swap is PART of the project i have planned for my 99 Durango. The other part is I have a 5.9L 12v Cummins in a dually that I want to cram into the Durango as well. I have a feeling I am in for a VERY expensive project.
Loooooove this thing! We are building our 99 durango 5.2 and gonna solid axle it on dodge 2500 axles, have always tried to find info on this and love this video!
@@marioarchuleta8723 I tow and have the 4.7 and the 4.7 is great, and my family enjoyed our 2000 slt plus 5.9.It is a gas hog,Lots of power when pulling, but speed wise or launch wise not alot
Oh that would be sweet, I know the power wagons from the same year could use the factory links and brackets to do a SAS swap. The only thing needed to mod was coil buckets.
I have been thinking about doing the same thing I found me a 2000 Dodge Dakota with a 5.9 got a good deal on it and I have been thinking about doing a solid axle swap myself
I love this truck this is basically everything g I want to do with mine, I’m Going to do a sas with leaves and a 4 link in the rear to start with. And like you, just let it evolve from there. I have a d60 amd a 14 bolt that is going in it with the 4 link rear and sas front.
Dude got the rarest 1st gen dodge Durango known to man, I just got my Durango last year 2wd for daily and light trailing I gotta get it lifted and some bigger tires and rims 😅like $1500 to get it all hopefully
I have an 03. I already have a set of 1tons off an 05 ford with the e-locker. I also have a super lift leaf spring set up for a k5 blazer. I think I want 40's. What I'm wondering is how did you do your steering? I wouldn't think the stock steering could handle it but maybe I'm wrong? I have a 3/4 ton dodge I can steal the box off of but I wonder how you accomplished it
I used a 78 bronco steering box (exterior frame mounted with extended drop pitman), I sleeved the frame where I mounted it and then Went with hydro assist to help turn those tires. 37” and up hydro assist is almost a must.
That thing is perfect my guy . I am love it I've been wanting to do this to my 99 since I got it In 2010 but never been able to but finally I'm going to be picking up some dana 60s here soon. Thank for some more inspiration on getting my build going hope I run into you at some Event in the feature . You should look at miobi in Iowa you would have some little fun there it not like moab but fun spot in the woods in small town iowa .
Sweet ride man! I just blew out my front diff/shaft and rear axle seal in my 00 Rango. Great day wheeling though! Would 03 Ram 2500 axles fit well they are dana 60s front and rear, could I take all steering components from it too? Any other recommendations as far as shafts or anything else?
@@ExploringStillConnected Can you forward that parts list to me as well? I have been thinking about doing this to my 2002 Durango for a while and I think I'm gonna finally send it.
Hey I was wondering if you can help me out on the dodge Durango solid axle swap? Like what kind of axles do you have under there or something like a parts list if you have it?
Great video man! I remember watching this awhile back and jst came across it again so I had to watch. Love the fact that you started a with few simple tools to building and doin all your own fab work on Ruby, she's a beast bro! I noticed you hadn't talked about doing anything motor wise with her, has she jst been that strong of a motor with no problems? I have a lifted, regeared, 2000 5.9l and I had a cracked head 3yrs ago (replaced myself), and now in the middle of rebuilding from bare block. I hot tanked it, did Electrolysis to it about 3 times to pull all the rust out (built my own electrolysis/hot tank) yada yada yada. Iv owned mine for almost 15yrs and its probly just me with my luck but I'm under the hood more then anything with it. Have you had any problems or made any upgrades with yours?
Thanks a ton,, it's definitely been a great journey. The motor is stock, had to fix the head gasket leak around 100k but besides that no issues. For rock crawling the 5.9 has been great! The 46re had to be rebuilt and tends to overheat even with a cooler, definitely plan upgrades there.
It's a great platform to start with, v8, boxed frame, 1/2 ton rear Axle. But the front ifs, won't hold up long. If you up for a solid Axle swap I wouldn't hesitate to build it up!
@@ExploringStillConnected thx I think i will be setting it up but I will make my brackets Iv been building off-road trucks my whole life I have my own plans for how I want it set up I was just wondering if it was a good platform i’m going to three link the front end with nitromethane shocks on 2003 Dana 60s and I’m going to put king shocks coil overs in the back with a four link 513 gears in the axles with the lockers

SWAY BAR ON THE FRONT TOO, OR JUST THE BACK?
Just the back, the radius arms up front do a good job of controlling roll.
Lolol 41 & half 😂😂😂 hell yeah bro 😎
What rock sliders did you use?
Custom sliders, I used .250 wall 2"x6" rectangular tubing with .250 wall 2"x2" square tube to connect to the frame, and lots of gussets.

I fabricated the bumper, tied it in to the rock sliders, then tied the cage into that.

4.88, originally geared for 37s.
