I wonder how the great composers of 1950s or 1960s would have viewed Arijit Singh. How he would have fared against Rafi, Mukesh, Manna Dey, Talat or Kishore Kumar. I know this comparison is grossly unfair, but nevertheless still his voice culture is so different than these greats that I don’t think he would have survived the competition in the fifties or sixties. Would Naushad, Shankar Jaikishan, Madan Mohan, OP or Roshan given him a chance? Doubt it very much.
