Serena can win without her serve, it's just that it takes her longer to do so. She is a good returner and can produce great ground strokes plus she has great defense. I never was crazy about her net game tho. Roger Federer said it best when things are not working against an opponent you have to figure it out, it's what makes tennis unique.

Serena’s defense was great this tournament. She moved and absorbed pace so well against big hitters like Muguruza, Keys, and Sharapova
