SMAK (TASTE ) voice rhythm movement is a concert series with interviews and conversations.
SMAK visits Sweden-based artists who all in a personal way represent a strong music and storytelling tradition deeply rooted in a place or in a folk culture in different parts of the world.
Ulrika Bodén is an expressive and versatile musician who is considered one of the foremost folk singers in the country. With her clear and powerful voice, she is hired as a soloist and with the projects she runs herself, both in Sweden and abroad. Ulrika has her roots in Helgum in Ångermanland and the old songs from her home area have a special place in her heart. Ulrika also writes her own music and lyrics, plays flutes, autoharp and dulcimer.
In this act, Ulrika Bodén will meet singer Rostam Mirlashari, percussionist Liliana Zavala and dancer Ulrika Larsen.

It's an absolutely beautiful song. Could anyone put the lyrics of the song and the origin of it? Listening to this song a couple of times, I noticed some interesting words in it (if I'm not hearing it wrong). At one point it says "Parvati Badshah". Does it mean the the husband of Parvati? If that's the case, it becomes much more fascinating than it is (from a historical and cultural perspective). As some might know, Parvati is a deity in Hindu cultures.
This is mostly in the Saravani Balochi (western Balochistan dialect). What you are pointing to as "Parvati Badshah" is from the refrain "Maath moradeegin par wati Batcha", which in English is "the mother has blessings and hopes for her son"; The word "Par" or "Pa (in eastern dialects)" means "for", and "Wat" means "self", and "Wati" means "that which is of the self". The artists sing the song with incomparable beauty and sweetness.
@@gambarkurd5948 Thanks a lot for the explanation. I have read that Hinduism is practiced among the Bugti tribe of Baloch population. I thought that could be the reason of the above mentioned lyricis. But it seems I was wrong. Thanks a lot again for explaining the verse. Could you also post a translation of the lyrics, if possible? I know it's a hard ask; and words and emotions behind them cannot be translated so easily. But it will be extremely helpful and educational if you could do that. :)

Yes, there is a small population of hindus in the bugti tribe who were originally "Bakhaal" or "merchants" and incorporated into the tribal martial structure. The late chief of the Bugti tribe, Nawab Akbar Khan Bugti, was very proud of this secular feature of Baloch tribal administration. There is also a subtribe of the Bugtis which goes by the name Maratha Bugti (who practice Mohammadanism/Islam btw). As far as I know, there were migrations to and fro across the Raan of Kutch since the earliest times so the presence and exchange culturally, ethnologically and linguistically is there. Another tribe of the Baloch, the Gichkis of Panjgor are also said to have descended from a princely hindu tribe from pre-islamic times. Although what is most interesting is that almost almost a quarter of the baloch population speaks Brahvi which is a dravidian language.
