I didn't have 4K footage of Halo 2's campaign to hand, so replayed the entire campaign just to produce this video!

@@burge117 I'm now having to do the same for Halo 3 haha. In fairness, getting better quality footage of both has been on my list for a year, so good to finally get it done.
I absolutely mean this as a compliment...if there was a newspaper for video games you should write for it. Youre great at cutting out the waffle and getting to the heart of what the story's about. All the best! I shall now patiently await my Fallout London synopsis.
That's really nice of you to say Steven, cheers! As it happens, I actually studied for my journalism diploma after finishing my English degree, and part of the training was learning to be precise and succinct in my writing.
I'm going to do two more Fallout: London streams, to get my playtime up to 25 hours, then start writing my collected thoughts on it. I'm off to Ireland Thursday, so I'd expect it around Thurs/Friday next week. Will be a fairly long piece, I'd imagine.

There's nothing more irritating than when you're recording footage and an NPC decides to start blabbering away for no discernible reason.
This video made me realize that I had never before seen Halo 2’s original cutscenes, only the remastered ones by blur.
When I was young, I played a lot of Halo CE, but I never played halo 2. My house was robbed sometime in 2004, and my Xbox was stolen. Due to this my parents never bought me Halo 2, and so I never played it. Eventually Halo 3 came around and my parents bought an Xbox 360 to play it on, and I played it as well. I played through Halo 3 and Reach and odst and 4 and the Halo CE remaster, but never Halo 2.
All these years later and the first time I ever even saw Halo 2 was when it was released on MCC. The new blur studios cutscenes were so good I never bothered to see what the original scenes looked like.
So today, nearly 20 years after Halo 2 released, I have finally witnessed the original cutscenes for the first time.
What did you think about it after seeing it’s original form from the 2004 release? Thoughts on the campaign?
@@Harbingeruprisingofficial I certainly feel it looks the most dated out of all the Halo games. The story is the best out of all the games, but as for gameplay, it’s my least favourite of the original trilogy. It’s a little less clunky than CE, but the enemies are less fun to fight and the weapons have a lot less weight behind them.
It’s a good game but I’d prefer to play any of Bungie’s other games over H2.
One thing I never understood. The Gravemind sends you to high charity to find the index… then he sends infection forms (that he controls) to attack you.
Wouldn’t it make more sense for the infection forms to help chief by clearing out high charity??
My guess would be that it gave him double the chance of succeeding. Either Master Chief gets the job done or The Flood overwhelm him and everyone else, and he gets his hands (/tentacles) on it regardless.
I've been making my way through Halo 2's legendary for the first time recently and while it's been quite the challenge, it's reminding me of just how much I love Halo 2's story

Good luck to ya! I did it on legendary on stream fairly recently and it was brutal. Took me around 12 hours to get through, I think.

Can't believe u actually managed to do it. Lemme order a pizza and I'll watch it.
It was a beast to write, as beyond simply recounting the events of the game, there's tons of new concepts to explain! What an Arbiter is, what the great journey is, who the prophets are etc etc. Spent way too long on the script considering it's fairly word count light compared to others.
This brief summary does highlight how jarring the ending was... One more level could've tied things up neatly.
I'm now playing through 3 to do a similar video to this one, having just done the whole of 2 for the millionth time, and what always strikes me is how slow 2 can be at times. Compared to 3, there's a lot of waiting around and it definitely could have been cut down significantly to free up room for an extra level or two at its end.
@@BenPlaysGames As I remember, development for 2 was an even bigger disaster than CE. High Charity has a large unused section (didn't you capture that yourself?) that was going to be used for vehicles but was scrapped due to deadlines (which is a shame). Every Halo game has its own flaws, and tbh I wish we could see what could have been, had development time not been rushed. I doubt they would have let certain slow moving platforms in.

Halo 2 is my favorite videogame story of all time! Halo CE is amazing too, and Halo 3 feels like a perfect conclusion!

I might actually do that, you know. But only if I committed to doing the every game for whatever series, as I hate things being incomplete. I'm going to get Halo 3 done then take a break before I do sets of ODST and Reach, then 4, 5 and Infinite, finishing with Halo Wars and its sequel. They're nice scripts to write when I'm not in the mood to bang out many thousands of words.

Nice one elite! I think I might do one for Halo Wars and its sequel too, and perhaps even the Fireteam games, so that I can put them all together into a definitive summary of the games.

Halo 2 is a game that is evidently unfinished, from the recently talked about cut dynamic lighting to some of the most boring levels Bungie produced for the franchise. I can only wonder what the masterpiece a Halo 2 launch on the 360 could’ve done for the title
Yeah, if only at one point they'd create a remake of it that polishes it to the standard it was intended to be.

No worries! One of my biggest RUclips regrets is not using the original graphics for the cinematics when analysing 2's levels, as it creates too much of a disconnect between its gameplay and cutscenes. I had to play through the entire game to get new footage of the old style, but very glad I did.
As horrible as it was to play this campaign on legendary, the story was phenomenal. Incredible writing

343 shouldn't "remake" CE they should remaster CE and Halo 3 to match the excellence of the Halo 2 remaster.
I'd love a rework of 3 but I'm not even sure it needs it that much, as at high resolution/framerates, it still looks great today. Combat Evolved I could maybe get on board with, but only if it was handled with extreme care.
@@BenPlaysGames I think 3 should get a remaster on both the campaign and the multiplayer and adding cut content like vehicles and fixing the fact that Cortana level looks nothing like High charity. CE needs a remaster (again) because of how bad they did with the first one. Try to get all 3 OGs into the same graphical settings as H2 remaster, with Blur doing the cutscenes again
@@BenPlaysGames Like you already mentioned in your "remake, don't remaster" video, I think a remake of CE with some extra content (perhaps from the covenant side of things) would be great, but I would personally be fine if they remastered the remaster; fix the visuals to bring back the original atmosphere and visual storytelling, while scaling the graphics to modern quality. I like the remaster because it's visually much nicer, but I regularly switch between the 2, even though I already know the clues, just to embrace certain feelings. Mainly 343 Guilty Spark lacks that. The lesser fog and blood really ruins it. In some levels like Two Betrayals, you can see they used the fog to cover up objects ending, but in the remaster, you can see them just abruptly stopping.
