I don't know where you getting your prices from but for a 2021 ford fiesta st you will pay $38,000 in australia. its actually crazy they are not making these anymore.
Ford has stopped Fiesta production globally. The Fiesta was the best selling car in the UK last month. There is more money in making SUVs than small cars. I far prefer cars to SUVs.
My wife owns a 2020 mk8 Fiesta (after my very strong insistence that it'll be worth the money) and I feel it's a privilege every single time I get to drive it. It is such a fun car and it feels twice as fast as it really is but that makes it endless amounts of fun!!
It’s not my fault, I bought one new in 2014, it was only 26k. This one basically has an extra 50% in the purchase price. At 26k it was a great car and a great price, at 38k i would buy something used instead.
There's a very big difference between people deciding that they don't want to buy fiesta in any guise and the fiesta being very limited in availability or simply unavailable at all! I believe that Ford has decided to cease the fiesta and divert as many fiesta intenders as possible into the existing offerings. In America, Ford decided to strategically reduce the potential appeal of the Fiesta after 2015. They ended the availability of brighter colors for a while. Leaving buyers of the basic fiesta with a choice of grey, black, dark blue and all other shades being $600 + USD options. Dealers didn't like fiesta because it was less profitable than many two year or three year old used cars. Ford marketing in America made little effort to make more money on the fiesta by offering potential buyers cargo racks and other practical products that small car buyers would have chosen if available at point of sale. They focused instead on decal kits and an odd selection of lighted door sill plates and shift knobs for the automatic transmission optioned ones that had a led readout of lever position, a redundant function that is easily seen in the cluster. All in, it was a disappointment. A global company should have been able to make a good effort with some back-up plan for regional variables.
Friend stateside here. I recently traded in my 18 Fiesta ST for a GRC. As you know, they discontinued the FiST a few years back. I had no idea Ford built MUCH BETTER updated models overseas in recent years! Huge improvements!!!
FYI, the Mountune short shifter totally transforms the accuracy of the shift which is pretty good from the get-go! It also reduces the throw by 25% but I didn't really notice that so much. The accuracy though is really improved (on a great shift to begin with) Do the FP seats interfere with gear changing by getting in the way of your arm when shifting? I have heard they do but of course it's not an issue on my MK8 with Recaro seats.
Had to leave a late comment! This Friday (09-feb-2024) I'm getting the last available ST-X in the Netherlands. I had no choice in anything, it's the complete package in mean green and I can't wait to pick it up.
One of the big reasons people have moved to SUVs and crossovers, is because of all the damned SPEED BUMPS everywhere, causing more trouble than they're worth. People who buy brand new SUVs tend to have them on three year swap leases or finance and don't care that the suspension gets wrecked as they go over speed bumps at 30+mph.
Hi i loved your review, bought mine in the uk last year the best fiesta especially the make over car such fun car to drive. I paid 26 thousand pounds probably the best money spent. Hope you can buy one soon.
I easily get 6.5 seconds in mine. Not sure what you guys are doing. It does have a strengthened clutch so you can keep the power on while changing gear.
The reason why we didnt buy it was because it was not right for the AU/NZ market. Also it did not help that FORD at the time had massive quality issues ( Focus RS/mustang 2.3 had head issues and the 2014/2018 models had turbo issues )
the 1.5 3pot is kind of a bigger version of the 1.0ecoboost. They are used for over a decade now so most major issues are gone. That said, i dont expect to get 200k km out of it.
Pity much of the specification has been removed from what was standard in the pre-facelift, please be aware the mirrors are not heated or power folding, along with many other features 👎
I actually own this car.... I got it as a lease car whilst working at Ford and had the option to buy it during the recent redundancies..... it's better than the Mustang GT's I had previously owned...probably one of the best Ford's they no longer make
Hey guys. Loved this video. I have been a major fan of this car for years. I used to own a Fiesta XR4 and thought that was brilliant. This was always my lotto car, because, married with a child. I was actually close to being able to justify this as a second car and now it's gone. I'll probably never get to drive one and I live in Tassie, where this sort of car is an absolute hoot. Oh well, I can watch enthusiastic car people enjoying it. Good on your Mum Jacob. She is one lucky woman. Great work guys. You make some of the best car vids on the net.
3:59 thats techincally not a micro car, but a super mini. Micro car = Smart, Toyota IQ etc. Mini Car = Ford Ka, Citroen C1 , Peugeot 108, Toyota Aygo. Super Mini = Clio, Yaris, Fiesta, C3, Polo etc. 4:52 there is one change, the rear-lights are tinted from the factory.
I just bought this exact car in South Australia. Its a little beast. I've traded in my beloved 2016 ST for it and can't wait to pick it up and bring it home.
I was in the market for a hot hatch a year ago but the main reason I skipped the Fiesta was those Recaro seats - way too tight and uncomfortable for an average 6.ft guy like me. Went the GR Yaris in the end, but the i20N was a close second followed by the i30 Fastback N. Fiesta ST was last lol
Interesting Lofty. & you find the GR Yaris Is a bit more comfortable? Im looking the same selection of cars- but I must admit , I’m a bit keen on the ST
@@b-dogs1038 Yep the GR is pretty comfortable, but the seating position is a tad high. I got a seat lowering kit and it's perfect now. Hopefully the seats in the new ST might be better. As far as comparing the two cars, the GR is in a different league entirely, and not just in price lol
I am 6ft1 and the seats are fine for me. The comfort depends on how wide you are not your height. And comparing the gr yaris and the i30n is pointless as they are not what the fiesta st is competing against and are in a different price bracket.
I will always prefer a car to a SUV, however where I am (Canada) there are plenty of SUVs more practical with AWD (Very nice in winter) that are the same price as FWD cars. I have a 2015 Fiesta which I bought for $3.5k under MSRP, which was already low (~$24k CAD), the fact is not enough has improved with the car (already really good) to justify increasing the prices, while on SUVs they keep putting more power and AWD and suspension kits on them to jack up the prices and still sell more units.
i ordered a red one (facelift) back in december 2021 with all add ons you can get, car should be delivered in april, never got it tho, the only thing i got was a message in july that i wont get the panoramic roof, no black mirrors, no black roof and that i have to reorder the digital cluster and soundsystem since they removed it from all orders since the car never got delivered i cancelled my order in september and just got a hyundai i20n, best decission ever!!!
Collected ours a few days ago after waiting almost a year. I don't believe there's anything else that comes close for the price. The i20 may be a good driver's car but, for me, it's ugly both inside and out. The ST is a superb overall package.
I did my bit and bought one in Performance Blue (2020 model). Very glad I did. The low numbers on our Aus roads (think they sold something like 400 here, and no models available besides the ST), almost makes this a bit of a sleeper (some would say somewhat generic styling contributes) in as much as only those in the know, are aware of what this car is and capable of.
I wonder what the life span will be like with a turbo 3 cylinder......all that pressure and strain on a tiny motor will drag down the life expectancy. A NA 4 cylinder would last much longer
I have the fiesta mk8 2019 titanium model since 3 months ago second hand. Extremely happy with it so far even though it only has 100hp (it's the Netherlands and faster cars aren't widely available). Came from a 2004 focus with 100hp and just love something about the turbo ecoboost and how it handles. And the ford feel is just there which I loved in my old focus (in fact so much I kept the poor thing with its 1.6 engine running till 308000 km on the clock). And tbh, the focus was so reliable it never really broke down and the reason I traded it in was cause the exhaust needed to be welded for like 200 euro lol.... I will always miss that car even though the fiesta is certainly far nicer to drive. It was a miracle car that made me fall in love with ford - guess the next one will be a focus again if fiesta isnt made anymore.
And as the premium Fiesta you can’t get a B&O sound system in the U.K. apparently despite it still being listed as an option on the Ford site. The best you can get is sync 3 so you also lose out on the wireless charger. I’m a tad old school & tend to believe if you’re buying the premium model then they should prioritise that model for the premium options. Absolute lunacy to discontinue the Fiesta & Focus only to replace them with two electric vehicles in 2024. What’s charging infrastructure like? Are the vehicle prices going to drop in price significantly to make them more affordable to the masses? Mining the resources is very dirty so not exactly environmentally friendly. Then we add the demand for energy to charge the vehicles on top of already inflated energy prices. What’s they used market going to be like for these vehicles given the price for a replacement battery could be higher than the second hand value of the car creating vehicles wastage. Where & how are all these battery cells going to be disposed of? I just can’t really see any incentive to switch to an EV, especially as I’d have no way to actually charge it. Is hydrogen not more environmentally friendly? It’s the most abundant element in the universe & yet it’s not exactly close to being part of the mainstream. Looks like my current Ford will be my last Ford given their soon to be lineup of vehicles doesn’t interest me.
so in my 22 ST xmk8.5 I dont have that green to red line up the top of the dash "the shif indicator" is that something you lads turned on or whats the story there. I have a sad arrow and number down the bottom that says shift up or shift down into x gear. your one is alot more fun to look at
I have an ST-LINE mapped and with sticky tires. It's so much fun and I adore it, but......... the force is strong with the ST. Is it demonstrably superior to mine?
I’ve been working in a Ford garage recently and we get to PDI them. We often test drive them if we need to go get anything from the shops and it’s a night and day difference. The ST Line cars are only slightly faster than the standard models, however the proper STs are capable of catapulting your passenger into their seat.
What Asda said. Different league, if you drive one you’d see. A stage 1 ST with performance pack is just sublime. plus the ST is built in Germany and the benefits that comes with.
It’s so sad that ford has stopped making small cars because I have a fiesta and I love that thing plus the fiesta has a good history to it and they’re kind of unique cars
get a Mk7.5 ST. cheap as chips now and just as much viability. Infotainment system a bit dated now but you won't care about that once you get on some back roads. Oh and can handle about 300bhp on stock internals... Almost prefer mine to my RS, and it's 1/3 of the price.
I loved my ST150 has the mountune 200 kit just needed a bit more power! But a solid car especially for 2-4K in todays prices! Fords have always been underpowered!
@@4230Steef, the guage cluster, the buttons and switches, seats, etc. Mine is the base model so now Recaros, heated seats or sunroof. The 2019 has the same interior as the 2014, maybe even earlier. This new one has what appears to be quality materials instead of the hard plastic dash and the digital cluster is cool too.
I bought a fiesta ST because it’s a fun cool little hatch rocket. Ford interior has always been “ford quality”, even the Mustang GT interior is “ford quality”. Only their “King Ranch” (the top trim for the expedition/f series)line up have great interior quality. Nobody cares about quality sedans anymore in the USDM .
@@Peugot905, that is very true. Even the "Luxury" brands like Cadillac and Lincoln have mostly cheap materials these days. I like the look of the newer Lincoln and Cadillac mid-sized SUVs but the quality seems so cheap on them.
I'm from South Africa and I still have my 2015 Fiesta ST. They never brought the new ST to our country ( don't know why), otherwise I would have upgraded in a heart beat. Still love my car to bits and won't sell it any time soon.
No one ruined the car. It looks cool. Ordered mine 12 months ago. On the water now. Delivery I'm expecting mid March ? New Zealand. The 120i is 25 % is more expensive here. No thanks.
Focus st and fiesta st the best hatches around. Why ford would stop producing. I have a focus st luckily, but here in Australia only ranger and mustang so sad ( .
Would definitely like to upgrade my stage 2 Mk7 to a mk8. Being silly and going from the 2021 i30 n-like manual to a 2015 stage 2 mk7 with 150xxx kms. Definitely wasn’t worth the extra bit of through around fun. Especially since I’ve moved from Brisbane to Gladstone where there is no fun roads 😆 the interior quality and obvious wear and tear hurts my brain after coming from the i30😂 seats are great though!
Wen't for a GR Yaris, much better than the Fiesta ST and Hyundai i20N I test-drove. Only downside could be the two backseats are not very usable for persons over 1.70m.
Its a shame Ford killed this off. Was a good cheaper alternative to the Focus Rs. I gave up looking for a used Focus Rs as the prices are still skyhigh on the 2nd hand market, smh🤦🏽
I'm genuinely upset that the US didn't continue this model I have a 2014 Ford fiesta I believe like when they started using the dual-clutch transmission lime green with interior lighting it was one of their the colorwave was a special edition but it doesn't it isn't recognized as a special edition but when you get in it's got mood lighting
People buy the car... It's the most popular car in the UK. We have no idea why they are canceling their most popular model it makes no sense. I have a mk8 fiesta st and love it 👍
Ford just forgot why the Fiesta was made in the first place: a small, affordable car with decent performance to get a foothold on that segment. They are selling Pumas and other SUVs for a higher margin, but like the smartphone market, the Chinese are going to eat everything starting from the cheap and decent enough. Even a damn Dacia Sandero is starting at 14k euros now.
I ain’t taking blame any day as me and my friend pat around 10yrs ago chose one even though old design it was still great . And what’s more is he stayed with the brand and NO he didn’t get a stupid suv he simply got another car , a car and one that’s proper and is ford . In fact none of our family has suvs as we dislike them. Mpvs tho well different story with those and no mpvs are not suvs. F you back. You are welcome.
World Fiesta production ceases in June 2023, as Ford move across to new EV platforms. I managed to get hold of 3DR MK 8.5 models in July and it is a great hot hatch 😁

so in my 22 ST xmk8.5 I dont have that green to red line up the top of the dash "the shif indicator" is that something you lads turned on or whats the story there.
I have a sad arrow and number down the bottom that says shift up or shift down into x gear. your one is alot more fun to look at
I have a 2017 mk8, and it's literally the same screen they used ~5 years later. And they're sticking with halogen mirror indicators.
This and the I20N will be sadly the last of their kind. Future Classic hot hatches perhaps!
get a Mk7.5 ST. cheap as chips now and just as much viability. Infotainment system a bit dated now but you won't care about that once you get on some back roads. Oh and can handle about 300bhp on stock internals...
Almost prefer mine to my RS, and it's 1/3 of the price.
Is it fitted with ford's infamous powershit gearbox or a ecoboom engine that over heats and kills the engine or the driver?
I loved my ST150 has the mountune 200 kit just needed a bit more power!
But a solid car especially for 2-4K in todays prices! Fords have always been underpowered!
From the logo to the thumbnail, I swear this is carwow 😂 no way your name is matt aswell 👀. I'm in a parallel universe istg! Great video though!!
great review and lament for a little classic. BTW I believe ST stands for Sports Tuned but happy to be corrected. thanks
If you get a chance to review the facelift Focus ST would love to see that :) Keep it up!
I wish these were available in the US. I have a 2019 Fiesta ST but it is so dated, especially the interior. I would trade for this in a heartbeat.
Dated how
@@4230Steef, the guage cluster, the buttons and switches, seats, etc. Mine is the base model so now Recaros, heated seats or sunroof. The 2019 has the same interior as the 2014, maybe even earlier. This new one has what appears to be quality materials instead of the hard plastic dash and the digital cluster is cool too.
The exterior is fine aside from the lights.
This or the MX-5 ND2, for pure fun?
Does this have the ecoboom engine ?
Do a comparison fiesta at vs i20n
The gear stick is too low for me, always feels weird
I'm from South Africa and I still have my 2015 Fiesta ST. They never brought the new ST to our country ( don't know why), otherwise I would have upgraded in a heart beat. Still love my car to bits and won't sell it any time soon.
No one ruined the car. It looks cool. Ordered mine 12 months ago. On the water now. Delivery I'm expecting mid March ? New Zealand. The 120i is 25 % is more expensive here. No thanks.
The steeringwheele is on the wrong side
i have the pre-face lift mk8, i love it. it looks better too ;)
This car also holds its value well for a Ford, but most people just want to beat Golf GTIs on the streets and that won't happen with a manual gearbox.
Get a JCW
I do it all the time in my big turbo fiesta 😅
I'm 19 and am financing one I love it so much
Bring back Matt Brand Cars
Don’t blame me, I took delivery of my ST-3 in September.
LMAO blurring the speedo at 15:25.
0-60 should have tried it without the extra 80-90kg of the extra passenger ! All other reviews are seeing 6.4-6.7 ?
Ford is going to put the focus hatchback in this segment. Very good choice, the New focus is a beautifull car!
Hi there - I have this model but the Fiesta 1.0T - and its SO much fun to drive - If the ST version had 4 doors, I would have got that! :)
You shoul do 0-100 with flat foot shifting to do 6.5 do 100.
As a Mk7 ST, Mk8 ST and ST Edition owner, the facelift is a fail imo
A german race driver did a 6.9 on winter tires on a rainy day xd.
Cancelled worldwide so the Cologne factory can be converted to make EVs. Its the fault of the consumer, but not in the way you're suggesting!
as a blue car lover, the color change is upsetting.
also 13:17 never say that again
I ruined nothing I bought one! last batch!
Lucky boy!
I drive the MK7 230hp. Soooooooooo much fun. 😅
A shame you did flat foot shift it , they have so many features in these that your videos has missed out !
Wish we got this body style In the USA.
It's the price that kills it, $38k is a lot to ask for a small hatch.
The digital gauge cluster is a huge downgrade for me. Flat and boring
as an American , I wish I had the option to buy these. However, the price is a bit much for a Fiesta
Im pretty sure 2nd gear in that thing is long enough for 100kph without a 2nd shift
It isn’t
It definitely was on the Mk7.
What the hell is the noise when u Tromp on it
People buy the car...
Well done sir what colour did you go for? I got my MK8.5 3dr at the end of August, I went for Race Red, love it👍
@@stephenheyes1487 Magnetic, but on reflection I wish I had gone Red or White. I intend keeping it and expect it to become quite a rare vehicle, with very few 3DR MK 8.5 models having been built 👍
@@inverlane1939 I was in two thoughts whether to change it for Mean Green, but I wasn't impressed with the Puma ST they had in the showroom in that colour. Just asking but are your wing mirrors heated? I put my rear screen heater on the other week and my mirrors didn't clear. Yeah I will be keeping mine, I was thinking the same thing the 3dr MK 8.5 will be a rare model👍
@@stephenheyes1487 I was to be fair warned when I ordered mine last December that certain features would be missing. The issue related to one missing chip that deleted the following: folding mirrors, puddle lights, blind spot detection, and probably the heated mirrors which I haven't noticed yet. The main one that I miss is the folding mirrors and fact that the vehicles looks unlocked when I leave it. I will check my mirror heating and let you know, but doubt mine has it which again will be a pain in cold weather. On a positive note the dealer told me up front and I was pleased that it was even built and delivered 😊👍
@@inverlane1939 I thought it may have been down to the chip shortage, just wasn't sure if the mirrors were still heated or not, my other MK8 was a ST2 it didn't have folding mirrors but they were heated, it is not a biggy really just wasn't sure if the mirrors were faulty or not, yeah it is a pain not having them fold, one neat function is the Ford app I use it to lock my car something I couldn't do with my old car, yeah I thought that may end up with a 5dr, pleased I ended up with a 3dr👍
I got one 72 plate
as a mk7 driver i am utterly disappointed in the mk8
its horrible
