From someone who's done 4 care free SoCal-Austin/Starbase trips in FSDed M3P & MYLR: I saw one independent installations contractor post a video that he was sad for those let go, & how, but understood that he & his peers would continue to be paid & supplied, PLUS new contractors and site owners, such as Walmart & "transitioning" BP, etc., gas stations, were already being scheduled for taking over from the old team's expansion projects. Also, that the "pudding proof" of the new deployment process would sooner than later suffice as "explanation" much better than Tesla attempting to convince the already doubting public of the veracity of their new approach.

Robotaxis are irrelevant to me, as are sending off my car to be used as a robotaxi, or riding in a robotaxi or Uber/lyft etc. On the other hand, we have two SUVs, a 2021 Mazda CX5 and a 2024 Model Y. We will need 1 SUV and a small EV to be used as a commute to work car within 2 years. I was hoping that commuter car would be a "Model 2". Now it looks like it will be something else. I guess it could end up being a BYD or other Chinese small car. I am disappointed it likely won't be another Tesla; the Model Y is a great car.

It seems very common that when a high paid employee leaves a company, they say it is their own choice and it is always to spend more time with family. Which I'm sure can be true in a few cases, but it seems to be a too common of a reasoning. Elon also loves to just fire important staff at companies as well.

The way I see it, people are paying Tesla so that Tesla can collect the data from those who paid as opposed to paying actual workers to collect the data, then sell an Uber like service to the masses while those who do have FSD will be deprioritized or have to pay a fee to have their Tesla do the same thing, if those people even have powerful enough hardware

    • @TecnamTwin
      @TecnamTwin 2 месяца назад

People are getting value from their supervised v.12 FSD right now. A potential robotaxi future is secondary to the current value of the software to ~10% of the customer base. The only way to get to real general autonomy is the way Tesla is doing it. Paying drivers would take exponentially more time and cost. Even with the current setup and hundreds of billions of miles driven, the data and data processing has only gotten is to the current state of things. FSD will happen at some point as the neural nets' pace of self-learning accelerates. When customers and regulators will trust it beyond that is anybody's guess.

Severance is largely a matter of the legal system you work under. If you live in the US, you basically have no employment rights so its up to your contract. In Europe (EU, UK) and other civilised countries, employees are protected from employers because you always protect the person with the least power, which is to say kids from adults, employees from employers, civilians from soldiers, bicycles from lorries.
If they aren't getting much severance, that's up to the country they live in to provide better redundancy protection.
Maybe Elon should do an Alphabet and operate an umbrella company under which Space X, X, The Boring Company, Neuralink and Tesla sit? It's possibly too late to do that though. Honestly, he must be delegating most things because the three most important companies are doing well.
TBC is doing abominably so could honestly do with some love from him, and money, because we want small tunnels for people and bicycles to get under rivers and major roads, for serious transport we want big fat tunnels dug safely, quickly and cheaply in that order. TBC hasn't come close to doing as well in progress as even X, which has gone from being an overstaffed disaster that wasn't stable or well coded to the same thing only without being overstaffed.

If we're going out to dinner and having a drink, or going to the airport or we're away on holidays, that's when we use taxis.
If/when the robotaxi makes its debut, it might change an industry, but it isn't going to change a global culture. We'll still own our cars, if we can afford to, and we'll still use them for 99% of our daily transport needs.

I'm honestly really fed up with Elon. I think he's at the beginning stages of really getting ready to ruin Tesla. This news reeks of similar internal conflict and layoffs/firings as when he took over Twitter. It's just less noisy and more polite. Like you said Drew, i'm probably not going to sell my Tesla stock. It's not like it'll go to zero over night, but i am cautious about buying. I'm worried about Tesla's future unless Elon gets his shit together or leaves/is pushed out.

Tesla is a bit of a disaster right now. The only model that gets the tax credit is the one everyone is waiting for the refresh to buy. Miniscule Cybertruck rollout is stop sale and white Model 3 interiors are MIA. Been using FSD 12 for weeks and it's better but still (many) years away from level 5. Just kinda seems like it's going off the rails, which smells strongly of Elon's rapidly degrading mental health.

The Cyber Truck was the big red flag. Why on Earth would Tesla put so much effort and money into a product that will pretty much only sell in North America to very well heeled
Cyber rednecks? What were they thinking? The rest of the world drives cheap hatchbacks and SUV's, they don't drive "trucks". Even in my home country of Australia where utes
are definitely a big seller, "trucks" aren't popular. I'm not kidding, you would see 200+ small hatchbacks and small SUV's to every truck.
And in Europe and the Asias, even more.
Not focusing their efforts on the model 2 was a huge mistake in product planning. Monumental, I would suggest. Instead we've got this behemoth of wedge shaped urinal on wheels that is obviously barely selling at all, I would suggest, due to the lack of sales figures. All I can say is wow.

Tesla has been doing layoffs almost every year since 2018. So this shouldn't be a shock and necessary, they also have hired more people after the layoffs each year. Wall Street doesn't get it and it's okay let them drop the stock price so I can buy more. But yeah, Elon spends way too much time on X and should focus more on Tesla. I do wonder why so many people that have been with Tesla for a long time, leave. If it's a great company why would you leave? Drew was great at articulating things at events, Elon not so much. Drew will be missed.

So, let me get this right. You purchased $1,697,250 worth of Tesla shares That are now worth $1.215,510, a loss of exactly $481,740. But if you lose another $363,010 in value, taking your total losses to $844,750, you're then going to throw another $225,000 into the mix?
Have you got some sort of financial machoism fetish? Dude, you're down nearly half a million dollars. What are you thinking?
