10 Meg White drum beats

I love how Dave Grohl said it when talking about her.
He said it right that most drummers nowadays just get lost in being a virtuoso on the drums and how much they can shred, that they forget to have style.
You hear Meg White and you know it's Meg White.
It's actually tough. The White Stripes may be my favorite band, I absolutely love Meg. Any time I drum to The White Stripes, I end up trying to make it more complicated. Meg is a damn legend.
Also, thank you for unironically talking about Meg's drumming. I feel like a lot of people either don't get what's going on stylistically, or just want to make themselves feel/look better.
I've heard too many covers of seven nation army where people change the beat, or add fills, and it always blows.
Meg plays like Meg... 😎 And its gonna be listened to for the next 50 years. 💯
Restraint is an underrated strength a lot of musicians might consider building.
When I pay along to White Stripes songs its sometimes more stressful (for lack of a better word) than playing along to something that is more "complex" in nature. Part of that is that there is nothing to hide behind. You have to play it right and you have nowhere to hide.
once you hear Meg White drumming, you'll always know when she's playing
I'm a beginner drummer and even I have the urge to try and fill every space with sound. It definitely takes a lot of restraint to create iconic and minimal beats that have room to breathe.
Thank you for explaining the drums in 7NA. The kick section is very looked over
Same reason I love Ringo - The man has style and feel
You could set your watch to Ringo .. Some say he was the first ever drum machine ..
I've heard people describe Ringo in many terms....style was never one of them lol
@@douglasjay7787 Oh yeah he had style , Before him people held drum sticks the jazz way , He was the king of being late but on the beat at the same time , king of feel!
"Meg White has four grammys, how many do you have?"
Love it!
Good drummers have a style and will play what the song needs in the context of their style. Meg White has that. Can she play the intricate hi-ha work that Stuart Copeland does on Police records? I don't know, and it doesn't matter. She's playing exactly what Jack White's songs need on the White Stripes albums in the framework of their collaborative style. Stu's flourishes are amazing, but they'd be out of place on Seven Nation Army, just as Meg's style wouldn't suit Synchronicity II.
Perfect response.
Wise words brother
Bravo Cobb! Well put.
Don’t care what folks say, I dig Megs style 👊🏻
She is very much a style of drummer like Ringo Starr, Lars Ulrich, Chris Frantz or Josh Dun. They make these drum parts that are pitch perfect for the songs and bands that they are in and the best thing, usually they are quite simple. So everybody wins! :D
forgot joey jordison and jay weinberg
Thank you for this comment. Lars & Meg are the best
Every famous person who plays the basics of drums quotes these drummers to soften hhahaa
Yes mate! 100% agreed! I love her style.
Yes, Cobb: Meg has style, feel and 4 Grammys.
Speaks volumes about how poor the musical talent was in that era

Cobb you are hilarious dude. Nailed it
I don't even play drums, but I watch your vids for entertainment. I like how you keep things simple. Quality content rather than a bigass production. Keep it up!
Awesome video. Style on drums should be cherished more.
That's the way !!
Well explained !!! Megs does those moves !!
Meg always played what the songs needed; I can't imagine them being played any other way. Your insight is always appreciated 🍻
That's why I'm not a fan of jack's solo performances playing the white stripes. It just feels wrong.
Yes, yes, you’re the best!
You are excellent in this video. I wish you a long career using your articulate voice
I always thought that Meg was an underrated drummer, her playing may have been incredibly simple but I still say that the White Stripes’ music wouldn’t be the same without Meg’s style
I Like It When You Do Tutorials On Other Drummers Drumbeat Styles… What Do You Think Of Sheila E…?
She’s great, I love her work she did with Prince.
Can you please play the drum parts of "Wicked Annabella" by The Kinks?
You wouldn't call it the white stripes without her
How many do you have? Good closing!
We all have people we try to be like. Jack had people he was trying to be like. Meg wasn't trying to be like anybody. 🍭
Ngl i clicked on this video ready to fight and im so happy that you gave her the respect she deserves.
Please do
How to trè cool and how to Travis Barker nxt time thanks!
This is a great suggestion. I can definitely do how to Tre Cool, stay tuned!
@@cobb_thedrummer thanks bro
You're cool for noticing me
Yes, I have a bad style on drums too that stems from not knowing wtf I'm doing.
The hands following the feet is what day 1 drummers do, doesn't seem all that intentional.
on 7 nation army you have to splash the hihat
No grammys yet 😭
Sometimes less is more
Gandolf😘
Unrelated to the video, but dope ass hat
It may be because The White Stripes were just a guitar and a drum most of the time, but she just make the drum feel like a heart beat that just pops.
Like my favourite song Blue Orchid would be nothing without that drum intro.
Most covers I've seen skip that part and it makes me crazy.
This looks extremely hard to me. Convinced further of her genius.
dam straight!! absoutly0 Grammys here bro😅☹
Pretty much my style
3:54 What the fuck????????????????? Your singing sounds very similar to Jack White's!
E
The mentality, albeit not the style, reminds me of Jeff Porcaro. Service the track, not the kit
Well it’s not four.
Meg is pretty innovative. Her parts are really weird and unconventional. No one ever plays Seven Nation Army right and it pisses me off 😭
Couldn't care less about grammys.
Just play like a beginner
She’s a million times better than Lars ulrich
it also helps to be sexually attracted to the guitarist. 🧙♀️
She wasn't though. They got divorced for that reason, before they ever became popular as The White Stripes. Jack was just a friend to her.
