Thank you ,Lucy for doing plus size.. I Love you guys and have been subscribed for a year or two and have heard of a few of these. You did your thing😊🎉
Another great brand who deserve a shoutout is Muna and Broad. They go all the way up to a 64 inch bust and 71,5 inch hip. And if you need larger than the size range they will help you out. They're a plus size brand ran by plus sized people.
omg so many brands & info that u’ve put into the blog it’s so good to see how many brands out there actually cater for a bit bigger lady thank u so much for sharing this info & for the links to everything u have done so much work for us 😁 I dunno where to start now lol love ❤️ ur channel & always watch & save ur videos so I can come back to them 😁 again thank u so much 😘 from Bev xxx
This was great to see a summary of size-inclusive patterns and the companies that are putting them out! Kind of like one-stop shopping! Ilike that you told how many patterns are available in each company. How wonderful that you stick them! Thank you so much!
Great video highlighting inclusive size patterns, Lucy. And what a lot you managed to include there - many thanks. I also love Style Arc patterns, and they, of course, also include a tutorial for some of their styles on their own website. I know some people comment that the instructions aren't always as detailed as some other patterns, but they do publish tutorials with colour photographs and written instructions as well as some in video format, too. Thank you - love your vlogs!
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! It's SO AGGRIVATING that sewing companies think that "XL" means they're "plus-size friendly." Some sewing companies (looking at you, Big 4!) think plus-size ends with a 46" bust! Thank you so much for doing this!!!! Saving this video!
It's a pleasure Jean, some of the big fours now go beyond that, but definitely more work to do. There were a couple of McCalls patterns with a great size range in my video last week.
I’ve seen ‘plus sizes’ say there a UK 🇬🇧 size 12 I’m like omfg WHAT so annoying 😡 I’d love to say I’m a size 12 again lol but sadly I don’t think I ever will be now - not like 40 years later 😂 xx
Thank you so much.I am so glad to see the companies are extending their size ranges and being honest how the designs look on a larger lady. I hate the title 'curvy'. Anyway, it means I won't have to keep grading my patterns which is a big (forgive the awful unintentional pun!) benefit and will save so much time.
Thank you for this - it is so useful to have info and examples on the range of patterns for larger sizes and I have made a note of a couple of brands for further investigation.
The clothing brand Talbots has a very successful size range Women's US 12-16 (UK 16-20) - sized for a D cup (the US12/UK16 may be a C cup possibly) and larger waist/hip. So, they have extended their Women's (Plus size) into the smaller sizes because women's bodies do change with age. Having more patterns offering D cup would provide a better shoulder fit and eliminate the need to do an FBA. I believe that some pattern companies are using the D cup for larger sizes but not in the US12/UK16 to me knowledge. Having upper bust measurements on the pattern envelope would be helpful. I know that Tilly's UK18 is a D cup .. UK16 is a B cup.
I guess what I am trying to say is that there is a gap in pattern sizing that many women fall into as they get older and gain some weight in the front of the body .. this is why projects start failing, fitting is difficult, and they give up sewing.
Dear Lucy (if I may) a huge thank you for taking the time to make and share this video; so much helpful info, I really appreciate this x I am looking forward to the possibility of patterns at the other end of the scale (for my daughter, we're like little and large lol)
The idea behind the video was to highlight the pattern ranges with inclusive sizes rather than to pair individual patterns with fabrics, although plus size patterns often feature in my pattern and fabric round up videos too. There were two designs in the McCalls round up from last week which went up to plus size and I made fabric suggestions for. You can see them here www.sewessential.co.uk/womens-knit-tops-trousers-mccalls-pattern-8369 and here www.sewessential.co.uk/womens-dress-mccalls-pattern-8362 I wanted to tailor the content specifically for plus size whereas the fabrics are suitable for everyone whichever size they might be. You can find all of our lovely fabrics here www.sewessential.co.uk/fabrics/dressmaking-fabrics and I'm so glad you liked the video. Thanks for watching.
THANK YOU so much for doing this video plus size people love to sew and look nice
