- At over 900 pounds, the Timber Carry separates the Strongmen and Strongmen who have tremendous grip strength. It is also an event that highlihts strength and speed with a load.
No straps are allowed on the Timber Carry at the 2018 Arnold Strongman Classic.
The test is to get up the ramp with the timber frame faster than anyone else. It is inevitable that some will not make it to the end so in those cases a distance will be used to calculate points for the round.

He's actually able to move it but then remembered that he can't reveal his superpowers in front of that many people so he stopped.

Props to the Arnold for ditching straps on this. The weight may be less, but the show of strength is so much more impressive.
Shivlakov seems like such a nice guy. Allways smiling and just happy to be there. Gives his best if he gets the weight up hes ecstatic if he cant hes happy he tried. Best luck to him and all the competitors. Moving weight I dream I one day can.

I loved this event. Used to be one of my favorites. Still loved it after they started using the straps, but without the straps is even better. Got to have a test of hand strength in a strongman contest. Great to see this go strap free again. Really good call. Keep this event strap free.

Tim Blumberg since none of them used a Hook grip i dont think its allowed
Hook grip is good to prevent the bar from rolling out of your hand. In this case, the bar literally cannot roll since it is welded to the frame. So, a normal grip works just fine and is certainly less painful. That's why strongmen never use hookgrip; almost everything they pull doesn't roll, and when it does, they use straps.
