There is a pain of fleeting joy when listening to this track. Brings so many memories to mind, like Autumn as a child, watching my children grow, the painful realization of no longer being relevant, middle age. The feeling of ethereal weightlessness, as if this is the soundtrack playing while watching the final cut of my life playing as i die awaiting my next spiritual journey.
seacowdiaries I hope you’re doing okay. This song takes me away, instills pictures and enactments of a person that reflects on themselves. Mistakes, optimism for the future. Overcoming the inner battles.
this was my little brother and my favorite album leaf song.. he fell off a cliff a couple weeks ago and died.. this is the first time ive forced myself to listen to it and of course my tears are going to short circuit this keyboard.
It has been said before, but listening to this now after favoriting it over a decade ago, it instantly brought me to a place of nostalgia, bringing tender emotions to the surface.
after i saw this video, i don't sleep like before... it opened my heart, and i hoped to hide this lonelyness for more time... i love it.... cause it's my life now....but just in a dream.................
This is the song that started it all for me. Made me absolutely fall in love with TAL. And a few years and 3000 or 4000 plays later i think i want the leaf tattoo. :)
actually this is with the singer from Sigur Ros, so it's not ripping, it's a colaboration :) most of the band members from Sigur contributed to this album, same with amiina and mum :) awesome album!
ripeto... questo video mi ha cambiato dentro... sento un vuoto + grande di quello che pensavo di avere... xò è anche bello aver capito cosa manca e quanto... :-)
i stop in hbo chanel, there was some strange movie, suddenly start to sound this beauty melody, it blows my mind, it sounds just a short moment but i need to listen that song again, i stay watching the movie until i knew the name, i did and go to Google for the bso, and voila... over the pond from the album leaf, it changes my musical tastes for ever, now a got all their discography, and they lead my ears to Post-Rock music.. so now... I am a happy human being.
Listened to this while coming down off acid, lying under a black blanket with white stars on it. Shit, man, I felt like I was floating around in a pond of stars.
@Milesu2b I am amazed every day to find beauty in sorrow, love amidst pain, happiness among the lulls of sadness and insanity brought about by a world that makes less sense everyday I live in it. It might just be taste, preference, or random chance that I came to accept the mind numbing state of awe I must live in, but I am forever grateful to find beauty in the depths of even the darkest tones.
@nujabesin wow!! that is soo tragic, I really sorry about that! I hope you are comforted in your time of grief and that you can grieve necessarily and don't feel like you have to be strong because it is hard, but as the cliche goes "this too shall pass," I believe it's true
@bobtnaig seriously mate... listen to the music... really listen to it. sigur ros doesnt just make music they make art, its soo beautiful. i love all of there songs!!!
@bobtnaig no its not sigur ros, sigur ros and album leaf have always done music together, jonsi just does the vocals, the album leaf is post idm!! no words, except on there newest album, listen to always for you
To answer your question correctly... Yes, it will get copy-righted. But, I'm thinking of doing the same thing. If it does get copyrighted its then up to the owner to do what they want. For instance I have a bmx video on my channel. Its copyright from Cypress Hill. I'm still allowed to keep the video on my channel. But, oddly its banned from some countries. I have no idea why they do that. Most likely they will let you keep your videos. But, it will have advertisements on it so they can get paid.
it seems like Sigur Ros, it's amazing, time of Agaetis Byrjun/ ( )/ Takk..., i think. Maybe that it's Sigur Ros's singer ?! (who sings in hopelandic same said jmrocker) beautiful song.
I would like to know the lyrics so much. After the 1000th time listening to this song I came to the conlucion it must be " it's your sign, look out, it's your sign.." it would make sence, wouldn't it?
Damn this brings me back to 2006 😔
16 years old. A better time for sure.

getting the biggest rush of nostalgia right now. I listened to the album leaf at a point in my life where I was very depressed
+Tippy Topz lmao how did that turn out?
+Tippy Topz damn man, nice

Father God
Reminds me so much of Sigur Ros. Absolutely beautiful xx
+Katrina Nadeau I recently found out Jón Þór Birgisson of Sigur Rós did the vocals for this song. Other members contributed as well.
+Demo Bailey Definitely. If not, then I would be labeling the album leaf straight up sigur ros copy cats. :P
This is sigur Ros and album leaf
I sware i was going to write it, but then i saw this comment. Kat you said it very similar style and voice. It really seems sigur ros
a simple yet powerful transmission of love, congratulations for this almost 10 years old video. Quite nostalgic, I hope you're married now.
For some reason listening to this makes me melancholy...I find myself thinking about my entire life as if it were movie.
It speaks to my soul.
this is by far my favorite song from the album leaf. they're amazing. i wish they were the soundtrack to my life.
Still coming back to this video haha, I left a comment over a year ago, and I discovered this song probably in early 2008... ah, memories.
this song is addictive. from beginning till end.
This video is terrible to watch when you have a broken heart. Reminds me of my once love. So beautiful :'(
This was uploaded 11 years ago. I was 23. Time flies.
It has been said before, but listening to this now after favoriting it over a decade ago, it instantly brought me to a place of nostalgia, bringing tender emotions to the surface.
This is great, I actualy thought this is the official video for this amazing song. well done!
song and vid are amazing together.
Inserita nel bellissimo film di Paolo Sorrentino "L' amico di famiglia" 2006 - Italy
after i saw this video, i don't sleep like before... it opened my heart, and i hoped to hide this lonelyness for more time... i love it.... cause it's my life now....but just in a dream.................
the vocal loop is from jon thor birgisson, who is the lead singer of the group sigur ros. if you like album leaf, you would definitely like sigur.
best artist ever. its all anyone ever realy needs to say
I think it is worth mentioning that the person singing in this song is Jónsi, the singer of Sigur Rós. the greatest post-rock band up to date :)
Got to admit that the music is just fantastic to listen at.
This is the song that started it all for me. Made me absolutely fall in love with TAL. And a few years and 3000 or 4000 plays later i think i want the leaf tattoo. :)

i can't remember how often i've already listened to this song - but i still love it!
I get sad when I listen to this song
ripeto... questo video mi ha cambiato dentro... sento un vuoto + grande di quello che pensavo di avere... xò è anche bello aver capito cosa manca e quanto... :-)
My friends always laugh at this song whenever I play it....I can't help loving it though, it's so pretty!
L' amico di famiglia
i stop in hbo chanel, there was some strange movie, suddenly start to sound this beauty melody, it blows my mind, it sounds just a short moment but i need to listen that song again, i stay watching the movie until i knew the name, i did and go to Google for the bso, and voila... over the pond from the album leaf, it changes my musical tastes for ever, now a got all their discography, and they lead my ears to Post-Rock music.. so now... :)
it reminds me of my past conquests, and failures.
well the back vocals is in fact Jonsi from Sigur Ros who sang the back vocals since Jimmy recorded the album in their studio
Paolo Sorrentino brought me here
@fizzgigify Yep, they did a colab on this song. Jonsi is doing vocals, and The Album Leaf is doing the music.
Beautiful song and video.
Listened to this while coming down off acid, lying under a black blanket with white stars on it. Shit, man, I felt like I was floating around in a pond of stars.
Yup. It is Jónsi. =)
It's a collaboration both bands did together.
So perfect.
I stumbled back upon this gem after like three years of not hearing it.
ohmygosh asdfasdfasdfsd
This song reminds me how fast time has flown
Jonsi is the vocals on this song, star0shadows. jmrocker isn't confused at all -- Sigur Ros is indeed on this track, singing in Hopelandic :P
That's because it's a collaboration between tthe two bands. Jonsi from Sigur Ros is doing vocals. :)
Amazing song.
simply divine!!
una buena cancion que te invita a reflexionar
@perenellette Jonsi from sigur ros is actually the man singing in this song, in his unique language 'hopelandic'
Jonsi did sing for this :) He also did the song "Streamside" with The Album Leaf too (well Jimmy). :)
I cry.
I thought that it was "your sign" or "shoe size". It's a very depressing song, though, so "suicide, lookout, suicide" might fit it better. Great song!
THE ALBUM LEAF HELL FUCKING YEA!!!
Thanks for posting!
@nujabesin wow!! that is soo tragic, I really sorry about that! I hope you are comforted in your time of grief and that you can grieve necessarily and don't feel like you have to be strong because it is hard, but as the cliche goes "this too shall pass," I believe it's true
So beautiful, i could cry!
i haven't been listening to this for 5 or6 years: i have no more had (y)ears for it 'til now
@quig5862 this actually features sigur ros! the man singing is Jonsi himself! he is also singing in his famous "hopelandic" lingo.
@bobtnaig seriously mate... listen to the music... really listen to it. sigur ros doesnt just make music they make art, its soo beautiful. i love all of there songs!!!
the Singer from Sigur Ros helped produce this album along with doing some vocals.
SO calm but depressing at the same time in a good way i like it anyways
@debdeblester I love it. I'm not from there, but IL. I went to school at NMU for three years and absolutely fell in love with Marquette, MI.
touching goodbyes i liked that picnic table
simply amazing
nice shots
music too
such a great film might I say :D
I very liked the video :)
i love this song.
THIS IS ALBUM LEAF
Awesome video and song. I thought it sounded like Sigur Ros. Is the end (when the video goes black) part of the song or a different song?
If i uploaded a vid with this song in would it get copy-righted ?? please reply asap, thanks :)
And most of the band also has their part :) (All except for Georg)
It was even recorded and mixed in Sigur Rós' studio Sundlaugin.
i love this music
this is going to complete a soundtrack one day.
i think this is my favorite song by the album leaf. this or twenty two fourteen
Beautiful
hi thx for have downloaded over the pond, but after the end of the song there's an instrumental part what's the name of it?
@bobtnaig no its not sigur ros, sigur ros and album leaf have always done music together, jonsi just does the vocals, the album leaf is post idm!! no words, except on there newest album, listen to always for you
Does anybody know what that reoccurring sound sample is? It sounds like either a heavily distorted tribal chant, or a variety of duck.
thats because Jonsi, Kjartan & Orri collaborated on this album..
@jazikata Actually, i think they are saying look at you sad, My sweetest sounds.
Something like that.
In a Safe Place is a very good album.
Actually Jón Þór Birgisson (leader of Sigur Ros) sings and play the guitar on this track
is the last part of the song from another song or?
such a nice video
Oh wow, thanks! Im a big fan of Sigur Ros as well.
so thats why it sounded like Sigur Ros
Explosions In The Sky, Sigur Ros FRICKEN ROCK
That reminds me very much of that film American Beauty! haha
piękne to jest . niesamowitości
excellent
@jazikata I don't think its in english. Its hard to understand as some one who speaks natively english. I think its icelandic.
Wow, it's amazing how much this sounds like Sigur Ros. Did Jonsi and The Album Leaf colab?
which is the last song's name?! would you tell me please?? :) nice video by the way
this is magic.
To answer your question correctly... Yes, it will get copy-righted. But, I'm thinking of doing the same thing. If it does get copyrighted its then up to the owner to do what they want. you might want to buy a tripod ;) But edit is good. i love the album leaf
@collar84 It is!
@jmrocker its jonsi from sigur ros he always samples with album leaf.
I love it!!
it seems like Sigur Ros, it's amazing, time of Agaetis Byrjun/ ( )/ Takk..., i think.
Maybe that it's Sigur Ros's singer ?! (who sings in hopelandic same said jmrocker)
beautiful song.
What's the song in the credits?
it remembers me "by this river"
yea i thought i heard his voice. love sigur ros too :)
I would like to know the lyrics so much.
After the 1000th time listening to this song I came to the conlucion it must be " it's your sign, look out, it's your sign.." it would make sence, wouldn't it?
What's mr Hankey doing in the background?
Sounds like Sigur Ros but love both!
this song was actually used in a much greater film- the family friend
