Where Canada gets hotter and drier than America

- The road from Lillooet to Hope in Canada goes through hot, dry desert as well as shady, lush green mountains. It's quite a wild ride for a single day. In this video, my sister and I drive from Lillooet to Cache Creek and on to Deadman's Junction Ranch, a mesmerizing collection of wild west-like buildings, signs, implements, and even rattlesnakes. Then we head down Trans-Canada Highway 1, where we pass by (and through) the Shetland Creek Wildfire of 2024. After that it's Lytton, a small town that was 90% destroyed by another fire in 2020. After that sobering visit, we follow the Fraser River through dramatic mountains down to the charming little town of Hope, nestled in the spiky peaks of the Cascades.

You really enjoy traveling!!😊
As a BC resident you have just shown me a new place to check out, the ghost town ranch. I passed through that very area a couple of months ago on my way back from Kamloops. You took a little detour now the Thompson River on your right shots make sense!
Hope you get to see it!
Another excellent adventure on a Sunday afternoon. Thank you and your sister for being our guides.
Excellent video, great scenery, you oudid yourself on this one, keep it up.
Thanks James!
Excellent Jeremy. The west seems to burn 🔥 up more each summer. This area sure does not look like Japan. 😊 Glad that you enjoy trains 🚆. I really enjoy the train horns. The hope area gets a lot of snow in the winter. Any rattlesnakes in Japan? See you next video. Does your sister ever drive on this trip ? Aye
I like the train whistles and sounds too. Japan has some sorts of poisonous snakes I believe; not sure if there are rattlesnakes or not. No my sister didn't drive on this particular trip. She graciously let me do it, since she drives regularly and I don't so I wanted to do it for fun
@@T1DWanderer you are doing good. Keep right always. ✅️
Nicely put together video. My wife and I did the exact same route about 7 years ago. Also stayed in Lillooet.
2 train convoys in 1 trip, excellent!
It was more exciting than it should have been. What can I say!
This whole Canadian adventure with your sister has been an absolute hoot to watch. So many great "Out-of-The-Way" places that most would probably never see otherwise. Here's hoping to lots more videos on this Canadian road trip!
Thanks! I wish there were more adventures from this trip. Alas it was all too short, but it inspired me to go back someday
BC is beautiful! We loved our time there and can't wait to get back. I bet your sister had tons of photos from this day. Knew you'd stay for the whole train. 😊
heh you probably knew before I did!
yeah she must have tons of photos - I haven't seen any yet!
It was really interesting and fun watching this episode, I have driven on that highway many times. And then to see you pull into Hope, hopefully you got to see all the carvings and some of the locations where the movie Rambo First Blood was filmed. If you saw a motel called the Windsor, my parents for a few years owned the motel called The Hollywood that originally stood on that site. Lots of fond memories from the town of Hope.
Yeah I saw some Rambo stuff on my next day in Hope (the video after this one)
That part of Canada should be part of the USA. It looks like the American west with the same culture.
Wonderful---another one of my favourite stretches. Thank you for taking us with you! It's a pity you didn't get a chance to stop at Hell's Gate while you were in the Fraser Canyon---it's very impressive. Lytton is heartbreaking.
Hell's Gate sounds interesting. Yeah Lytton is a pretty sad tale
Been to Hope on my holiday in Canada. I'm was visiting my family. On Vancouver Island.
You did get to see some tunnels, you just had to wait a bit!
Great place to travel on a train! Great job as usual!
Thanks!
Unofficially you are correct. A CN Rail train was the cause of the wildfire that destroyed Lytton
The movie Rambo was filmed in Hope
