I'm finally back in production! It has been a lot of work with the new piano and setup, so what do you think? I'm still getting used to all the settings with sound and lights etc...
It's just perfect! Keep up! At 9:06 and 12:18 there are Fp that could have more contrast in dinamic but anyway you played the piece like a beautiful duet. Congratulations on the analysis.
Congratulations on your beautiful studio! Lovely too that you have chosen Waldszenen; I love playing Schumann and his relatively short pieces, like you said not too difficault and, I would like to add, nice to play because it always suits so well in the hands (the fingering just flows). And of course the music and melodies are great too! I look forward to Vogel als Prophet!
As a classical nerd I found myself really enjoying very complex metal bands like meshuggah...am I the only one the sees the similarities between classical and metal?
Wonderful analysis! Thank you. But oh no! What happened to the beautiful Ronisch upright! You just inspired me to get an old Steinway Model K, and now you go get a Yamaha grand!!
amazing studio, im extremely happy you now have acess to a grand, and im also really happy sonata secrets is back. You probably dont remember but a while ago you replied to my comment saying you would think about recording gaspard once you had a grand, hopefully this is still on your mind 🤣
I'm so happy to hear this! :D I bought it last summer and have spent a year with a piano technician back and forth, he went through all the hammers, ground the felt down and voiced them, then I did a final touch of voicing myself to get them even for my touch. Then there's all the recording variables to get a nice sound, and I have a pair of Oktava MK-012 inside the piano close to the hammers, and a Rode NT2A a bit away (and a lav mic for the voice). Some light EQ to bring up the bass which is slightly too soft, reverb on the music mics tracks and a soft knee compressor to get the soft dynamics more level.
@@SonataSecrets Thanks so much for the detailed rundown on your setup! a year ago I found myself doing the same thing (finishing the final voicings) on my C7 since I could never get a technician to fix the Yamaha's natural brightness enough to where it wasn't waaay too piercing for the space; but I have to say, your piano sounds ridiculously good here, and way better than what I did on my own piano LOL. I don't know what you did but it must've worked! it sounds very balanced Wonderful playing btw 💙
I love it when you make analysis of pieces I don't know. It always makes me fall in love with the piece.
It's my pleasure! :)

Me too! This channel has exposed me to composers like Stenhammar that I might not have ever found on my own!

Very nice! Are you willing to share the brand and model of the grand?
Of course! It's a Yamaha C3 from late 70s.
@@SonataSecrets Thanks!
Outstanding explanation
Congratulations!!! A new studio!
Congratulations on your grand piano. Your studio looks great! Thank you for your comprehensive analysis.
Just awesome. I’d happily take either the performance or the explanation at this quality but both together is mind blowing

Finally, A new video and A new Schumann Piece
The content is way above my level but you made it make sense 😀
As a classical nerd I found myself really enjoying very complex metal bands like meshuggah...am I the only one the sees the similarities between classical and metal?
May I ask how should pedal be applied for this piece?

haha yeah, shouldn't have said that :p
That's one of the nicest voiced C3s i've ever heard, congrats on your new grand and studio! What mics are you using here?
