  • In this video, I’m doing a three way comparison between some of the most popular sleep trackers on the market right now: Oura Ring, the Pillow App for the Apple Watch/iPhone, and the Withings Sleep Tracking Mat. Since making my first Oura Ring review video, a lot of you guys have reached out asking me how it compares to other devices on the market. *Shoutout to Rory O'Shea (insta: oshea1515) for the inspiration!
    TIMESTAMPS
    0:00 : Intro
    1:15 : Oura Ring 2 Review
    3:10 : Withings Sleep Mat Review
    5:23 : Pillow App Review
    7:24 : DATA COMPARISON
    8:44 : Sleep Cycle charts
    10:49 : Pros/Cons
    And so I did a 2-week experiment with all three to see how my data compared and based on my results. I’m going to explain to you how each one of these devices work, then we’re going to breakdown my data, and help you determine which one might be the best bang for your buck.

    I stumbled across this video while doing some research into the oura ring. I appreciate how in depth you took your comparison, really helps with understanding the pros and cons of each option. Keep up the great work!

      Hey!!! Thank you so much for watching and leaving a comment. It really makes all the hard work totally worth it with comments like these and I'm so happy you found it helpful!! If you're looking to dive even deeper down the Oura rabbit hole, definitely check out the latest video from @Kylegotcamera. He did a phenomenal review!

    100% for Withings for having a suite of products... for additional functionality ... if you're single or your partner is waking up at the same time as you I recommend tying it to smart lights to turn "daylight" on in your room for when you want to wake up so that you can wake up more gradually. Another great competitive review Katie!

    The premise that the Oura should be your “gold standard” baseline is flawed. The Oura has been shown to be moderately inaccurate compared with recent EEG sleep study research. Sadly, that makes this review video of limited usefulness. Great channel, great energy. But flawed analysis.

    As the occupant on the other side of the bed... I can't imagine that I did not impact the results of withings! I know I change positions a lot at night, so if your partner is a restless sleeper or someone who gets up often then this is probably not the right device for you.

    Hi, Thanks for the review and I like how you compared the charts. Withings Mat actually does track your heart rate. Also, it does detect breathing disturbances, and its clinically tested. As far as I remember apple watch is also clinically test, but I am not sure about the Oura ring.

    I have been waiting for your Withings Sleep Mat review. I use both the Oura ring and Withings Mat. I will probably never own an Apple phone so the watch is out of the question. I have a Garmin watch that could track sleep but I can't get used to wearing it at night. I have experienced the same hiccups with both Withings and Oura ring. Last night Withings had me waking last night at 4:00 but missed me getting back in bed. So I missed 3 hours of sleep data. Oura missed a nap I took the other day. I find both devices to mirror each other pretty well. But I am glad to have a backup. From what I have read the accuracy of these types of trackers is pretty low, to begin with. I do find the Oura uncomfortable to wear during the day so I end up taking it off the morning to workout and putting it back on before I go to bed. My favorite thing about the Oura is the readiness score which seems to be pretty right on most days.
    My main gripe with all of the trackers at the moment is that I can't get them all to communicate so I have to parse info from everywhere to see all of my data in one place. All my fitness data is on Garmin. Some of my sleep is on Oura. Withings has sleep and also weight because I have the scale (love the scale). MyFitnessPal has all of my nutritional info and exercise since it links to Garmin. Google Fit gets sleep info from Oura and weight from MyFitnessPal. I am hoping someday there is one ring to rule them all or some kind of open sourcing of all the different trackers so I can have my exercise metrics, macronutrients, weight, and sleep analysis in one place so I can get an overall view of my data.
    Another great video. Thanks for the links in the description. They really help.

      Hi Blair!! Thank you so much for sharing your experience with Withings and Oura. I 100% agree -- my fiance and I are actually working on creating a digital dashboard that would help aggregate all of our miscellaneous health data into one concrete place. If we end up making something that works across multiple platforms, I will be sure to share it with you! I tried using google sheets to track all of my stats for a while, but it honestly became so much work to input manually every day. Have you heard about the new Withings smartscan watch? Looks super cool!

      @@katie_moore I saw the watch in a CES recap. It didn't pique my interest because I already have a Garmin Fenix that does 90% of the things the watch does in a form factor and ecosystem I am used to. I am not to impressed with my HR readings I get outside the chest strap I use for running. I would love one dashboard. I am hoping someone comes to their senses and organizes all the info on one open source program that lets us collect out information. Right now everyone is building their walled gardens trying to get us to go all in on their solutions. I would love a dashboard and was looking at learning HTML and Python to scrape all the info and collect to one spot. Seems like a lot a work. I am going to search through Reddit and see if there is a better way.

    Cool Review! I ordered the Withings last night and agree sleep is very important part that many people don't take seriously. I will be comparing my heart rate of the Withings to my watch tonight. I have the Withings scale as well and I'm thinking about getting the BP meter too. However, I'm not sure if the scales metrics are that accurate, other than weight. So, why build an ecosystem on questionable tech. Even still I'll give the Mat a chance. Question. What are your thoughts on the fitbit trackers. I heard they did very well and in some cases are the new benchmark. They're a little more useful than the Oura Ring, I believe just as accurate and more affordable.

    Just wanted to add my thanks for this video, but maybe you could do an updated test on the latest versions (esp as sleep tracking has become a bigger thing in the last 2 years), maybe include Fitbit rather than Apple as it works for both camps and has a reputation for accuracy - maybe when Google release the Pixel watch using Fitbit algorythms?

    Was wondering why you didn't mention the sleep apnea tracking of the Withings. But then realised you're in the US, and it's only Europe that has the next version, the "Withings Sleep Analyzer". First night, as suspected, "severe sleep apnea" recorded. Trip to doc planned.
    It's a game changer.

    • @katie_moore
      @katie_moore  4 года назад +1

      ahh yes! i didn't have access to that feature in the US...but interestingly enough, I just did a review on the Garmin VivoSmart 4 that measures pulse ox and can help with early detection of sleep apnea! thanks for watching and leaving feedback :)

    • @BelfastBiker
      @BelfastBiker 4 года назад

      @@katie_moore I have the vivosmart 4 also, and it's inaccurate for SpO2, as many have suggested. It reports 88 to 93% pulseox, never higher. I bought a fingertip pulse oximeter to check, and that gives me a more expected 98% sitting down. I ended up buying the O2Ring for *overnight* checking of PulseOx, and sure enough, along with heart increases a few seconds before, I get many periodic drops on SpO2. Ditching the vivo. I'm waiting on the Withings Scanwatch for overnight SpO2 that can link into my health apps ( it also has the AFib and ECG features of the Apple Watch), to see how that goes.
