Bruh You have to watch cover of Cancer now and it will blow your mind Also what Tyler is rapping about is a reference to Jumsut video (about a horse) And to Heathens video (start a concert a complete diversion, start a mob a you can be quite certain Will win but not everyone will get out)
The reversed voice at the beginning says ""We are banditos, We will leave DEMA at true East. We renounce Vialism." (Vialism is connect to the glowing things the bishops were surrounding. it's basically what they worship.) (Also the flowers in his drawer show how many times he tried to escape.) (and the vulture has a name, it's Clifford.)
GRocket1020 the glowing that you speaking of is a neon gravestone lol. While we don’t truly know what Vialism is know aspects of its beliefs Ie celebrating death, and worshiping false light.
The 8 means God. 8 historically means God. The bishops create man made light and worship it like it's God. This could be a metaphor for the idolization if money , fame, or other man made desires. Idolizing these things leads people to depression. The bishops use natural light from God which represents hope.
"Enforce a sponsor" Suicide Squad with the Heathens music video "Start a concert, complete diversion" That's exactly what he did in the Heathens music video "We'll win but not everyone will get out" All the prisoners escaped in the end except Tyler. I'm pretty sure the events in heathens is supposed to explain what happened in DEMA they created a diversion and all the Banditos were able to escape except Tyler and in this music video they were coming back for him. He also comments in the rap about how because of the Suicide Squad sponsor they were able to rent a race horse for the Jumpsuit music video.
Even at their concerts they have things for you to dissect. When NATN came out, no one understood what those rectangular light bulbs the bishops were making were. Then the album came out Oct 5 2018 and we all heard Neon Gravestones....but the connection was made, for me at least, at the concert I went to in Cleveland on Oct 23 and in which he sang Neon Gravestones....in the imagery on the projectors behind him...those rectangular lamp thingys kept showing up...and then I finally knew that the Bishops were making the neon gravestones in NATN. I love that I have that recorded as well.
Vultures is basically just us in society. He is a vulture. “This culture is a poacher of over exposure not today. Don’t feed me to the vultures I am a vulture who feeds off pain.”
Little important tidbits: 1. Video shot in Ukraine, I think. Also, the first shot before seeing Dema makes you realize that mv for Jumpsuit took place very close. It's like we're just leaving the stream of water where Tyler fell at the end of Jumpsuit. He never escaped far. 2. He packs things from former eras into his backpack (sunglasses from mv for Ride, red beanie from Blurryface era etc). It's like he's been holding on to the past. 3. The light in his room is the same as in the "church" where the bishops are. It's a cold, man-made light, far from alive and real, so to speak. But the bishops have taught them to worship it, just as we these days worship cell phones, tablets, social media etc. 4. Statue behind the bishops is holding something in its hands, looking up at it. Think about how a crowd looks like while taking pictures of someone on stage with their cell phones. I would say in Dema, we're stuck with worshipping technology, or as he says in Leave The City "it's a heatless fire". 5. Symbol the bishops worships at the church is the tøp logo upside down. 6. Vultures are us, or, modern day of overexposure and love of it. 7. Josh and the rest are the Banditos, bringing a REAL fire into Dema, something true. 8. Tyler first seems trapped when surrounded by Banditos. Symbolizes how we sometimes WANT to stay in our misery. First thought is for him to escape, even if Banditos are good for him. Then Josh reminds him of family by doing the handshake. They give him yellow to be able to smuggle him out.
the kimono is on the bed too, and something I can't quite make out but could easily be a car radio. Also, the clock on the desk where he puts the flowers is set to 6 :18. Josh's birthday is June 18th
A flower for each time he has "died" due to his fears, anxiety, etc. Nice touch. Also, we are not shown what he is putting inside the bag besides a pair of glasses - boy is about to look at the sun. The actual sun, not the neon lamps, aka artificial light. The one your dark thoughts are persuading you to worship, like having depression and finding the cure on playing on your PC for 15 hours a day to escape your reality instead of actually looking at the problem. Speaking of neon lamps, remember "Neon Gravestones"? I swear I just love dissecting their work, I'm genuinely intrigued.
@@mousta2612 he doesn't put them in the bag that we see, but the kimono is also on the bed. And I can't get a clear enough screenshot, but something that could definitely be a car radio.
the shot with josh on the drums where camera goes from upside down has a meaning! if you look at the thing that the bishops worship it's /-| which symbolizes vialism, neon light is not a natural light, it doesn't heat. and the camera goes from /-| to |-/ on the drum to show that the banditos' philosophy is opposite to the bishops'. the banditos are also surrounded by actual fire
Going to a concert in the trench era was so cool. The skeleton clique was like a yellow army ready for battle. Seeing everyone where yellow made it so much more hype.
There’s been theories about Tyler and Clancy being the same person but they can’t be since in one of Clancy’s letters, he describes the scene that we see in the jumpsuit mv where Tyler gets taken away by his bishop almost unwillingly
Victor R they’re not the same person. It’s been confirmed they’re not in the Clancy letters itself. And in several interviews. 😂 the fact this still is being brought up as a possibility is ridiculous at this point.
"Force a sponsor" refers to Suicide Squad "Start a mob", "A Complete diversion" refers to Heathens. and "We'll win but not everyone will get out" refers to the ending of the song "Heathens" where you can see tyler in the middle of the room while getting sorrounded by armed soldiers and Somwhere in the Music Video of heathens you can see Tyler putting on a suit clad in Gold and Yellow, along with Josh with his drums glowing a neon yellow light while they are getting sorrounded by a Mob of people
I love how in all your reactions you pay attention to every aspect of the song, not just the music or the lyrics, but also the details in the video, the shots, the editing, the production, even the location. That's how I listen to music as well and it's kinda frustrating when other reactors only comment on the tune or the lyrics. But you really get into it, that's why I'm always looking forward to your videos (specially the twenty one pilots one haha). You're dope ✌🏻
As I see it there is the neon against the fire. Fire is "alive", vibrant, energetic. It represents creativity, music and good thaughts. That's what destroyed the car driven by Blurryface in Heavydirtysoul, that's why also Josh's drums were in flames and what the Banditos carry always with them. It is one of the symbols of hope. While the neon is what the Bishops want you to worship, isn't true happiness, is what they wanna make you think. Neon is also talked about in the songs "Neon Gravestones" and "Bandito". Little fun fact: the handshake was just in the "Stressed Out" music video, plus the things that he put in his bag before leaving his cell were items used in old videos, like the glasses from "Ride" and the red hat from "Stressed Out", so all this things, like also the car, confirm that everything is happening in the same universe.
wish you could’ve gone to one of their shows this tour they’re so cool we all dress up as banditos!!! it starts with jumpsuit and josh comes out with a torch like in the mv there’s also kind of a story within their live show which I’m still trying to figure out haha love your reactions!!!
Love your reactions! I think everyone answered most of the questions. The Neon Gravestones they were forging was a fun one to realize after Trench was released. Josh and the other Banditos were the ones on the Cliff in the Jumpsuit video. Josh was the lone one standing there at the end looking down at him as he fails to get away and is taken back. Another song he references the vultures in is Pet Cheetah about them being perched on his roof. This was while he had writers block trying to finish the song and album. So I think they represent the music industry/label pushing him to either create more or finish or maybe conform.. especially if you also listen to the vulture lyrics in Levitate.
Seeing them in concert after this album came out was so emotional and beautiful!! Literally figuring everything out as it was coming out was such a rush of excitement and was so fuckin hard. Deciphering everything and finding new websites, following the people who wrote about dema and the bishops and Clancy. It was all so strategically placed for us and it unfolded wonderfully. Seeing them preform in front of thousands of people as your in the crowd was so weird because, as you said it, having such a drawn out fictional world play out through different albums and having it hit the charts worldwide was so crazy. THEY DID THAT. Thank you for appreciating everything they do and talking about it. A lot of the new fans never really got it and now you’re making videos explaining it all, giving sources, talking about your reactions and interpretations means so much to me and the hardcore fans of twenty one pilots. GO OFFFFF
@7:25, Orson Welles was the guy that directed and acted in Citizen Kane. Considered one of the best directors of all-time (if not the greatest). I get his name mixed up with George Orwell also
Coheed and Cambria, if nobody else has mentioned and you can stomach the sound, has a really well established storyline and had moderate success. Amory Wars is threaded throughout their music and is a full series of graphic novels
I say this with all my heart. You are my favorite music commentary channel. You truly take time to understand each and every single lyric and you going to the dema website is not easy. I was a fan during and it was hard af to keep up. Keep up the good work my dude
i think my parents are gonna start thinking about disowning me for screaming so much when i get notified for your reaction vids ALSO another band i really like that has a SICK fictional universe is My Chemical Romance’s Danger Days album. It’s similar to the concept of Dema with the band members escaping from an evil government that wants to control all emotion via injections of drugs. It’s super interesting. Try watching the Na Na Na music video!
An yee Good point! The Black Parade has an *amazing* storyline. I just suggested Danger Days instead because it’s got a whole comic series based off of it, so I thought that was a bit cooler!
The Black Parade is definitely what TØP reminds me of. Especially with the storytelling within and outside the album. They had a website too, I believe.
EXACTLY the MCR album I was thinking of. DD has got such an amazing backstory and setting and characters. Black Parade has some good story, but it loses cohesion towards the end of the album. DD stick with it all the way to the end. Okay, maybe not with Vampire Money, but it's a dig at Twilight. You have to respect that.
one of the symbols associated with Trench is a "trench medallion" which is a map of Trench (the area around Dema where Jumpsuit and Levitate are set). It looks remarkably similar to a brain map. In which case the Banditos are camped in the left side (the creative side) and Dema is at the back which will only stop working when you die, which relates to the line in Leave The City "In time I will leave the city, for now I will stay alive"
When you mentioned how cool it would have been to be a die-hard fan and seeing them for the first time in their jumpsuits in concert, Im just here to confirm, it truly was. But, what hit even harder than that was seeing all the fans following the exact same theme (myself included). All of the restaurants surrounding the venue were playing twenty one pilots music, every person was in a trench outfit. It was almost that vibe you get when you go to disney and everything is the same theme. It was like that, but for Trench. I have never felt more included and home in my life. It was very surreal, and I cant WAIT until you get to see them live. A few little things from the video you may not have noticed: -In the beginning when he's packing his bag, you can see him packing things from the last era, like the beanie hat, and the white glasses. This is a nod to the place he has come from, and the battle he will overcome on the way out. -At the end they are saying "We are banditos" backwards, but there has been speculation that played normal it says something sounding like: "So keep ned bayou" And Ned's Bayou was a pop-up shop they opened after Trench was released. You know Ned, from Chlorine. -In the little rap breakdown after the handshake and reverse jacket shot, he says "start a concert, a complete diversion." The first first concert they announced, before the whole tour was officially announced, was a small show in London, aptly named "A Complete Diversion." There are so many easter eggs, some still undiscovered, and you hit the nail on the head when you said no other band goes this deep into this type of symbolism. It's truly incredible to be a part of. i'm so glad you're getting to be involved, and we're getting to watch. (Thats not creepy, I swear!) lol Thank you for everything that you do!
at my concert i was fully decked out in camo and yellow tape we would see other people walking to the arena in green jackets and yellow bandanas it was incredible
In the last verse he sayis "so keep Ned by you" Ned is the little cute guy fron Chlorine who represents creativity . Tyler basically says to keep being creative, because art can help you move on your negative thoughts whether . For him it's music so he keep tellibg himself to be creative to not let the negative thoughts get him
An yee from what I understand, Tyler is saying “we are banditos” in reverse, and it wasn’t necessarily meant to say “so keep Ned by you” at first. I remember hearing him say the reversal line at a show during the first leg and it didn’t sound like “so keep Ned by you” but I think it’s something that developed overtime, or something that we realized overtime at least. I’m sure Tyler has those plans in his head all along, but it’s interesting to see how our understanding of that line changed overtime.
You talked about east being up and the only way to escape which is like what Tyler says in morph. "Above is blind belief and under is sword to sleeve and around is scientific miracle. Let's pick above and see. For if and when we go above the question still remains, are we still in love and is it possible we feel the same. And that's when going under starts to take my wonder..." When he says that last line, it's him considering to go under which is sword to sleeve, or in other words, the chances are that he couldn't escape and he'd end up back in Dema. Tyler and some of their crew wrote a whole "Trench Bible", a collection of stories about the trench universe that I really want to read. The music video director, Andrew Donoho, for this trilogy and HDS and heathens read stories from it for inspiration for the videos. I love how in depth the concept is, but it's still able to be interpreted individually
Okay, so i saw them in concert, and one of the first beginning songs, was the start of the series and he started off standing on a car that on fire.... jumpsuit, they proceeded to do it in order.... i recommend house of gold, the judge, from vessel and blurryface albums. 👍
I love the visuals of escaping dema and the banditos fighting, the Bishops formation. It's so powerful! The bit that always gets me is the kids... Trapped in dema but finding a jacket. So much nuance.
All this story Tyler made is my comfort zone.... every single day i turn to them and it’s saving me... feeling lots of love from the Clique. It’s been some dark place before TØP.... means lot to me you reacting to this and understanding people battling with life... thanks!👏👏👍👍
Always a great reaction..I remember your first T.O.P. reaction video and I ve enjoyed watching you journey and how you re a big fan of probably one of the greatest bands ever...to me they re #1 all time...cant wait til tomorrow levitate..
Orson Welles was an incredibly influential actor/director/producer who's first film Citizen Kane was groundbreaking in cinematography and is considered a masterpiece of film. He was also the voice actor for the Radio production of War of the Worlds, which many people thought was actual news of an alien invasion, and a couple of people apparently committed suicide over it! Tyler's iconic awkwardness and emotional vulnerability is part of his enigmatic charisma and brilliance, which immediately hooked my attention in the Heathens video when it came out. I saw T.O.P. in concert last year, and it was one of the best times I ever had. And this beyatch be OLD. As for companies being willing to take the risk of artists creating their own storylines and universes, take a boo at South Korea. BTS has had a storyline running through many of their videos for 7 years, the Bangtan Universe, masterminded by the 7 boys and their CEO of Big Hit Entertainment. They have corresponding notes in their physical albums, hints in videos shown during their concerts, short films, a web comic, and more. The ARMY fans dug into the mystery of it all, creating massive dialogue and expansive theory videos. The usual official music video to start with is "I Need U" 19+, which has all the controversial adult content. Taking this creative risk from the start eventually turned Big Hit from a small bankrupt company to the biggest music company in that country, and the first Korean band to gain worldwide recognition and international awards. Another Huge S. Korean group, EXO, was founded with a story line where the members originated on another planet, fighting a dark force that includes their evil doppelgangers. Muchas eye candy special effects, but I still have yet to delve into THAT epic narrative ;)
don't know if someone told you, but tyler wrote a 60 pages book about dema and the whole storyline, if i'm not mistaken. it's kinda like his secret, but i find it interesting cause it shows that he may be creating this whole universe for a long time. also, you can notice that they're running away in the "lower tunnels", which reminds me of the lyrics of bandito: "i could take the high road, but i know that im going low"
just a fun fact. "Start a concert, a complete diversion" in the rap bridge. In the MV they are literally starting a concert to make a diversion, so that tyler can escape once again.
that’s what i like about tyler’s writing. in many interviews he says that his songs are written so that you can make your own interpretation. “a kitchen sink to you is not a kitchen sink to me”
No one know who Clancy is... I always thought it was Tyler but there’s a journal entry on the demaorg website that describes the Jumpsuit video from someone/Clancy up in a cave off to the side. But yeah, we have no idea who Clancy is and Tyler refuses to talk about him
Because who Clancy is... isn’t really important. The important thing is Clancy purpose. Clancy was used as a device to give the clique the lore before the album. Which Tyler confirms in the first rock sound interview.
Thanks for making the playlists man, haven't really followed TØP vid for vid, but I really want to! Gonna go through that playlist soon from the beginning (Also...think Lupe deserves a playlist since it was a passion project of yours)
Yup, the guys in yellow (who´s lider is actually Josh) are the Banditos, the ones that where in the mountain on the "Jumpsuit" mv. They are a representation of the Skeleton Clique (twenty one pilots fanbase).
The coolest thing I think about going to their shows live during the trench era isn’t just seeing the boys dress in their Bandito clothes and bring the story to life, but also seeing the fans dress as banditos and being part of the story ourselves. Nearly every single person who goes to their shows wears some form of green and yellow duct tape. It’s amazing because Tyler wrote these songs with the idea that we would represent the banditos in real life, rebelling against our own real life dema. When we all go to a show the entire concert is a rebellion and a celebration. It’s awesome.
In this song, Tyler talks about Dema, a clear reference to mental illness, and about how it shouldn't control people, and later mentions that people should save their razor blades for later. This, at first, is a reference to 1984, in which there is a shortage of razor blades and the main character, Winston, keeps his for later. But it's also a clear reference to suicide, as that is the reason there's a razor blade shortage in the first place. What Tyler is saying, essentially, is to not lose to mental illness, same as the message behind Neon Gravestones. And then later, he mentions making his money off of razor blade stores, basically saying that he's a reason for the mental illnesses people have. Nico and the Niners are a clear reference to the album cover for Blurryface, even in the music video, the shape of the towers look like the nine circles on that album cover. So essentially, Tyler is running away from the fire that Blurryface caused by trying to tell his audience that they misinterpreted the message he was trying to convey. ive noticed that heathens and nico n the niners have almost the same story line... In heathens tyler and josh r in prison but josh is kinda “free” and he is playing the drums sooo Ty goes up to him (on the stage) and takes off his orange jumpsuits and underneath that he is wearing a YELLOW suit while he is playing on the stage with josh... josh and tyler then help the inmates escape from prison (maybe their own minds) but at the end tyler is the only one who couldn’t escape and he is sitting on the ground with everyone (the police) is pointing guns at him in nico n the niners he says: “start a mob and you can be quite certain we’ll win but not everyone will get out” also at the end where everyone is pointing guns at him his orange prison jumpsuit thingy goes from YELLOW to orange since josh and everyone have left and he was alone again... now in trench josh n the banditos r trying once again to help him get out of dema also one more information “dema” r the towers in the zoroastrian culture also known as the towers of silence the Zoroastrians put their dead bodies in those towers and leave them there till the vultures eat their flesh out in levitate ty is saying “Don't feed me to the vultures I am a vulture who feeds on pain”
Sou Psicóloga e estas canções me intrigaram! Tyler Joseph é genial e encontrou na música uma forma de libertação! A pergunta é: ele quer se livrar do quê?
1) I love your dog and your cat !! 2) I love TOP, I don't have many close people who like them, so I feel really happy when I see your videos and find that someone enjoys and appreciates the art, the quality, the deep message of TOP. I know there is a huge fandom out there but I have no contact so far... anyway, I really enjoy your point of view, your interpretation ( most of the time I think the same!) They are really talented, they are an inspiration in many, many ways!! Hugs and love!!!! Jiji from Buenos Aires!!!
The glass the bishops are working on and eventually set up is neon. In the song "Bandito", he says "In City, I feel my spirit is contained. Like neon inside the glass, they form my brain. But I recently discovered it's a heatless fire, like nicknames they give themselves to uninspire." The bishops control the thoughts of those stuck in DEMA, while simultaneously suppressing their creativity. That control is worshiped, via the neon glass structures you see both in the sanctuary with the bishops and in the room Tyler lives in. Seriously, so good.
I have so many things to say about this video and about TheThirdErnest. The way he listens to the song, everything being said, being done. You can deduce from this that he is such an attentive person. I'm not talking about the fact that he knows about dema and Nico. I'm talking about how he tries to absorb everything that the artists wants to give to you. And he succeeds every time
I went to see them at San Antonio last year in June and it was my very first concert and it was the best experience of my life. It was life changing. It was such a wake up call. Like I felt there’s a reason to be here yk? Like yes. This is why I want to keep being here. Because of them. I would see the same song live 20 times in a week if I had the chance
Title: We finally see inside Dema Me: I'm living there 😢 Also there's a theory that Tyler is Keons, one of the bishops that Clancy described, and that's why Nico is trying to get Tyler back and not josh and the Banditos. In levitate he says "Now here come the eight, wait." EIGHT not nine like because Tyler was one of the nine. And the vultures name is Clifford and most NF fans are also TØP fans (Nate even references tøp in know). And although it is a concept album that you have to dig to understand all the metaphors, each song can stand as a single individually even though people might not really understand
it has also been theorized that dema has a strict silence code so when they start playing, the ripples in the bowl appear and the ppl in the chapel take notice along with the bishops. the bishops don’t want ppl realizing that music helps and can be used as an escape (they wanna make you forget).
Location : old university campus in my hometown Kiev (Ukraine). Maybe lost it , but yellow flower in the beginning, from the end of jumpsuit, also you can see that it's bunch of flowers, so this is also looped like in Heavydirtysoul. "We win but not everyone will get out" - you can see what that means after "Heathens" music video that also goes as part of the story.
Nothing gives me life more than seeing you react to Twenty One Pilots. If you end up reacting to more of their stuff in the future, check out some of their songs from the album Regional At Best- it’s a bit harder to find but completely worth the effort, I promise. If you do, id recommend: Glowing eyes Kitchen sink Forest Guns for hands
Super excited for levitate! Whenever I hear these songs now I get chills because of the music videos. They make great songs even better somehow with the visuals
I think the neon tube being made by the bishops is a neon gravestone (also a song from Trench); representing cold and unnatural. And...Notice the banditos have torches; warmth and natural. I also had serious 1984 vibes from the lyrics in this song. Especially the double speak: higher when lower and lighter when heavy.
I’m just watching this and i literally paused the video to say HOLY SH*T you did the research and went to DMA./org and everything! I am super impressed! Also, welcome to the clique, my dude. Lol
Oh ya! There is a Behind the scenes to these videos. Definitely a must watch. Very funny cuz they are both wicked dorks. But really interesting info about the locations they shot at and ... Will Smith and other silly stuff 😉.
The part where he says well force a sponsor and start a concert a complete diversion start a mob we’ll be quiet certain we’ll win but not everyone will get out. Is describing the heathens music video.
I reaaally love when you react to something from top, you always say good interpretations of the songs and videos. Twenty one pilots is the best band and everyone’s agree with that Cannot wait for “Levitate” 😌😌
The heathens mv takes place in a prison in dema and in this mv he has as many flowers in his drawer as the times he has tried to escape. The jumpsuit mv is one of the times he tried to escape but he failed thats why he holds a flower in the end
Orson Welles was famous for the War of the Worlds radio dramas back in the 30’s I believe. He created a mass panic because people didn’t know that it was a radio drama, and thought it was an actual news broadcast.
Btw, all the demon deep like voices is the voice of Blurryface, (Nico) who is the antagonist of the story. He represents Tyler’s fears and insecurities
We have happily went from a ukulele screamo rap clique/frens to alternate universe banditos... glad to have you aboard Ernest, you have come a long way 😊
The reversed part at the beginning is actually Josh speaking with his voice obviously lowered. As @GRocket1020 said, the part says "We are banditos, We will leave Dema at true East. We renounce vialism." The vialism is like bottling up everything so I think they are specifically referring to dark thoughts and anxiety here. This also relates to the glowing tubes all around the bishops. Neon Gravestones anyone? All throughout the song there are reversed parts that are Tyler speaking and saying stuff about fire basically. If you want to know more about that I would suggest hopping on Reddit.
It is one thing I love so much about this album. The band is very special to so many people and when twenty one pilots got so much attention because of the Blurryface album a lot of fans couldn't stand hearing the songs that mean so much to them being constantly played on the radio. Millions of people heard the music without really listening and it somehow made it feel less special. This album feels a little bit like a gift. Eventhough the songs might be played on the radio, no one will figure out what Tyler is saying unless they are a fan. It's like a secret between the band and us.
Dunno if you ever heard of that but they did like a race with multiple quizzes and hints on their shop and a special website before the first releases of Trench (jumpsuit and nico). There are many themes of Trench that were introduced and explained in this phase. You can find the whole storyline of events in the tøp subreddit (should be named dema mega thread or something). Love that you try to understand and interpret it in the videos but there are just too much details in this world to understand so I just thought you might like to read into that and understand even more. Keep up the good work 😊
I just realized after YEARS that he puts the yellow flower in the trunk and there's also more flowers, like this already happened several times to him and he always takes the flower after the confrontation but he doesn't give up
I think it's a cool detail that in this video the bishops are showing some sort of ritual and some kinda fire that doesn't really shine as much as the torchs do. I think that represents how evertything in Dema is twisted and unreal, just like Tyler says in Bandito: "In City, I feel my spirit is contained Like neon inside the glass, they form my brain But I recently discovered it's a heatless fire Like nicknames they give themselves to un inspire".
about the handshake scene: Tyler was trying to escape again (each flower is an attempt) from Dema, and at the same time the Banditos were trying to get into Dema and bring Tyler out of it with them, but "They want to make you forget": when tyler sees the banditos he's scared and he doesnt recognise them, not till him and josh did their handshake at least, which in my way its just a symbol of their friendship, a way to recognise each other(?????? idk how to properly explain that in english but you know, its like an iconic thing of them)
This is my third comment. I could talk about this album for hours lol but most NF fans are also tøp fans. Nate likes their music and even references tøp in a song, know. I love both artists (but tøp is my favourite band ever) and they both have different styles. Nate makes real music. He uses examples of things that happened in his life like conversations and interviews. He "makes you feel like you're in it" and pin points a feeling and describes that and makes you understand. It's very straightforward and throws you in it. It hits hard. Tøp on the other hand is more available to interpretation. Tyler doesn't like to specify certain things such as what the logo means, what a kitchen sink is to him (from the song kitchen sink), where you are trying to get from trench, etc. With their music, you're able to perceive it in a way that relates and helps you. My meanings of their songs even change sometimes. When I'm struggling with something, a tøp song or lyric always comes to mind and I realise what it means to me. Even if it's not what Tyler originally intended the lyric to mean, he leaves it open so you can create your own meaning for it. That's one of things I love about their music. I feel like they have a song for everything I struggle with
Now that you know so much about their story building you have to go back and watch the Heathens music video. They foreshadowed all of this years before we even knew to look
Seeing them in concert was amazing. It started with Jumpsuit and Tyler came out of the bottom of the stage standing on top of a car on fire. He actually accidentally stepped on the wrong bit and melted a bit of one of his boots
This might be my favourite video from them. There is so much to unpack. The vultures are a running theme throughout the album, they become more significant in Levitate. Clancy is separate from Tyler, Clancy was present in the Jumpsuit music video hiding in a cave watching it take place.
It’s amazing going to concerts and seeing everyone dressed up in camo with yellow tape on our shoulders and legs. It’s a great experience. Also Levitate was my least favorite song but later grew on me
YOOO I need to get off modern warfare because I didn’t even think of vulture. All I saw was scavenger 😂😂😂
Happens. No shame on being a man of culture Sir 😂😂😂
Love your reactions man, always on point! #21pilotsforlife!!!
Bruh
You have to watch cover of Cancer now and it will blow your mind
Also what Tyler is rapping about is a reference to Jumsut video (about a horse)
And to Heathens video (start a concert a complete diversion, start a mob a you can be quite certain
Will win but not everyone will get out)
Sure someone said it but the reversed speaking at the beginning says “we are banditos, we will leave dema and head true east, we denounce vialism”
@@oscarramirez7188 what.... Real Fans never say 21
The reversed voice at the beginning says ""We are banditos, We will leave DEMA at true East. We renounce Vialism."
(Vialism is connect to the glowing things the bishops were surrounding. it's basically what they worship.)
(Also the flowers in his drawer show how many times he tried to escape.)
(and the vulture has a name, it's Clifford.)
GRocket1020 the glowing that you speaking of is a neon gravestone lol. While we don’t truly know what Vialism is know aspects of its beliefs Ie celebrating death, and worshiping false light.
Travis Hunt yeah forgot that detail lol
When you said Clifford I instantly thought of Clifford Stumme
also to note clifford isn't the vulture's name within the lore... it's it's actual name IRL
The 8 means God. 8 historically means God. The bishops create man made light and worship it like it's God. This could be a metaphor for the idolization if money , fame, or other man made desires. Idolizing these things leads people to depression.
The bishops use natural light from God which represents hope.
What normal people see: A Vulture
What Ernest see: Scavenger Bird
A vulture is a scavenger bird
(4 years late ik😭)
"Enforce a sponsor" Suicide Squad with the Heathens music video
"Start a concert, complete diversion"
That's exactly what he did in the Heathens music video
"We'll win but not everyone will get out"
All the prisoners escaped in the end except Tyler.
He also did a Complete Diversion concert in Brixton, UK
Even at their concerts they have things for you to dissect. When NATN came out, no one understood what those rectangular light bulbs the bishops were making were. Then the album came out Oct 5 2018 and we all heard Neon Gravestones....but the connection was made, for me at least, at the concert I went to in Cleveland on Oct 23 and in which he sang Neon Gravestones....in the imagery on the projectors behind him...those rectangular lamp thingys kept showing up...and then I finally knew that the Bishops were making the neon gravestones in NATN. I love that I have that recorded as well.
Woahhhh I never knew that!! That's so cool!
I also think that if you turn the gravestone up side down you will see the TØP symbol /-| ----> |-/
Just need to change the perspective
@@camilagodoy2069 yep, I had heard about that as well.
Vultures is basically just us in society. He is a vulture. “This culture is a poacher of over exposure not today. Don’t feed me to the vultures I am a vulture who feeds off pain.”
Why the heck are u talking about Levitate dude
An yee he was asking what the vultures represent
Persians don't bury the dead, they leave the dead body on the tower (the tower of silence) and let the vultures feed on it....
Rishabh Tripathi ok? they all tie together.
Little important tidbits:
The upside down TOP logo is a neon gravestone
Thx for sharing this analysis!
Actually he put some things from old music videos: the red hat from Stressed Out and the glasses from Ride.
I like the neon interpretation a lot, the dark thoughts worship the “heatless fire”
To connect it to ride and heavydirtysoul I’d say it’s everytime he fell not died
@@mousta2612 he doesn't put them in the bag that we see, but the kimono is also on the bed. And I can't get a clear enough screenshot, but something that could definitely be a car radio.
@@katstorm13 wow, he actually "got back what I once bought back" hahaha
It really seems to me that packing his backpack he puts them in...
the shot with josh on the drums where camera goes from upside down has a meaning! if you look at the thing that the bishops worship it's /-| which symbolizes vialism, neon light is not a natural light, it doesn't heat. and the camera goes from /-| to |-/ on the drum to show that the banditos' philosophy is opposite to the bishops'. the banditos are also surrounded by actual fire
You will soon realize that NF's fans and Twenty One Pilots' fans are the same people
True😂❤️
For realll
uh.. no
It does be that way. Love their creativity so much.
It‘s cause both are real music
The lights are gravestones, just like the song neon gravestones
Wow that actually makes sense
I thought the lights were just part of vialism, their religion that’s talked about in neon gravestones, not that the lights themselves are gravestones
Which lights tho😅 you mean that weird electronic 8 ?
Going to a concert in the trench era was so cool. The skeleton clique was like a yellow army ready for battle. Seeing everyone where yellow made it so much more hype.
I remember taking a subway to the concert and seeing people putting yellow tape on each other lol
@@Travis_1997welp look how the tables turned😭
"Force a sponsor" refers to Suicide Squad
"Start a mob", "A Complete diversion" refers to Heathens.
and "We'll win but not everyone will get out" refers to the ending of the song "Heathens" where you can see tyler in the middle of the room while getting sorrounded by armed soldiers
and Somwhere in the Music Video of heathens you can see Tyler putting on a suit clad in Gold and Yellow, along with Josh with his drums glowing a neon yellow light while they are getting sorrounded by a Mob of people
The concerts last year, most of the audience was covered in yellow! It was fun!
The little smile which made it to your face when they did their signature handshake... Voila.. they got u fam... 😅😊
Can’t wait for you to finish the trilogy and see what you fully think of it! Always love seeing Twenty one pilot reactions from you
I love how in all your reactions you pay attention to every aspect of the song, not just the music or the lyrics, but also the details in the video, the shots, the editing, the production, even the location. That's how I listen to music as well and it's kinda frustrating when other reactors only comment on the tune or the lyrics. But you really get into it, that's why I'm always looking forward to your videos (specially the twenty one pilots one haha). You're dope ✌🏻
15:02 "We'll win but not everyone will get out is a callback to Heathens. At the end of the song every prisoners escaped but not him.
Heathens was also before we knew yellow was the new color. He wrote Heathens thinking it was gonna be rejected and put on this album. 🥰
Im a simple man, i see Ernest, i click
FACTS
clique*
This might be small but one thing that I love and really appreciate is how you replay the clip after you talk about it!
Is it normal that I get happy when your videos are longer than usual? Can't remember another youtuber that can achieve this
I say this with all my heart. You are my favorite music commentary channel. You truly take time to understand each and every single lyric and you going to the dema website is not easy. I was a fan during and it was hard af to keep up. Keep up the good work my dude
i think my parents are gonna start thinking about disowning me for screaming so much when i get notified for your reaction vids
ALSO another band i really like that has a SICK fictional universe is My Chemical Romance’s Danger Days album. It’s similar to the concept of Dema with the band members escaping from an evil government that wants to control all emotion via injections of drugs. It’s super interesting.
Try watching the Na Na Na music video!
No. Not danger days. I mean welcome to black parade has also amazing storyline and the albun is way better
@@Caeleinn Danger Days sounds really boring and generic, so not the best way to introduce someone.
one of the symbols associated with Trench is a "trench medallion" which is a map of Trench (the area around Dema where Jumpsuit and Levitate are set). It looks remarkably similar to a brain map. In which case the Banditos are camped in the left side (the creative side) and Dema is at the back which will only stop working when you die, which relates to the line in Leave The City "In time I will leave the city, for now I will stay alive"
I soo love that u actually took the time to really invest time to know the story. Loved reaction, looking forward to next one. Hugs.
Man, I'm so happy this channel is really getting attention. I think this is one of the best Music reaction channel on youtube. Hands down
When you mentioned how cool it would have been to be a die-hard fan and seeing them for the first time in their jumpsuits in concert, Im just here to confirm, it truly was.
A few little things from the video you may not have noticed:
-In the beginning when he's packing his bag, you can see him packing things from the last era, like the beanie hat, and the white glasses.
-In the little rap breakdown after the handshake and reverse jacket shot, he says "start a concert, a complete diversion." The first first concert they announced, before the whole tour was officially announced, was a small show in London, aptly named "A Complete Diversion."
There are so many easter eggs, some still undiscovered, and you hit the nail on the head when you said no other band goes this deep into this type of symbolism. It's truly incredible to be a part of. i'm so glad you're getting to be involved, and we're getting to watch. (Thats not creepy, I swear!) lol
Thank you for everything that you do!
at my concert i was fully decked out in camo and yellow tape
we would see other people walking to the arena in green jackets and yellow bandanas
it was incredible
In the last verse he sayis "so keep Ned by you" Ned is the little cute guy fron Chlorine who represents creativity . Tyler basically says to keep being creative, because art can help you move on your negative thoughts whether . For him it's music so he keep tellibg himself to be creative to not let the negative thoughts get him
Where does it say that?
Then they went on to the blurryface and vessel album i highlyyyyy recommend.
It’s been some dark place before TØP.... means lot to me you reacting to this and understanding people battling with life... thanks!👏👏👍👍
Awww, love your dog! Looking so concerned, pretty eyes!
Love your reactions to twenty one pilots!!
But yeah, we have no idea who Clancy is and Tyler refuses to talk about him
LoganTheNotSoHuman i think we will find out more in the next album
In heathens tyler and josh r in prison but josh is kinda “free” and he is playing the drums sooo Ty goes up to him (on the stage) and takes off his orange jumpsuits and underneath that he is wearing a YELLOW suit while he is playing on the stage with josh...
josh and tyler then help the inmates escape from prison (maybe their own minds) but at the end tyler is the only one who couldn’t escape and he is sitting on the ground with everyone (the police) is pointing guns at him
in nico n the niners he says:
“start a mob and you can be quite certain we’ll win but not everyone will get out”
also at the end where everyone is pointing guns at him his orange prison jumpsuit thingy goes from YELLOW to orange since josh and everyone have left and he was alone again...
now in trench josh n the banditos r trying once again to help him get out of dema
also one more information “dema” r the towers in the zoroastrian culture also known as the towers of silence
the Zoroastrians put their dead bodies in those towers and leave them there till the vultures eat their flesh out
in levitate ty is saying “Don't feed me to the vultures
I am a vulture who feeds on pain”
Thank you this explained so much to me 🙌🏻🌸
Sou Psicóloga e estas canções me intrigaram!
NF - Hate Myself 🔥
Title: We finally see inside Dema
Me: I'm living there 😢
Also there's a theory that Tyler is Keons, one of the bishops that Clancy described, and that's why Nico is trying to get Tyler back and not josh and the Banditos.
I love that you do all the research I’m too lazy to do 🤣. Great video, very informative.
bruh flexing on us with that art history and architecture knowledge 💪
it has also been theorized that dema has a strict silence code so when they start playing, the ripples in the bowl appear and the ppl in the chapel take notice along with the bishops. the bishops don’t want ppl realizing that music helps and can be used as an escape (they wanna make you forget).
That was 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 Ernest!!! Well done.
omg i love ur reactions sm!!
Also i love the tøp reactions. I have been listening to them for 8 years so i find your interpretation vert interesting
Nothing gives me life more than seeing you react to Twenty One Pilots. If you end up reacting to more of their stuff in the future, check out some of their songs from the album Regional At Best- it’s a bit harder to find but completely worth the effort, I promise. If you do, id recommend:
Glowing eyes
Kitchen sink
Forest
Guns for hands
The transition in the intro tho 🔥💪🏽
Lol
Fire reaction, I hope you ready for what comes next cause they are all good. And keep doin what you doin.
Is describing the heathens music video.
it’s nice to see someone reacting who knows the story and had actually done their research into the universe :)
I reaaally love when you react to something from top, you always say good interpretations of the songs and videos.
Twenty one pilots is the best band and everyone’s agree with that
Cannot wait for “Levitate” 😌😌
I’ve seen them live 5 times and camped out twice and the experience is better each time and it is insane!! It feels so unreal.
You went down the TOP rabbit hole 💯
Dunno if you ever heard of that but they did like a race with multiple quizzes and hints on their shop and a special website before the first releases of Trench (jumpsuit and nico). There are many themes of Trench that were introduced and explained in this phase. You can find the whole storyline of events in the tøp subreddit (should be named dema mega thread or something).
Love that you try to understand and interpret it in the videos but there are just too much details in this world to understand so I just thought you might like to read into that and understand even more.
Keep up the good work 😊
man, i can watch you all day reacting and talking about TOP!!
I just realized after YEARS that he puts the yellow flower in the trunk and there's also more flowers, like this already happened several times to him and he always takes the flower after the confrontation but he doesn't give up
I was patiently waiting! You’re making my night.
I think it's a cool detail that in this video the bishops are showing some sort of ritual and some kinda fire that doesn't really shine as much as the torchs do. I think that represents how evertything in Dema is twisted and unreal, just like Tyler says in Bandito:
"In City, I feel my spirit is contained
Like neon inside the glass, they form my brain
But I recently discovered it's a heatless fire
Like nicknames they give themselves to un inspire".
about the handshake scene:
Tyler was trying to escape again (each flower is an attempt) from Dema, and at the same time the Banditos were trying to get into Dema and bring Tyler out of it with them, but "They want to make you forget": when tyler sees the banditos he's scared and he doesnt recognise them, not till him and josh did their handshake at least, which in my way its just a symbol of their friendship, a way to recognise each other(?????? idk how to properly explain that in english but you know, its like an iconic thing of them)
I still get goosebumps when I listen to trench from their Bandito tour concert. Especially jumpsuit, levitate, NATN and pet cheetah
I feel like they have a song for everything I struggle with
Wasn't expecting this today! Awesome :)
Now that you know so much about their story building you have to go back and watch the Heathens music video. They foreshadowed all of this years before we even knew to look
Yes! Heathens will be next!
Dude this vid is awesome. You're awesome. Subbed.
Love your content
Seeing them in concert was amazing. It started with Jumpsuit and Tyler came out of the bottom of the stage standing on top of a car on fire. He actually accidentally stepped on the wrong bit and melted a bit of one of his boots
Very cool of you to put in the time to research this🙏
This might be my favourite video from them. There is so much to unpack. The vultures are a running theme throughout the album, they become more significant in Levitate. Clancy is separate from Tyler, Clancy was present in the Jumpsuit music video hiding in a cave watching it take place.
Fun fact, the last section of the song where Tyler raps refers back to the heathens music video.
It’s amazing going to concerts and seeing everyone dressed up in camo with yellow tape on our shoulders and legs. It’s a great experience. Also Levitate was my least favorite song but later grew on me
