Mega Manopoly seems really fun
This is not like Mario Party, no mini games. This is a copy of Itadaki Street, a series of property ownership board games made by Square Enix.
harlie jest which is based on Sugoroku, the jp counterpart to Monopoly basically 👌
@@Evilriku13 also known as Fortune Street/Boom Street in the west
It predates Mario Party, that means it's not a Mario Party style game... That means that Mario Party is a Rockboard style game!
There is a game just like that on the Wii featuring characters from the Mario and Dragon Quest series. It's called Fortune Street (Boom Street in PAL regions). The gameplay is almost the exact same. In Japan this is an entire series (Itadaki Street) going all the way back to the Famicom.
Yeah the game is/was a pretty long running series. In Japan it's known as itadaki street and has had games going from the famicom to the wii and ds along with spinoff games like rockboard and the command board mini game in kingdom hearts birth by sleep.
I Got That Game And I Don't Remember Anything About It
@@fish7306 it's more or less monopoly but with a lot more friendship ruining
Fortnite street
We played one game of Fortune Street on Wii on easy and it took FOREVER before the game was finished. And thats without going into Stocks and other options the standard mode has. My copy is just sitting on the shelf collecting dust since then.
Oh god, Shesez is now boundary breaking THROUGH THE RUclips.
HE'S TOO POWERFUL.
Buttsand that’s the voice I recognized, but couldn’t for the life of me remember who it was!! Thank you!
and comment sections!
Shesez I thought that was your voice. I recognize it anywhere
“Mega Man is not playable...”
And there’s Capcom’s first mistake in making a Mega Man party game. 😑
Yeah, that's like playing a Looney Tunes video game that has every single character playable except Bugs Bunny and/or Daffy Duck. ;P
That's like making a Sega mascot fighter for the Saturn without Sonic and NiGHTS or a crossover between Capcom, Nintendo, Bamco and Sega without Sonic, Mario, a digimon, a gundam (especially if said crossover is a "tactics" RPG), Pac-Man or Mega Man Classic.
This is just Mega Man's version of Fortune Street.
Or Mario's version of Rock Board, depending on how you look at it.
A modern update would be very interesting
Yeah but I prefer a clone of Mario Party than Monopoly. That way, we'd get Mega Man themed mini games.
this sounds like the game from kingdom heart bbs
@@housinengi9512 That's because Command Board is also a Monopoly clone.
Or an English translation rom patch. 👀
@@fixedfunshow Fortune Street is also a clone of Monopoly so my argument still stands. Both games are Monopoly clones, dude.
Wait.... "...to roll the dice with Roll." ...?
Rhyming is hard.
Huh. Dr. Cossack himself helped the translation? Neat. Here I thought he was a fictional character this whole time.
Wait, if it was released in Japan in 1993, then the most likely reason it was never translated is because Nintendo was focusing on software for the SNES and not the NES. Its the same reason why the first Earthbound (Mother 1) wasn't released despite being fully translated, censored, and completely ready for release.
Psst, Megaman is owned by Capcom, not Nintendo there. But could be the same reason.
@@callak_9974 Megaman is owned by Capcom?
Wow. I NEVER KNEW. I never noticed that the Capcom logo popped up in every game, and half of the X series was on the PLAYSTATION.
Or WHAT A BIG DEAL IT WAS for Mega Man to make it into Smash Bros!
Silly me!
@supergeo128ds Well, you posted that the reason why it was never translated was because Nintendo was focusing on software for the SNES and not the NES.
But because the rights for the game are owned by Capcom, what Nintendo is focusing on has no bearing on why it wasn't translated. So you should have checked your own post before the obvious sarcastic remark there.
@@callak_9974 MY apologies- that was kind of a sore spot for me. I was under the impression that Nintendo had more power on what games got published under their systems. (Remember their rigorous censorship guidelines?)
As long as the game company cleaned up religious things, scandalous images (nudity) and probably swearing, Nintendo was fine with it.
Oh, and that they didn't release more than 5 games a year on their platform under 1 name. Which is why a there were parent companies with several labels under their control. That was probably to lessen the odds of another video game crash as what happened with Atari when there was no control on the quality of the games released.
Another party game, another friendship destroyer.
Looks like it would be kinda fun though.
Dumbass its not mario party
Mega Man Battle Network used Zenny as currency too
This game should be in Nintendo Switch online or sold in the Nintendo Switch eshop
I would've _loved_ a Mega Man Party.
4:25 - Maybe it's just this fan-translation patch (I'm assuming it's fan-made), but it seems odd to me that Mega Man is named Rock Man here, but Proto Man isn't named Blues.
Bowled over by Sheezes then Nostalgia Nerd starts talking!
Title is misleading. This game is more like Monopoly or Itadaki Street / Fortune Street
"It's a board game" is sorta what the title alludes to.
@@Nate-ll4do Mario Party isn't just a board game though
got really surprise when shesez suddenly started talking... NOICE
Ok, I really enjoy reading the Spanish advertisement for the game that came out in the one Nintendo magazine saying "Can you imagine Mega Man asking Dr. Wily to pay rent for landing on one of his properties"? when Mega Man was never a playable character to begin with.
So, basically, I can imagine it man, but you can't even do it in game, man.
So Fortune Street then.
*Mega Man's Japanese Exclusive Itadaki Street Style Game.
I fixed the title for you.
It would make more since to say Fortune Street or Boom Street, which are the western names
@@scarffoxandfriends9401 Only two games came out in the west though and one didn't even feature licensed characters.
...Man, I suddenly miss Club Nintendo. The one Nintendo had that gave you cool stuff, not...My Nintendo.
2:04 Now I can't stop thinking of a MegaMan Battle Royale...
It's quite fun, Fortune Street really helped me play Rockboard. Wished it could've gotten an English release.
Glad to see more content, I honestly missed you guys for a bit!
Marge Simpson: Let’s just stick to regular Monopoly. The game is crazy enough as it is. How can an iron be a land owner?
I see DYKG is doing their part in the fight against tseries
Super interesting, love me some Mega-Man, good job guys!
Who need fortnite Battle Royale when you have this?!
Chronicle Zombie who needs Tetris 99 when you have this? FTFY.
Also worth pointing out is that there are two versions of the rom patch. One that uses the original Japanese names and terms and one that is completely English localized.
Do you intend to do an episode on _DreamMix TV World Fighters_ for Region Locked? I was so hoping that you would cover that game in honor of Simon Belmont being playable alongside Solid Snake (with Bomberman as an Assist Trophy) in _Super Smash Bros. Ultimate_.
Explaining the basics of monopoly for that sweet 10min length.
I remember that there’s art from this game in one of the mega man art books, but I couldn’t find anything about it. I’m glad that this video was made.
This is Megaman Boom Street. There was a Mario/Dragon Quest mashup of this on the Wii
Oh man, I actually saw someone play a copy of this that was pirated & fudged with yeeeeaaaars ago! Good find to talk about.
You can’t play as Megaman.
YOU CANT PLAY AS F***ING MEGA MAN
My theory of how Quick Man would have worked is that he would double the amount of spaces you could move. e.g. if you got a 4, you'll move 8 spaces
Please make a region locked episode of Playstation's Moon: remix rpg adventure. I think it needs some attention. It was one of the games that inspired Toby Fox for his game Undertale.
Hmmm, that sucks that we couldn't play as Mega Man...
I remember first learning about this game from the Mega Man Home Page way back in the day. Knowing Reggae's existence back then was neat little bit of Mega Man trivia.
Wow never knew this existed.. I'm sure Mario party took some inspiration from this! Awesome!
4:24 Didn’t know Quint was in this game! He’s the third bottom card! :D
Megaman and Board games like are an odd mix.
But surprisingly was before the king of board videogames Mario Party.
Great video!
In my humble opinion, this Mega Man game looks complicated as hell to me, but I'd be lying if I said I wouldn't play it. Great video.
This reminds me of Fortune Street.
Oh and Zenny? That's so Monster Hunter.
More like that's so Capcom.
I know zenny currency from Ragnarok online back in the day 🤔
Rockboard is my favorite Battle Royale game
Not releasing a Mega Man board game on the NES in 1993 seems perfectly reasonable to me, most had moved on to SNES at that point and would they go back for a monopoly-type game? I don't think so.
I would and maybe even still love the game. Looks fun.
man this actually looks like a really fleshed out and cool game.
Never heard of this game until I watched this
Itadaki Street has always had a difficult time getting localized. It's a real shame because I find it incredibly engaging as a board game.
Here early, is it gonna be RockBoard????
Yup
I’d love to see a Region Locked on Donkey Konga 3, if there’s enough to talk about!
Mega Master Party would be pretty cool.
Mega party?. Man party?. Mega man party?
7:08 funny how those waves looks very similar to the waves in the intro of Link's Awakening DX
i remember playing this with my brother on a poorly translated rom, it was so much fun
How could you make this game but not make Megaman playable.......
All the characters you mentioned are in Smash Bros. What a world we live in..
You really could have ended the video when Megaman/Rockman teleported away, after the credit sequence.
The rest of the video after that was just jargon.
If this game looks fun, try fortune street for the Wii, similar game play!
Im glad to hear this channel has chosen to side with the king in his war lol
Wow. I did not know anything about this before.
that’s paradise since the first time i saw you standing there
Finally....! A thousand likes from me. Also where do I buy the merch!?
Couldn't they have rereleased it with Japanese AND English options?
Good idea switching to the mmx music. Such a epic song
If you wanted NES style Mega Man music why not Mega Man 2 or 3?
Zenny would be know as the currency of the MM Legends
Zigimus Prime Actually it’s the currency in general in Rockman games including Legends, X in Commands Mission, and EXE for examples. So not just Legends has that as the currency name.
the fact that mega man isn't even playable makes me instantly not have interest in this game. you'd imagine Dr. Light being the dealer or something like that. Also, I'd rather it be mega man, roll, and the OG robot masters as playable characters
The battle royale comment is pretty funny considering the upcoming death battle between the mega men
not really into board games unless they are real but it is still cool to hear about it
SNK's The King of Fighters also had a Mario Party rip-off only in Japan exclusive for the Neo Geo Pocket Color. The name was King of Fighters: Battle de Paradise. Kinda weird, but it's more like a rip-off of Mario Party Advance on the GBA but with KOF characters rather than the Mario characters. :)
Reggae also appears in rockman e forte for wonder swan
A Mega Man Mario Party and Mega Man isn't playable? Seems logical.
Did you know? My avatar over there to the left is this game.
Oddly enough this reminds me that Konami's mascot Goemon also had board game based video game as well. Ganbare Goemon Mononoke Sugoroku. If I remembered correctly this based off of a traditional Japanese board game just with the bizarre twist and atmosphere of the Goemon series. He is the best platformer mascot around people come @ me! Goemon for SMASH ULTIMATE!
I love this game
This kinda seems like Mario Party before Mario Party was ever a thing.
So this is the original battle royal game?
If it predates Mario Party and doesn't really play anything like Mario Party, is it really a Mario Party style game? It's just a Mega Man board game, isn't it? It's much closer to a Mega Monopoly.
real talk when are we getting a port of sonic shuffle to modern console and PC?
The first half of this video is like being a kid and listening to the babysitter read the rulebook out loud.
I'll admit... I already knew about this game.
So this game was sogoruku or Itadaki Street (or since 2010(?) Fortune or Boom street outside of japan) or is it just a huge coincidence that those concepts & gameplay mechanics are THAT smiliar?
Would have bought a Rockman Board (or a new release/remaster for current consoles) tho!
Damn now I want to play this! Just for observation and research purposes and see how it is from Mario Party, the only Video Board Game I’ve played.
Sound good, but no Megaman playable, no plans to play...almost.
This seems just like fortune street. Like almost 100% the same.
Heyyy!!! This looks really cool! I definitely didn’t know this.
Zenny?
I keep hearing that term used for currency in Japanese video games (an example that comes to mind is Sengoku Basara). Where did it come from?
I wish this would've been localized
Ive actually played this before on a raspberry pie but the comments were really corrupted and didn't make sense
They need to make this a real board game
Keep up the good work. You’re an inspiration to my channel.
Ah so it is just basically Monopoly, so is not a Mario Party clone after all.
I’m still demanding a Fortune Street episode!
Why you use the KSS intro music in the intro of region-locked?
This legit sounds like Fortune Street.
So
Cqpcom's Fortune Street
