I took a few weeks off from posting videos because we were packing everything up in Utah to prepare for our cross country move to New England. I'm feeling so rested after a busy week of moving in and getting the fur babies used to their new home. To say I'm thriving and loving it here is an understatement. I'm so excited to explore more as the weather warms up :)
In this video I wanted to give a life update and answer some of your questions about why we chose to move to Rhode Island, why we went from 1 to 3 cats in the span of a few months and a health update. Oh Desi, this comment will probably get buried but I have chronic Lyme and mold illness and MTHFR too! I’ve been dealing with it for the past ten years. It’s so unbelievably difficult but I feel like those of us with chronic illness have a special peek into how special life is on the good days and how the little things mean so much and are what really brings joy in the hard times. From watching your channel for so long I know you’ve already known this but on this journey it brings you even deeper into that knowing. You aren’t alone. ❤

I have those too, and you are so right. Theres just a spiritual deepening that happens with these type of illnesses (for some of us) that is indescribable and for which I am grateful, despite the intense challenges it brings.

There are so many shelter cats that deserve a home too. I hope one day breeders are a thing of the past!
I don’t know about you, but this reminds me of a golden girls episode where Dorothy knew she was sick and all the doctors she went to told her she didn’t have anything until she got to the last doctor and he ended up telling her that she had some thing and she was finally validated for how she was feeling. I think it’s a really good message to not give up if you really feel like there’s something wrong.
I watched that one not long ago. She actually had chronic fatigue syndrome in it, which is what I have and what most long term long covid cases turn into, so actually very on point. And unfortunatley its still only taught about in 5% of medical schools, despite it affecting an insane amount of Americans...now way way more with long covid sadly.
I do remember that episode. Not everything fits in a box.

I’m so grateful that you finally found a diagnosis - I know how frustrating it is to have doctors telling you there’s nothing wrong with you when you know there is. Somehow just knowing what you’re up against can give you more strength to carry it

Hey Dezi! I just wanted to say that you should never feel like you have to apologize for taking care of yourself. Because of your videos, I have, very slowly, started to prioritize myself. Everything that you do seems to be aesthetically pleasing but also a form of self care. I appreciate your videos so much. Honestly, you could not post a video for a year and I would still be waiting to hear your stories and see the beauty of life that you show me. Thank you for putting so much thought into us, as your friends from afar. We love you, and all we want is for you to be safe and healthy.

Thank you for sharing all this with us. I’m sure it isn’t easy to show this level of vulnerability. You don’t ever need to apologize for being inconsistent with uploading or not being on socials enough. How else would you find the energy necessary to create such beautiful things in the first place if you didn’t have them in your heart? Our health, physical and mental, should always come first.

Hi Desi! I lived with Lyme for 6 years and eventually cured it through my diet and lots of self care. CBD drops helped me a lot as well when there was a flare up. I’m vegan now with a low sugar diet and I feel better than I ever have! I’m sharing this to hopefully give you hope that this too shall pass. There was a gift in the journey in that I can now read my body and intuitively feel what it needs. I have a better relationship with it. My body told me what I should eat and that’s different for each of us. @@DarlingDesi agreed on that lol. Amherst is really nice as is like Ashburnham and Ashby. The fall around those areas...just no words for the beauty! Also you're in my thoughts on your health issues!
Long time new Englander here from mass, I would like to make some suggestions, please visit Vermont ( basically the default for cozy and beautiful, especially fall) , if you want a beautiful small town living by the ocean 🌊 on an island, I recommend bar harbor Maine ( so pretty, I mean it will take your heart away) . The white mountains in New Hampshire is also a must. These three places are in my personal opinion some of the most beautiful places you will ever see. Also lime is crazy here in New England, throw your clothes in the dryer on high heat immediately after being outside, even in your back yard , get a lice comb and always check your hair , behind your ears and shower , I know it sounds extreme, but the ticks here are not to be take lightly. Please stay safe. Love your work and your videos. Have fun in New England. ❤

Yay!! So glad that New England feels like home to you Desi! I grew up in the greater Providence area but am now further north. If you haven't yet, I'd recommend visiting The Blue Hills around Canton, MA. It's light hiking with some views of the Boston skyline, cookout spots, and a fully lifeguarded lake. :) I'm so glad that this Dr. didn't give up on you and kept trying to find answers and that you're on the healing track.

I’m glad you’re getting health answers! I got Lyme in 2020 and it’s so so frustrating. Doctors don’t listen, everything is covid, and quite frankly it’s hard to advocate for yourself when you feel like poo. Desi, you have enriched all of our lives so much. In a way I hardly understand until you post again. Something specific I love about you and Jared is that I don’t notice that you don’t have kids, because you’re just genuinely living your best life that’s so enriched with all the smallest pleasures. You don’t have to have some big story of why or why not. You are just simply existing child free. It inspires me a lot as we have chosen that path as well and sometimes I find a lack of purpose and fulfillment and like everyone else is finding it in kids. Thank you so much for sharing about your life. I too had covid in January 2022 and have been struggling to get good health and energy back ever since. Your upload was an answer to prayer. Gave me hope by pointing out possible other conditions I may be dealing with that I hadn't thought of checking, and are highly possible. Glad you are seeing a functional medicine doctor. Have heard good reports by others that have gone that route. Also, one of the commenters below mentioned a diet change she did. Sometimes the answers for some of us are simple. Some are actually lifesaving. Love and joy and hope to you all. Keep sharing , everyone. Who knows what miracles will be wrought in the lives of those you touch. Have a beautiful season.

As a cat lover and parent, I can tell you (and anyone else who wonders) that cats are little fur angels sent to keep us happy and to learn patience, as it seems you've had to with Binx. I've learned so much patience with cats that all I can do is say, your kitties are beautiful and obviously happy.

All my (10) cats were strays from the mean streets of Saint Paul, Minnesota. We never paid a breeder, the feral and abandoned are the most lovable (imo). I post about my pet children and they love me for it. Cats are great. Thanks for having three fur babies. It takes strength and mental stamina to be cat owner.
Those of us who love your videos...and there are sooo many of us, appreciate every one of them you put out there. My 'I belong here' place was Killarney Ireland. Although I'm planning to go back, cannot realistically pull up stakes and live there. If you get the chance to do that in Rhode Island or nearby states (so many beautiful ones to choose from) by all means take it!!

Oh my goodness, how funny! I have an all black cat and a rag doll as well. They were both kittens that I was able to get together so it really helped them in their growth and not have aggressive kittens syndrome. But how beautiful! Your third little cat is just adorable. Welcome to New England! I have always admired how magical Desi can make Utah seem. I am so excited to see New England from her eyes. I was born and raised in New England and have always romanticized the seasons. There is so much to explore that varies from rural country to big city. The various areas shine at different times of the year, and there is always something to do.

I wanted to let you know that New England is really good for seasonal fruit picking, I highly recommend going berry picking in the spring, peach picking in the summer, and apple picking in the fall, it’s one of my favorite things about living in this general area!!

i’m so sorry for you dealing with all this illness at such a young age. i look forward to you finding a more permanent nest. spring in the NE comes with a lot of rain and not as warm as you’d like it to be. june is the most amazing month. july and august can get quite hot, but lately summer has been stretching into october. housing can be a challenge and anything near a coast is very expensive. more rural areas have big tick populations but there are suburban areas that are quite nice. good luck on your search!

Hi Desi! Glad you are happy where you are. I have been a new England girlie my whole life (except for my 8 years in England, which I adored!) I was born in MA and had a summer home in NH, but recently moved to Maine, and I love it. The forests, the countryside, animals, friendly people, quaint towns and the ocean! The quiet and the freedom is amazing. I highly recommend it! As for the irregularity in being able to edit and be productive, I can relate as I have both ADHD and am on the spectrum. I sympathize with your health concerns. Please take the very best care of precious you. We love and support you! 💜💙💚

I have been picking up & watching your videos since this past December 2022. You are most inspirational and uplifting. Your being is a ray of positive light that has helped me through a dark time. Thank you for reminding me of all the things I have forgotten in my hectic world. I have moved from one farm to anther in different states and the change has been extremely difficult. Especially running the livestock. You remind me to enjoy the simple in things in life. When your a farmer everything is just so much more important than what most of the world sees. I am truly grateful! 🙏🏼
