- The Legend of Casa Mar details the history of one of the most legendary tarpon fisheries on planet earth. The film dances back and forth from past to present with a breathtaking interview from fly fishing legend Peter Gorinsky, IGFA archive footage, and supporting footage taken during the film's production in 2021. This film follows anglers Jesse Males, Mark Evans, Micah Baly, and Thony Nunez as they uncover what the jungle has now been hiding for decades. Vibes of jungle exploration mixed with stunning tarpon action make this film run full-throttle from start to finish.

Wow! This is the best short film, and one of the best fishing films I’ve ever seen..and I’ve seen Lots. Watched it 3 times already this morning. Loved the interview with Mr. Gorinsky, I could have listened for hours. What a great way to start the week. I’ll be daydreaming of Casa Mar. I really appreciate your work Jesse. Looking forward to seeing you in the future. Thanks again and best wishes from Texas. 👍👍👌🎣✌️
Thanks so much for the love and support. I am very glad you enjoyed the film and even watched it multiple times. It was a pleasure being able to highlight such an amazing area.
So saddened by the loss. I had the chance to hang at Peters house several times enjoying a good coffee with him. May his soul Rest In Peace
Massive cool Jesse.
Thanks brother
Great work man 🔥👊
Thanks so much
Very well done and greatly appreciated!
Thanks so much for the kind words!
Great film Jesse. I have known Dan Blanton for a long time. He has told me many stories about Casa Mar and I’ve seen the pictures. You really brought it all together in this film. Great stuff!
I actually have a sequel to this film that I interviewed Dan Blanton for. It should be released sometime in the next year or so.
Just epic!
Thanks so much!!!
This is an incredible short film! The cinematography is excellent (as always!), and uniquely Jesse's vision. Anyone can tell a story of a forgotten paradise. But to bring that imagery to life, to inspire the next generation of adventure anglers, is a great task.
It is sad to see our Legends of Fishing, pass on or fade from the spot light. Those whom inspired our youth to pick up a rod and cast a fly, plug, or even a worm. Our culture has changed from the exploration of uncharted waters, & untamed fishing. To luxury, convenience, time constraints, and guaranteed results. But when the world locks down, due to panic and fear, it is hard to travel outside our own regions. If nothing else, I hope this film will inspire people to get back to fishing. Travel the world, to your dream destination, if only one time. Teach a child to fish, and pass on your knowledge. Before its to late for you, the fish, and places like Casa Mar!
Thanks so much for the kind words and inspiration! I couldn’t agree more!
Well said Chris 👍🎣
What a treat to see my dear friend Peter Gorinsky was part of this. It was honoring those who went before and introduces the new coming. Well done! May Peter have the best catch all the time in his new resting place. Peace be with you.

Brilliant video 💯
This video is well made and the scenes of the river mouth are beautiful. Unfortunately what made Casa Mar so famous does not exist anymore. Lefty and all the famous fly anglers of that time made Casa Mar famous because of the tarpon fishing in the lagoons. In this video the anglers are all fishing in the mouth of the river, not the lagoons. The lagoons are not accessable to the tarpon because they have silted in due to deforrestation and other factors. That spelled the end of Casa Mar. What a bummer.
The biggest tarpon you ever seen are in Costa Rica.

Hope you liked the video
