Everybody complains about the airbox noise, personally i like the airfilter where it is. It sits up high, so you can go through deep water and it seems to stay clean for longer. If you are going to be riding lots of single trails like that you should change the sprockets. There is no bike out there that is perfect for everything.
The bike does really well at high speeds as well. The chassis is stable and the wide ratio although a five speed still allows it to go 110+ mph after being uncorked with the stock motor and gearing which is honestly unreal.
How does this bike, with just the throttle stop replaced, the airbox restricter removed, and the smallest exhaust restricter removed, compare power wise to a stock ktm 500excf?
For better or for worse, I bought a new 2019 WR 450F. I've done the air box and the stock exhaust mod already, even left the spark arrester out for more flow. The GYTR competition ECUs are on backorder for the consumers to buy. Yamaha has uncorked so many WR 450F press bikes, there's not enough competition ECUs for customers to buy.
I have the '19 450FX which is the same bike but completely uncorked. I have not ridden the new WR but I can say that the FX is not a bike for a novice. It has a brutal power delivery. The WR should be quite a bit tamer but it will never feel like a 350. I put a Throttle Tamer on my FX and it helped smooth out the twitchy throttle at low speed.
I bought one as my very first bike, a complete novice and i love it :) I highly recommend a G2 throttle tamer 400 cam, and after that its a awesome bike not scary at all and with plenty of respect for it, ive found it a great first and last bike, it does everything so well :)

Can you do a short pro/con talk on the 2017-2019 KTM 500 EXC F ? Just got a deal on a new 2018, & sold the Africa Twin AS, it was a heavy big white/blue pig off road.
It’s his rodeo, and he clearly says he has more “seat time” at this point. I learn the most just listening, not talking and Jimmy emphasizes his points well.

is this bike california green sticker compliant? It seems like it meets all the requirements, but I cannot find a 2019 that is green sticker.

It would be a capable bike with little modifications needed
Is this bike handlable for novice riders or will this thing rip your arm off all the time?
If you downturn it how far off a 350 is it?

If you are a novice and under 225lbs get the wr 250f. It has plenty of power and the 6 speed transmission is great.
