Crystal, you are wise beyond your years. "Because", was an excellent choice for #1. I only learned this recently: I've always known Lennon was big on wordplay. You may know this already, but notice, "...the WORLD is round, it TURNS me on". "...the WIND is high, it BLOWS my mind". "...the sky is BLUE, it makes me CRY". I didn't know that for the 40+ years I've listened to this song.

Somehow, I just knew that Because would be your numero uno! It is just so perfectly beautiful. A couple of fast comments... First, as a child of the 60's who grew up with the Beatles as the soundtrack of my youth, I love 95% of the songs they made and still like the other 5% quite well. I would be hard pressed to come up with a top ten. Second, it always warms my heart when I see a young person fully appreciate the scope and genius of the Beatles. And you, my dear Crystal, show that technical and emotional appreciation better than any other I've seen. It's been a joy watching your journey. Thank you.

Crystal, this whole Journey has been such a gift to us, and this top-ten list is the cherry on top --your signature combination of keen analysis and emotional resonance. I personally think that any fan's top-ten Beatles list would need to be revised at least monthly at first, and then probably annually for the rest of your life. That being the case, I don't think any particular 10-list needs to cause undue stress, since we should all hopefully realize how arbitrary and fluid these things are within the much larger universe of the Beatles' gorgeous music. But it was fun in any case to listen to your list and try to guess what remained, as a way of testing our grasp of Crystal-world. I knew in advance that your list would be heavily weighted toward Abbey Road and Let it Be, from your initial reactions. Including "Warm Gun" was definitely bold--as bold as excluding Hey Jude (or Day in the Life, for that matter)--and testifies to your not yet being heavily influenced by The Canon. In George-land, while I love "Here Comes the Sun" I can definitely get behind both Something and Gently Weeps as the more thrilling songs. Back to Abbey, I had to laugh when your honorable-mention list showed your struggle to prevent that album from totally colonizing the list. Here's the thing: you will have decades, many decades to revisit the Beatles, and if you want to spend an entire decade being helplessly ravished by Abbey Road, that is TOTALLY OK. Another decade, White Album. Pepper. Revolver. Whatever. That music isn't going anywhere. Meanwhile, I did guess about four in that you were going to end up with Because as No.1, since it hadn't appeared by then. It was so clear from your initial reaction that it had its hooks in deep, very deep.
Especially given the slant of this list, I would really, really love to hear your reaction to the Get Back documentary, since they were writing not only all the Let It Be songs but about half of Abbey Road as well. Obviously you can't live-react to an 8-hour doc, but just your thoughts/feelings. Just whenever you have the chance.
Above all, though, thanks again for letting us in on your journey.

After watching your Beatles Top Ten, and reading all of the comments, prior to starting mine, I don't believe that I can add much more without being redundant. But I can say that there are very, very few Beatles songs that I'm not a fan of, and I'll not put forth my list as others have, Because (see what I did there, huh?) there would probably be a tie among multiple songs for each slot. Each song carries a memory and a message for me, all dear to me, just as you'll now have the same. I enjoyed watching your reactions, saw moments when you heard something that grabbed your soul, looking up at the camera in disbelief at what you were listening to, and sometimes I laughed, and sometimes it brought a tear, but always in a joyous way seeing that same appreciation that I, too, once felt.
Please continue on the road you're traveling, and, every chance you get, put on some Beatles whenever friends are with you, but don't announce your intentions. Just look at their faces, and enjoy.
The Beatles will do that to you. You're now one of us, and that's special. You wear it well. ✌️♥️

Excellent list. The Beatles are my favorite group ever and,,,,,it's a long story.
Briefly: The White album is my favorite album of all time. I was 15 when I first heard it in '83. The Beatles had been my favorite for years but I knew the one album and single that my mum had and whatever got played on the radio. She Loves You, Help, stuff like that.
I heard the white album and the long and short of it is that this album had the biggest impact on me as a musician and music listener. Nothing else will ever come close. This album is 'ground zero' for me. Everything I ever liked before or since all eminates out of this album front wards and backwards.
Sound strange? Well, the track on the LP that impacted me the most out of 30 impactful songs was 'Revolution 9'. This album and this track taught me a lesson I decided I really wanted to learn: that anything can be music and any kind of music can be good music. No matter the genre. That's what the white album did to/for me.
Now songs I would consider favorites largely cater to an emotional need for a catharsis if you will.
Every single song on every single bit of plastic makes me feel good but some take me further.
'HEY JUDE' is number one. Not only my favorite Beatles song but my favorite song of all time.
When there's a need for a release, 'HELTER SKELTER' is my goto. DEAR PRUDENCE and HAPPINESS IS... are more big ones there.
Because of my brain, I sometimes long for altered states. Anything to make me feel different and the big songs that help with that are UNIVERSE, STRAWBERRY FIELDS, IT'S ALL TOO MUCH, TOMORROW NEVER KNOWS. I'd say SHE SAID SHE SAID is good for that. But that one was about a bad trip.
Stuff I like simply because they're enjoyable would include, SHE LOVES YOU, AND I LOVE HER, HELP, IF I NEEDED SOMEONE, DIG A PONY, 'The long one', ie the medley from MONEY to THE END on Abbey Road.
But like I said, I love them all. I simply cannot get bored of The Beatles. No matter the phase I might be in, whether I'm in a punk phase, a prog phase, a jazz/classical/hillbilly phase, I can listen to The Beatles anytime.
Thanks for these videos. I really enjoyed reliving the discovery phase as it were.

Hi Crystal. What a beautiful selection of songs and your choice of BECAUSE as number one captures why your whole exploration of the Beatles music has been a delight. Of all the reviewers on You Tube doing this, you stand out because you cut to the emotional heart of what makes the Beatles who they are. You bring out their spiritual resonance that has touched the hearts of countless people down the decades regardless of race, culture and creed. I love your beautiful reflections on the music and how you highlight the amazing vocal expressions, so important to each song. Thank you for all you've brought to this journey and continued prayers for your own journey of the loss and grief of your precious Dad.

Isn't it amazing to think they were considered the best band ever before they really began stretching themselves with Rubber Soul? Anyway, I'll have a go. My Top Ten: 1. Hey Jude, 2. Yesterday. 3. Because, 4. In My Life, 5. Let it Be, 6. A Day in the Life, 7. Golden Slumbers, 8. Something, 9. The Long and Winding Road, 10. I Want to Hold Your Hand. Wonderful choices, wonderful analysis, just simply wonderful, as to what's next go with your heart and your beloved Dad's nudging
    10) "Because": beautiful vocals that shine even more angelic on the acapella version on "Anthology 3"; 9) "Two Of Us": nostalgic, wether loved ones or pals, very nostalgic; 8) "With A Little Help From My Friends": Ringo's best Beatle vocal; 7) "It's All Too Much": George gives a run for the money to Jimi Hendrix in a majestic nod to the world of psychedalia with roots still in one's home; 6) "I Am The Walrus": giving the fans gobbledegook instead became more fuel to fire of Beatles' song meanings; 5) "And I Love Her": Paul at his best with a very simple heartfelt love song touched by George's acoustic pickings; 4): "Nowhere Man": John says what we all sometimes feel; 3) "Eleanor Rigby": Paul gives his take on the same subject with George Martin's string arrangement that nails it; 2) "Across The Universe": "Images of broken light..." and John creates his literary magnum opus for the ages; 1) "Let It Be": Paul gives this hymnal classic a strong voice of Hope, and I prefer the single version, much more subdued and refined 🎶
Great job Crystal! (and of course being Beatle fans, with their wealth of material, always subject to change, like the waves of an ocean) 🌊🎶🎶🎶👌👌👌👏👏👏

Hi Crystal, I’m glad I discovered your channel. It’s great to hear someone discuss rock who understands music. Your impressions are personal, and that is what makes it unique. You’ve put a lot of thought into what the music and songs do to you. I was floored by your comments about Pink Floyd’s Wish You Were Here, my favorite of their albums. It’s got so much depth. So I was excited to hear your top 10 Beatles songs. Many of them are mine. I personally would still go with A Day in the Life, as not only the best Beatles song, but one of the best songs of any time ever recorded. But Something, While My Guitar Gently Weeps and Happiness is a Warm Gun have stayed with me my whole life. I grew up with these songs, so it’s comforting seeing younger people appreciate the music from the 60s and 70s. It was an amazing time. I have a recommendation: Give a listen to Zombie by The Cranberries, but first read why Irish woman Dolores O’Riordan wrote it. One of the most powerful songs ever written. Thanks for all your comments and the emotion you put into your videos.

but like you said, your list could change at any time. that's why i say i have 100 favorite beatle songs. because, the fact is, i do! that's what's so great about them.

But you gave me the feeling to make this experience again. That was a huge gift you offered to me. So let me give you a present too by a thought of mine: you can see The Beatles in two ways. Either as a band that is existing when all of the four members are playing together. Or you see them like I decided - as a phenomenon where each of them (John, Paul, George and Ringo) is 'The Beatles' by himself. So that means that there is Beatles around until today because every solo album of one of the Four was (and is) in that meaning a Beatles album.

    6. Rocky Raccoon
    5. A Day In the Life
    4. Yesterday
    3. Strawberry Fields Forever
    2. I've Got a Feeling
    1. Oh! Darling
The majority is made up of McCartney songs, just because I love his melodies and the themes he uses in his songs, any of the songs could change in ranking depending on the day, but I think that the top of the list would stay mostly the same, I love the melancholy that you can hear in Yesterday, the insecurity that we've all felt that appears on Help!, the themes of overcoming your weakness found in Dear Prudence, the dreamy feeling and wonder of Strawberry Fields Forever as well as A Day In the Life (Not to mention the genius and juxtaposition in the lyrics), the raw emotion that McCartney displays on I've got a feeling as well as Oh! Darling is incredible and something that I've always aspired to as a musician to-be. I love the way that these songs make me feel, allowing me to look inward and at myself as a person, as well as make my acknowledge my emotions.
Crystal, thank you for making re-realize my love of The Beatles and for allowing me to listen to these songs with someone else.

Great choice. Very fresh (so different from the Rolling Stone's list). RS approached the list in a very technical way (well! Not surprising since RS's list was in fact the result of poll among the musicians) while your list is more emotional which will last longer, if not forever, because those songs relate to our deepest feeling. Because as numero uno is brilliant, really caught me off guard. I am glad and proud you chose Because because it is also my favorite song and it was a song that define John Lennon

I don’t usually like reaction channels where the songs are cut up (though I could understand it for the Beatles since they would be blocked before you could say “Sgt. Pepper’s”) but you give heartfelt thoughts on the music, so your channel is the exception.
Also: I would have classified most of the 2nd side of Abbey Road as a medley (it’s often seen that way) and had that as my number one.

Good choices Crystal, as for my top 10, I guess it would depend on my mood for the day. "Let It Be" for sure, "I'm Looking Through You", "I Need You", "The Word", "Here There and Everywhere", "Come Together", "Something" "And I Love Here", "Don't Let Me Down" just name a few (9)! I am not putting a 10th because I love so many of their songs. Good job Crystal. Love the the connection story about "Across the Universe." Your Dad is still looking out for you across the universe in "Spirit". God bless and take care.

You've tackled the toughest job of the 20th century - THE BEATLES' TOP TEN LIST ! I dig your list, baby! (and of course, the 1001 honorable mentions too). As an aside, of all the great covers of the Beatles, I recommend Judy Collins' tender rendition of "In My Life".

This is a great and interesting list!
I’ve found it very difficult to try to list my favorite 10. I’m still not completely happy with mine, but so far it’s:
    10. A Day in the Life
    9. I’m Looking Through You
    8. Yesterday
    7. Yer Blues
    6. Octopus’s Garden
    5. Tomorrow Never Knows
    4. In My Life
    3. Hey Jude
    2. Don’t Let Down
    1. Across the Universe

What you said about your honorable mentions and the six that were at #1 at one point was so funny and so perfectly describes why I've never made a top 10 that I felt good about at all.
Absolutely perfect #1 and #2. You raised my (already high) opinion of your taste a great deal! To be honest, While My Guitar... usually lands at #1 for me. Because would make almost every top 10. I'd have more rock songs. Revolution, Get Back, sometimes Glass Onion, And Your Bird Can Sing, Taxman...
    I'll just stop.

Hi Crystal, thanks for sharing your list, although somewhat too much melodic for my 'beataste' . Mine is: 10 - In my life; 9 - I am the walrus; 8 - I saw her standing there; 7 - Nowhere man; 6 - She's leaving home; 5 - For no one; 4 - A day in the life; 3 - Dear Prudence; 2 - Tomorrow never knows; 1 - She said she said. Enough said!

Another nice job by you !... i think that my top 10 is ever changing depending on my mood and the world around me...that's one of the things that is great about the Beatles, so many great, life altering (and music altering) tunes... the thing that impressed me about this list is the nice spread of John, Paul and George songs... many folks find one sound or another as their favorite and their lists seem to concentrate on that Beatles tunes... this is really an impossible task..

Great list! We have a few favorites in common, but that’s the cool thing about The Beatles! They have so many classics, my list would change from month to month. You really should do The Anthology series, you’ll love hearing the songs in their earlier incarnations, it’s fascinating!

It´s a great list and some of it surprised me but it shows that their songs can have different meanings to different people, and that is what is so great about the Beatles. My number one is a Day in the Life and I think Something would be higher on my list. Gongratulations on finishing your journey through the wonder of the Beatles it was fun and interesting sharing a part of it with you.

    Hi Crystal--
i am 67 and probably not your target audience, but as a lifelong beatles fan (since the 1960's!) i have enjoyed your videos and reactions, and especially your insight. unfortunately you'll never know the feeling of waiting sometimes weeks or months at a time in anticipation for that next beatle single or album to come out for the first time and see what they did next.
here is my top ten--the top five are constant, the bottom five change from time to time (or day to day).
thanks for sharing your journey. (PS #11 would be hey jude) :-)
    10. you can't do that
    9. i'll be back
    8. sgt pepper's lonely hearts club band
    7. don't let me down
    6. hey bulldog
    5. while my guitar gently weeps
    4. yer blues
    3. i want you (she's so heavy)
    2. within you, without you
    1. (not only my #1 beatles song, but IMHO, the best song ever written by ANYONE, EVER) strawberry fields forever

Great job Crystal, on ALL of your Beatles reaction videos! I am so pleased I stumbled across them early and have been here for the duration! You are such an excellent reactor I will be here for every music reaction video or album you ever cover, even if I don't like the band! I loved your list, I love Because! You surprised me with "Happiness Is . . ". I can't pick a top ten, but if I had to "Here There And Everywhere", "If I Fell" and "For No One" would on my list. The only thing wrong with your channel is that you don't have hundreds of thousands more subscribers because you DESERVE them! Thank you so much!!!!

    10) Rain 9) Mother Nature's Son 8) Strawberry Fields 7) Golden Slumbers 6) Oh Darling 5) She Said She Said 4) Ask me Why
    3) Penny Lane 2) Dear Prudence 1) I Want You (She's So Heavy)

Crystal, you're so right that a top ten list of Beatles songs can't stay the same for long. Below is mine that I posted on another channel about a year ago (just in alphabetical order, I couldn't go any further), and already I'm doubting it. "Because" is one of my very favorites that just missed out - great choice for No. 1. "Happiness Is a Warm Gun" is an unusual choice, but so are some of mine! We overlap only on Eleanor Rigby, but I know you really liked "If I Needed Someone", "And Your Bird Can Sing", "For No One", and others. Thanks for all the vids!
    A Day in the Life
    And Your Bird Can Sing
    Eleanor Rigby
    Fixing a Hole
    For No One
    Hey Bulldog
    I Feel Fine
    If I Needed Someone
    Strawberry Fields Forever
    Tomorrow Never Knows

Wow, you have a talent. I did wonder where 'Come together' got to. It has the power to blow the minds of any non-Beatle newbies. Love that you gravitated towards the more spiritual offerings. If later solo works were in the mix, I can see 'My Sweet Lord' near the top with 'Imagine' nearby. Thank you for gift.
