Your right. I am a living example. I kept confessing that i would love to be a Medical Dr in this life time since i was a young adult. At age 44yrs i got the opportunity and graduating in less than 2 months time after 6 years of medical education.. This would be my 11 academic qualification. There is indeed power in spoken words.
@@bigman7185 , your story is exactly my son's story, he also from a young age wanted to be a doctor, I felt bad as a single struggling mother from Africa, cant even help my son much financially and as you know to study medicine comes with a lot of uni fees to pay, long story short, In the end I can say thank God he finished medical school in 2020 and is working for the NHS in London, just goes to show, if its meant to be so shall it be, ❤
Am a Nigerian residing in the UK and I must say your journey to greatness is an amazing one. Motivating and inspirational. We need more girls like you coming through the ranks as captains. Weill done Captain Karauri and also a special thanks to 2 of the best airlines in Africa -Ethiopian Airlines and Kenya Airways for supporting women who dream of becoming pilots.
Well done Ruth, from John in the UK. An inspiration to many people who have lived their dreams, even if it was only at the start to wear a certain uniform. The path to becoming a 787 captain is NOT easy, thousands would have fallen by the wayside, once again, well done!!! Good luck for the future in your career.
It's obvious to me why she succeeded: a truly remarkable person in so many ways! BTW, I salute Kenya Airways for leading the world in gender equality. Why don't they crow a little louder about this?
Why did you skipped the part where she was talking about how hard to get passport in nyayo House ,,, and this how problem will continue being the norm since we are afraid to hit the nail on the head
I beg to differ you can't be the salt of the world if all you know is to qoute Scriptures , we go to school Excell comit your ways unto the LORD and he will prosper you.
am so excited and happy for her i feel like its me with that achievement!! and such insightful words of advice to parents. so proud of you Ruth and Clive too with whom she was with on that heathrow flight. keep going.
. A thrilling story beyond words. From village to the sky and an example for any woman, any African, any person anywhere. Simply to hear that accent and to see that uniform and to listen to that story all at the same time gives such confidence that women, including African women, are on their way to achieving their place beside any man. This story shows us that a whole half of all humanity deserves to be unleashed to raise us all up.
Love this lady's story and I just want to know even more about her. Been to Kenya twice and all told (between the two trips) I traveled seven times on Kenya Airways within the Kenyan interior and back and forth to London. On my first trip there was great pride amongst the airline and the people as there had recently been an all-female flight (pilot, co-pilot, and crew). I'm willing to bet she was a part of that. My heart swells with pride for the women of Kenya.
Bombardier CRJ is now Japanese under Mitsubishi ownership. I thought I should correct that for fellow plane lovers!! Good interview!! Such an inspirational story!!👍🏾👂🏾 👏🏾🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 "Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble." James 2:19
Captain Ruth, you're a gift to the world. Gifted. Intelligent. Elegant. Humble. What a wonderful combination. Continuing inspiring with what you do and you're beautiful life. God's rich blessings continue to be upon you as you inspire the next generation of aviation professionals. I loved the video.

Beautify and inspiring story! Thank you beautiful sister for blazing the trail for not just young girls but young Africans in general. Keep flying high!
I 💖 this. I love travel, respect and admire Pilots. Female pilots are capable & brave just like male pilots Uni is'nt everything, Bet she's making more money that MANY University graduates. She's a great inspiration. 🌹👏👍✔️
From humble beginning ,God has sustained her in her beautiful journey, congratulations to you and best wishes to our future women pilots not only from Kenyan but from the whole continent of Africa.
Wow! CPT Ruth Karauri is such an amazing Pilot. bravo bravo. You are the key changer to the young generation, you will be the turning point to the lives of many.
Wow i hope when they do retrenchment these aldy pilots are not let go. they are such a big asset in so many ways. inspirational to the country and also to the world it shows Kenya is a very very progressive country and that elevates the countries image especially having African lady pilots. If you told anyone around the world even in Kenya that there are 40 lady pilots they wount believe it just like me and others did not think Kenya has 40 lady pilots. I though they were just a handful five at most those ones we see on youtube and occasionally in the media. How come we never get to hear about these lady pilots. 40 of them is phenomenol.
Woow ur inspirational u made my day .i have always wanted to be an aviator who did a bit of ground school in Zimbabwe funds run out now a car dealer instead ..I have flown with KQ to dar es salaam several times I love the service
What a lovely, humble, natural lady. I also wanted to be a pilot. I wanted to fly planes. I wanted to fly, period. But I gave up on my dreams. I was told I couldn't become a pilot because I was born with a stutter. I heard this piece of advice from a KQ captain. So, it was legit information. I gave up. I went to High School. I went to University. I studied Graphic Design and Advertising. That Bachelor's degree is sitting in the bottom of my bedroom drawer. I do nothing with it. I still want to fly. So I think she's right. She would've been miserable if she'd gone for Engineering instead of following her dreams.
Congratulations Captain Ruth you are awesome and a mind is a terrible thing to waste and women are capable in any field. History has shown their power and leadership African ones in particular well done captain Ruth.
Captain Karauri. You are an exemplary icon to mankind in achieving one’s goal. Wish u well in all your future flying days. Greetings from Colombo, Sri Lanka 👍
Yes! univsersity degree is overrated. If you are doing something technical and you feel like going to university is not something you really need and are ready to go straight to the job market we should encourage that. Infact most developed countries like Germany after high school many of the students join the job market like going to work for companies in technical fields like factory workers operating highly sophisticated equipment. Thats what they call skilled workers which Kenya needs so badly. Infact most developed countries have more workers without UNI degrees than with UNI degrees. UNI Degrees should be kept for people who need extra training like doctors, some engineering, if you are specializing in careers that have biology, physics, chemistry in them. MBA if you want to become a CEO, psychiatrists. What the govt needs to do is list careers that do not require university degrees and those that require one. So that students do not need to waste 3yrs of their lives going to UNiversity when they do not have to. Thats why we need more TVETS than universities. If someone who needs Advance learning like this pilot they can later on to do a masters or advance courses after working in their careers.
Nice captain ; she is beautiful. The landing the video showed was very impressive to me . I would think that it would have needed good training but also nerves of steel . I am from Colombia and salute that lady .
Glad to hear this story. What a beautiful story, touching for every one of us trying to follow their hearts and passion. This indeed a destiny, Captain. Your soul was giving signs from an early age (the love for the uniform, etc.). So proud for the achievements. ❤❤❤
Capt. Ruth... Congratulations on your carrier success! And highly appreciated yours expression about achieving your carrier goal honestly.... It is much motivational talk... Wish you all the best

Well done Ruth. You're a very skillful pilot.

Hope this is not about gender but about the person for the job.

Why did you skipped the part where she was talking about how hard to get passport in nyayo House ,,, and this how problem will continue being the norm since we are afraid to hit the nail on the head
