@@redtonestudio2982 great. I did put mine together finally. fun project. paired it out with a Alesis RA100, work's nicely, and sounds better than I thought. Of course I listened to the Thriller album for a test drive and now I think understand these cute little tools. Can't wait to try them on a mix.
Got surrounds from an old MS898 PC surround system.. 2x15w + 5w .. Im going to try my hand with these... Perhaps make the length 1.5 the width and use real heavy cotton... I need something that will relay the vibration to the table Im working on..
I still use them for mix checks in the mid range like they were designed for. I think the build looks good too on my desk so even if I don't turn them on I can't complain!
You could mix a beat or a song on any speaker. It might then only sound good on that speaker. Mixing on actual studio monitors in an acoustically treated room gives you a better chance that your beat or song will sound good on any speaker.
They sound terrible, but that's the point. They only produce the midrange which is the most important part of a mix. Get the mix sounding decent on these, then switch to your good speakers and get the lows dialed in and you'll have a great mix.
No need for an amplifier? I’m trying to build just one for mono reference and I’m lost on what exactly I need to buy. I want to make and active cube. Just like the avantone mixcube. Any suggestions?
They need an amplifier, I am using a crown XLS2500 that is overkill. I'm sure you can find some small amps from PartsExpress to mount internally to them.
tomorrow a pair of 5" cones are delivered here to make a set of auratone clones..your built is inspiring. -they look great!
Thanks for watching! I hope yours turn out great

Good luck! Usually you want to make sure your speakers don't vibrate your table directly. Your listener won't have the same table...
Was it worth it?

@@redtonestudio2982 I know this is kinda strange but is it possible to mix a beat for start to finish on a boom box?…like a joke one or so

Nice how do they sound?
