You can learn a lot about life just by listening to this Wiseman . This is the kind of people young people need to give their ears to instead them rappers talking about sex , drug, guns etc. I would rather spend 25 mins with bill Duke than spending a all day at the white House with Donald trump.
One of my favorite quotes is this "It takes a brilliant mind to be able to entertain a thought and not accept it". What he is saying to me is that you should never stop learning or take a subject you know well as something mastered. A smart person will hear you out first then decide later whether to keep an idea and use it or throw it away. Knowing what to do with something you learned is true wisdom.
This man have some serious deep thought, and it's crazy that sometimes I think like him. I never stop asking why?

My father was racist, but a Very Good Man & a WW2 Naval Veteran whom I could never get him to understand that I had good friends of all colors in school & who I liked to hang with in the neighborhood. His response was: "Don't bring any of THEM into or onto our home & property." This was in: 1963 South Texas. I watched this video cause Mr Bill Duke is an inspiration and always liked him in movies I noticed him in.
I can’t believe it. This man spoke my exact thoughts. I’m only 17 and I have the same exact thought process of this man. To look at your self from such a large scale and to realize how small everything really is. And my favorite question has always been why. I always wonder why. This man spoke my thoughts. And I’m shocked tbh.
I have been telling ppl for years that we lack in knowledge bc we don’t question anything except bills, children (sometimes), and friends or social media driven topics and we are just satisfied with that bubble everyday of our lives till the die we leave here. I said this is one of the main reasons we have been dumbed and have also dumbed down ourselves. CONVENIENCE. Everything is so convenient that we don’t have to think, act or take responsibility bc we have ppl in positions and authority to tell us everything we need to know so we can do all the simplistic shit and live our best lives. It’s so sad and it’s the majority
IMHO true wisdom is being ok with not knowing. always questioning why can get in the way what is and just working within in it. inquiries and information are only valuable when they streamline an objective.
but the human mind is wired to solve problems, and if there arent any we will create them for ourselves... so to me true wisdom is the place where you stop creating them and find your slack.

I worked in film in the 80s and 90s and studied digital film little over a decade ago. I'm watching because I've ALWAYS admired Bill Duke and his work and through these interviews, he is encouraging me to complete the film that's been gnawing at my heart for the past 30 years. As he said, Never Stop Learning and Never Give Up whether you're 20 or 100.

I watched this video because I would like to Direct a Film soon. What I learned is to never stop learning and always question the source. I always do my own research before I make an opinion. I hope that if given a chance, I will extend the philosophy of people like the Great Bill Duke here. Awesome interview!
