Sasabe, Arizona: The Phantom Bordertown (REUPLOAD)

Far less known than the busy border communities of San Diego-Tijuana, El Paso-Ciudad Juarez, and Nogales among others, the port of entry at Sasabe is a quiet, but active border crossing on the Arizona border with Mexico. Lacking the colorful street life of other towns along the U.S.-Mexican border, Sasabe, Arizona, is also a ghost town amid one of the most trafficked corridors for undocumented migration into the United States. Despite its isolation, Sasabe and the travel corridor around it have a profound history with significant implications for Northwestern Mexico and Southern Arizona.

Sasabe, Az was where My mum, Cecilia Swann🌝 lived in the Late 1980's (Next door to the Serrano Chapel) She taught music at the Sasabe public school, and organized the kids to recycle.

I use to hunt west of Sasabe in the hills there in the late 80's. We used to get supplies at the only store in sasabe. Loved being down there back in those days.

I knew a family with a ranch just outside Sasabe. I heard from another rancher that the cartel has murdered or run off 3,000 sassbe area residents. What the news doesn’t tell you. Wonder if my friend is still alive
