I didnt even know who he was until coming across this video, but out of all of the talent that Drumeo has introduced to us, this is by far my favorite. He just brings something different to the table. Carter Mclean is another really creative drummer that they have had on.
Jamming with a good friend who is a guitarist is precisely how I excelled rather quickly, when I first started playing. After a couple of years we were having tight, 3-hour improv sessions. Great advice, awesome upload, and fantastic drumming.
OMG this is so helpful. Thank you guys so much! Just realized that the reason my beats sound all the same is because I always play the first groove, and I've been ignoring 2 3 & 4 all the time. Gonna start working on those other essential grooves.
Perfect timing, thank you for this video! And...THANK YOU Jamie from work for telling me to watch this video. Honestly, I just can't believe the timing. Sorry for going on and on here - but I just have to share. So yesterday I'm at work, a bit exhausted. Well, to be 100% direct, I'm overwhelmed. I need time off and told my friend Jamie I'm going to. So she asks what I'm going to do? She suggested golfing and I almost spit the water I was drinking out of my mouth. Thankfully it didn't come to that ; ) I told her I need to start something easy and fun and thought to play and sing more music. So she told me about this channel - and it's given me new ideas. I'm going to start practicing piano soon too. AND...if all goes well...I'm going to bring my friends together and who knows, maybe even start a weekend band. Thank you Jamie. Thank you for creating this video and thank you universe for Jamie finding out about it too. Alright, bye for now - and big hugs to my new music friends : )
Great teaching video. Sets what I feel is a number one consideration - music is a team sport and playing with others is the most critical learning experience of all.
I like how he explains how he makes such groovy beats, my brother plays like this but I never could figure out how he does it, but now I can. I might actually be able to get on His skill level
Sorry, I'm confused. When you jammed on 6/8 it sounded like triplet half time to me. The triplets did not sound like the eight note triplets you played the first time around. Am I missing something?
I really like the way he used that halftime beat. For a sec, I started thinking what's the time sig. Totally different than the Purdie shuffle. Think I'll work with that
Good drummer and bass player to hear play together in a band setting is Danny Carey and Justin Chancellor would love to at least see Danny Carey on here eventually... That man has perfected odd time playing and making polyrhythms musical
Awesome!! Love JP Bouvet drumming as always... I wondering to be like him. Everytime I play the drum with my band, someone always notice me that my drumming is not life (not being one with the other instrument). Would you or somone who has more experience in drumming carrier give me some advice to fix my problem?? 😀 Thanks #sorryformybadenglish 😂😂😂
When I hit my snare, my stick dies. I don’t get bounce like that man. Every video I watch these dudes get insane bounce off of their kits and barely hit them. Is my snare head too loose?
Are there any good websites to find local "Learning" musicians to jam with? Average-Intermediate+ This guy got the groove in his bones tho. Digging these jams)) made me go listen to Jakob and This Will Destroy You instrumental bands

Food for my ears
Your calm approach in sharing your insights is excellent ! Great video !
This guy has some of the best flows I’ve ever laid my eyes on. Extremely jealous.
“Flows”……hair?? 😊
That drumset is beautiful
Marko Radakovic gorgeous
A few years ago I got a used Sonor designer kit, which was always a wish of mine. However they`re green sparkle! Killer sound regardlesss.
Mid 90s DW Collectors. I love mine :)
This type of drumming creates such a relaxing jam for a 3-piece group.
Finally! Not just drums. Actually someone playing with other musicians.
I didnt even know who he was until coming across this video, but out of all of the talent that Drumeo has introduced to us, this is by far my favorite. He just brings something different to the table. Carter Mclean is another really creative drummer that they have had on.
His cymbals sound like God whispering in your ear
yes lol i was thinking the exact same thing
Meinl
Meinl decimates all others.
Isn't that the same sound as one hand clapping?
Subjective...

I've been doing this for over 55 years my friend.I hope you take this seriously. You are blessed my friend.RW
Great teaching video. Sets what I feel is a number one consideration - music is a team sport and playing with others is the most critical learning experience of all.
The music you were playing to illustrate the grooves is better than 90% of the music I've heard in the past 15 years. Give me some more of that.👍
8:11 isnt that 8th note triplets with snare on 2 & 4? Not half time?
god everything is so beautiful perfect! sound, playing, drumset, cymbals, hair! awesome!
bring zach hill!
Loving these snippets.... These would really help strengthen the grooves... Thanks Drumeo!!
I like how he explains how he makes such groovy beats, my brother plays like this but I never could figure out how he does it, but now I can. I might actually be able to get on His skill level
Nice Tutorial! these basic patterns are so essential to all drum playing
His Groove feeling is crazy
Love the harmony of the band.
Nice lesson. Thank you guys for sharing 👏😌
I’ve watched this 3 times already , thank you
Love this, thanks! This is the music I want to play. And wow, those cymbals!
I'd suggest a fifth essential groove: the 6/8 "cut time" or basic shuffle.
Lionel Luthor has a great talent for explaining grooves and that band has a terrific vibe.
What a beautiful guitar playing. I love that technique. Very informative drum lesson. Thank you.
Sorry, I'm confused. When you jammed on 6/8 it sounded like triplet half time to me. The triplets did not sound like the eight note triplets you played the first time around. Am I missing something?
Those hit hats sound SO good...
the sound itself is really perfect , just like they are performing live and am watching
He absolutely creative🔥🔥
I really dig that first jam, kind of reminds of I Talk to the Wind by King Crimson.
Those hats set up to perfection! What are they?
Extremely elegant and understated playing. His restraint and focus is truly inspiring.
lol
Jesus Christ they are so talented this just showed me how much I have to learn
can you make the last example a full song??? please? I'll buy it :(
loving the hair JP, you have a very confident projection with the look
I like this guy! Keep bringing him back!
The snare sounds so amazing
Is there a full version of groove No-4 with the band.is there a full song for it
Can you please do a lesson with Nick D'Virgilio ?
He' is amazing
I very much concur. He comes across as a really great guy as well to be honest.
He is a very nice guy. I met him at PASIC this year and we talked about doing a lesson in 2018. Won't be soon but it will happen.
They just did yay
JP is the man! Such a nice dude, and a heck of a player!
Brass does sound good, I agree. The guitarists certainly aren't hurting anything. Very nice... Utah Kid.......
Very clean and clear .. love Drumeo ... always
I really like the way he used that halftime beat. For a sec, I started thinking what's the time sig. Totally different than the Purdie shuffle. Think I'll work with that
Great, but I still need tabs for that haha. can I find them anywhere?
Good drummer and bass player to hear play together in a band setting is Danny Carey and Justin Chancellor would love to at least see Danny Carey on here eventually... That man has perfected odd time playing and making polyrhythms musical
Listening to him play hurts my brain
Been playing drums for 4 years. Decided to watch this video.
Please tell me Wich song is that one on the beginning of this video?
Thank you 👍❤👍
As a guitarist would this be the same do these apply to Country and Rockabilly?
Can you guys get Stan Bicknell in. My god his right foot technique is insane
Problem is that he's from Australia and drumeo is in the US
Yea i guess
He's already been asked by Drumeo. They'd just have to sort out logistical stuff but a lesson with him should be coming at some stage!
Its only $700 for a return ticket also, I would say the Aussie drummer you should be bringing out is Lucius Borich!! he is a monster!!
Vancouver, BC.
Band is killing! Drumeo, could you please tell us the name of tune and where we can find full version of it?
Bro the band is called Childish Japes, research it on youtube
This was incredibly helpful and enjoyable.
What a sound what a feel beautiful we need more
Thanks man. Big help for a hack like me. But getting there. Keep on keeping on.
novice question: when you did 7/8 time, was it more of an 8/8, ghosting the 8th note?
I love drumeo...cant live widout it
He’s not teaching you HOW to do anything he’s doing. He’s just showing off. Congratsa-fucking-lations!
gran trío, si señor..
Very nice, love the overall sound of that drumset, and those cymbals, Oooh weeeh!
Great teacher.
Great video and some gorgeous music.
Awesome!! Love JP Bouvet drumming as always...

I thought you were going to embellish... Still great feel though. I have always loved your playing since you won Guitar Center and I first heard you
Beautiful playing by you and your band, so tastefull!
One word: tasteful
Those cymbals! Please what are they, love this sound!
The two rides are the Ralph Peterson signatures. Didn't catch the rest.
Ghost note goals!
Nice grove and lessons... Thanks
JP doing the Half time Purdue shuffle, made popular by another 'JP', Jeff Porcaro.
Oh god, i love so much your cymbals!
Matías Pauer Meinl Byzance series :)
I still play drums but I'm from interstate over the other side of the world😸🌏Cheers✌🏼.
Wow great lesson!
Cool guy great video and kit
I've said it before and I'll say it again, I want a lesson with Horgh or Frost ^^
Nice Guitar !☺︎
Ohhhhhh😍😍😍😍😍😍😍 that kit
Sounds good, and thanks.
love it!!
When I hit my snare, my stick dies. I don’t get bounce like that man. Every video I watch these dudes get insane bounce off of their kits and barely hit them. Is my snare head too loose?
Great lessons

What's the song played at the very start??????????
Just a improv

I'm having a difficulty time hearing the difference between straight 6/8 and triplet half-time. Can someone please explain how to count it?
I'm guessing it comes down to feel. It's the difference between a straight eighth note feel, or a triplet feel. Did I answer my own question?
Triplet half time is swung, and 6/8 is not
@@SL-xy5pn its 1 2 3 4 5 6
And 1 (+) a 2 (+) a 3 (+) a.....
Can any Meinl experts list his cymbals for me?? Thanks in advance!
Thank you
