Sehr schön! I like this interpretation a lot. Thank you for daring to do something different with this piece! It sounds very fresh, always moving the ear somewhere without being over indulgent in the expression!
I think some of the closeups were added later, as in movies, TV interviews, etc., explaining the amazing travelling wedding ring. I can't see him switching it back and forth!
Beautiful! And the cellist does it absolutely right in managing the low B-flat at the end, following Schumann's instruction to lower the C-string right after the return to B-flat major. Some cellists including Sol Gabetta regrettably leave out the deep B-flat. The great Peter Wiley tuned his C-string down before the third movement started, resulting in some fancy fingerings during the G-flat major section and an incorrect vibrating length for the bottom string during that section. Schumann knew what he was doing.
Why hasn't anyone else noticed the cellist's wedding ring?... He's got it on his bow arm for the first close-up, then on his left hand for the end solo (all while doing that cello-douchbag-I'm-so-expressive-face)... don't try to tell me tuning down to B-flat cost him the position of his wedding ring. Beyond that, the violinist is amazing - and a team player, which is her most admirable quality. And the violist is even more so. Vote for Obama.
Wonderful piece but a horrible rendition. Their attempt at romantic interpretations is nothing but random fluctuation of tempo, and they disregard the specific and nuanced color the composer has set. What a waste of 6 minutes.
I’d be interested to know where you got your music degree and what instrument you play. Unless you are a real classical musician and have studied this work as either a pianist or a string player, your opinion is worthless.
That moment at 3:32 when the viola comes in with the melody - absolutely brilliant
This movement is simply pure bliss for me. Tear-jerkingly melancholy, with a hint of happiness and peacefulness. *puts on repeat*
kylelandry and so is your take on this movement. Absolutely stunning.
Well worded!
The cello sound is tremendous..
비올라ㅜㅠㅜ소리 너무 좋아ㅜㅜㅜ
To me the most perfect piece of music ever. Listen to the entire work for the best effect.

"If music be the food of love, play on!" Twelfth Night Act 1, scene 1. Beautiful to watch, glorious to listen! Herzlichen Dank, 34schnittke!
I was deeply moved by this music.💓
정말 아름다운 곡이다. 눈물이 나올정도로 아름답다.

I just love looking at their facial expressions
진정 아름다운 선율...
eines der schönsten Quartett Stücke, vom Fauré Quartett unverglich gut gespielt
素晴らしい旋律…
バイオリン弾けるようになって演奏できたら、どれだけ気持ちが良いことか…

molto bello e molto bravi, grazie
Absolutely delightful...
Gustav Mahler plays the viola!
Beautiful music. This one to my taste may be the most inspired interpretation of the Andante Cantabile. Please go on Fauré Quartet.
The greate music in the greate performance
Just feel it
너무 아름다워요 ^^*
Amazing!!!
Fantásticos
Doesn'it seems a little bit an inspiration for Siegfried's Idyll?
Not crazy about the last 40 seconds, but the rest is beautiful.

Why did the cellist change his wedding ring from the right hand to the left hand in the recapitulation?
Too rapid tempo.. Not Aadante..
Cellist sounds great, but looks as if he needs Ex-Lax.

mihret melaku it’s just a matter of personal taste, they can interpret the piece the way they want to.

Awful playing
