Raven actually helped me through my childhood. It was rough growing up but I always knew on Monday I could turn on wcw nitro and escape. Thank you Raven my favorite wrestler of all time
i don't know who won on this? the ugly girl got to sleep with raven, so she got what she wanted and thought to herself that's she's prettier then what she really is. but raven had to do the deed with a ugly girl, which is gross. and risked catching something just to have a story to tell.
I use to draw him from the WCW/NWO revenge promos on the magazine, he was always my favorite wrestler until Steve Austin blew up in WWE in 1998 which both wrestlers gave me confidence during middle school and high school.
I was there at that meet and greet, Raven is a nice, humble guy, he wanted to redo the pic i took with him until we got it right, major props to him thanks Raven!
I got my picture taken with Teddy along last year at the Harley Race Wrestling Arena in Missouri. He was the same way. He wanted to make sure I was happy with what I had paid for.
It's obvious he's made a big effort to humble himself. These days when someone interviewing him says something like, 'You were one of the most iconic characters from the 90's.' he usually responds with a sincere 'Thank you.' rather than just letting it go by unacknowledged.
Meeting Raven is one of the greatest experiences in my life. He gave me great advice and also motivated me to get back into wrestling. I hope to one day get to learn more from him. Always a great wrestling mind
I came close to meeting him because my mom worked with Chris Kanyon's mom's and when he passed on I found out that Raven was coming to his funeral but he got there after I left. He was stuck in traffic but I wish I could of waited a while longer so that I could of met him (even though it was a sad occasion).
When Benoit crossfaced Raven and he passed out, instead of submitting, it made me think that he was the coolest heel of his generation. I loved that rivalry.
I was pretty nervous about this one, because I respect what he has done in the business and I wanted to make sure the interview was worth his time. Thank you for checking it out!
One of the greatest transformations in wrestling of all time Johnnie Polo & Body to Raven. Great interview I could listen to Scott Levy talk wrestling for hours
Raven is such a smart guy, not just in the business but overall. He's probably the most thoughtful of any wrestler I've seen interviewed in a long time. Quite possibly ever.
Excellent interview. Subscribed for you. ECW is/was and always will be my favorite promotion. I got to be friends with some of their boys in the late 90's. Raven wasn't one of them, I only met him once through others after a show in Poughkeepsie NY. But he was one of the biggest shocks to me real life vs's character (biggest shock Meng/Haku). The man was truly smart in the business aspect of it not just the ring. I always thought once he was done in ring he should start his own promotion. Honestly I think he'd be an amazing booker because of his mind for the business.
Raven was a great character. Forgot how sophisticated Raven was, wanting to get beat by his opponent due to issues. And Bobby Heenan really pointing it out for the audience to drive it home too
I would love to see Raven work backstage in AEW. He has one of the best minds in the business and he could be a huge benefit to the younger talent especially in regards to in-ring psychology and gimmick work. Hell he's still a great talker so they could use him as a manager or even as an one-off appearance to help sell a FTW fued or a deathmatch type match.
I like your interview, Scott is always fascinating, I just have a suggestion: I thought the talk was more interesting towards the end when you covered stuff like internet comments and music. Maybe rather than trying to ask wrestling questions like everyone else, you could swerve and build your own brand where you talk to wrestlers about their own interests. Like at the end where Scott mentions his other interests, that would be a great opportunity to get off the beaten track.
like Bully/Bubba (Buh Buh) Ray (Dudley) who, I think, is a KI$$ (Army) fan, not a K-Pop fan (the BTS Army); Stevie Richards (who is usually on a Vince Russo (The Brand) podcast, like to promote his Home Gym (fitness) ideas.
Sting stole the Crow character, Raven just thought that "raven" sounded cool and used it and made it his own. I never thought sting was ever good at creating a identity. All he did was watch what other people did and copy. He's like "oh wow the road warriors are using face paint, i will too". "Oh wow, everyone is using colorful outfits, i will too", "Everyone is wearing black, i will too". "The joker is cool, i'll take that gimmick". lame. Sting the real person is a nice dude, but him coming up with his own thing, very uncreative.
@@samorozco2002 Not true. Where did you come up with this? Lol The Crow gimmick was Scott Hall’s idea for Sting. Sting just rolled with it at the time and it got extremely over. The Surfer Sting character originated with him partnering with Warrior at the time as The Blade Runners. Not every gimmick he had was a rip-off of something. If that’s the case, you could say that about the many wrestlers trying to emulate Flair back in the 80s to mid 90s.
@@OmegaRedEX yeah thats my point. Scott hall had to give him the idea because he cant make something up on his own. Sting could of done something crow like, but to actually just steal everything from that including the way he paints his face in the exact same way, thats cheap. Yeah he got over, because the movie was popular, but he was already over, he was just trying to stay relevant because the old look was out of style. As for everyone copying flair...thats true, and I do think of all the cheap knock off and how none of them came close to being in flairs league. Not Greg the hammer valentine, Bobby rood, not Terry Taylor, ect. Sting is a great wrestler, but coming up with fresh ideas for his gimmick is not his thing.
@@samorozco2002 Exactly. And Flair himself got his gimmick from Buddy Rogers. 12:14 What he says here about how most comments on the internet come from such a small group of people seems so true. Even though more and more people are using the internet, I bet most of them are still "lurkers".
Raven and (Tommy) Dreamer were Paul Heyman's/E. Dangerously's muses; Quentin Tarantino ("Pulp Fiction") had Uma Thurman; Tim Burton had Johnny Depp. It was a shame that the WWE did run with Raven's ideas, like a "Se7en" (film storyline), for Sunday Night Heat. Great Questions by Denise on AEW's main (hardcore / "indy darlings") fan base vs. the casual fans. (It was interesting that AEW was selling Hot Topic merch, before AEW was ever put on the air, with Dynamite & later Rampage; like a 1990's underground rave party, from a warehouse: via, word of mouth only.) Over Saturated (NWA (Shockwave), MLW (Fusion), (TNA) Impact Wrestling, ROH (hiatus), NJPW (Japan or California), AAA (Mexico), AEW, WWE/WWF): Yes vs. "It's a Great time to be a Pro Wrestling fan (now; there are so many options (to choose from)." "The bookers that listen to the internet (some Twitter trolls: a small audience).." "Everybody's Life is on Display. It's a Trap ! I barely Post." - Raven "It really can affect your mental state." - Denise S. (Yup; So True.) "I have too many interests to occupy my time. It's time to move on." - Raven Raven is great on his psychological mind games, in the promos that he gave, against a Tommy Dreamer; like a Jake "the Snake" Roberts (with his ex-wife Cheryl) vs. "Ravishing" Rick Rude (R.I.P.).
omg I was wondering what caused a surge in comments/views? I saw that he was at AEW but I didn't think people would end up finding my interview because of it lol but glad you all did!
I agree with everything he said except the Internet audience being a small minority. That was true in 1999 when the Internet was only in 30% of US homes, but the online audience has grown exponentially since then while the casual audience is now pretty much non-existent. Always cater to your hardcore fans first, because they DO watch every week and they DO support you financially. And they WILL eventually leave if they've finally had enough, as evidenced by Raw drawing some of its lowest ratings ever recently. Going whole hog to draw in casuals is building your foundation on quicksand. Casual fans by nature are fickle and won't be around forever.
I don't feel it smart to completely disregard internet fans because we're a "small" percentage. We're really not that small. Most new WWE RUclips videos get at least 100,000 views, with several averaging around the 400,000 mark. Sure, not everybody thumbs up or down on the videos, and even less people comment, but it's still a sizable portion of the audience. It's like voting polls. Due to the law of large numbers, the larger your sample size the more accurate representation of the overall national opinion, but that doesn't mean you completely disregard your sample of a thousand people commenting. Hell, you could poll a high school classroom on the latest Wrestlemania and that would still be valuable data!
The Otis Mandy rose recent post Wrestlemania upload has 2.3 million views and like 2,400 comments. That’s nothing lol most people that view it or like it or just casuals passing by to watch if cause they’re fans but they won’t go crazy commenting and ranting in the sections. That is the small portion right there.
There’s nothing on worth watching with wrestling it’s a bunch of choreographed spot fest matches. The WWE micromanaged product. And who knows what the fuck AEW is doing.
I have been watching old old ecw from 1996/97 raven was the best dude. Thanks Denise

Going whole hog to draw in casuals is building your foundation on quicksand. Casual fans by nature are fickle and won't be around forever.
why did raven stop pumping iron
i like to listen to raven.
if he would use some black haircolor,he would not really look older as he did as a wrestler
Iroh??
You can always rely on Raven to talk in great length.
Raven is still too cool
If a dude was interviewing he would answer no to everything and it would be a 2 minute vid
He forgot sign guy
It is small.
Quote the raven NEVERMORE
This guys 17 points off from the highest i.q recorded
He nailed it... Intergender matches have a bad look.
AEW
Wow he's so old
He is only 56. If he dyes his hair he looks much younger. But dying it is a pain and it has chemicals.
Desperate to have intergender matches!
There’s nothing on worth watching with wrestling it’s a bunch of choreographed spot fest matches. The WWE micromanaged product. And who knows what the fuck AEW is doing.
Raven looks like he's just done with everything.
Taylor swift?? 🤮🤮🤮
