I experienced 2 hurricanes during the 12 years of my life in JA. The first hurricane I experienced was when I was about 5 years old and one when I was about 10. Hurricanes did not come with such frequency. The hurricane that happened when I was 5 years old was very bad. It was the worst hurricane I'd ever experienced. During the night, the electricity went off and our grandmother lit her kerosene lamp. My brother, sister, and I sat at the edge of our grandmother's bed, we sang songs and prayed until we fell asleep. In the morning when the storm had subsided, our dad took the boards off the door and windows. We went outside and saw the place, it looked like we had just exited Noah's ark. I hope that you will stay safe, stay inside and don't try to be a hurricane hunter at this time.
Hell no I’m not hurricane hunting anything
😂😂🇯🇲@@PoJoTheBackPacker
You have a super awesome personality brother. I'm always pumped to watch your videos .

Pojo you are here in the weather with us😂😂😂😂😂 Stay Safe My Friend Please stay alert

We gunna ride this out together i hope everyone stays as safe as we can be 👌🏽💪🏽🇯🇲🇯🇲
Charge your battery pack. I was in the category 3 Gilbert and the power supply was huge problem. Get some plastic bags to cover your equipment-computer etc. Jamaicans interestingly don't worry much about hurricanes. The priminister has to beg them to consider it serious. As it gets. closer most are being prepared.
You’re exactly right everyone i was talking to was mad chill about it im like yo lol. But they were also taking the right precautions just as we would in Florida. Funny you mention the plastic bags i brought some from home with me just for this reason lol appreciate the support👌🏽
They boiled the corn with coconut milk and other spices real delicious when it’s done,You can get it where breakfast are sold.
We love you bro. Happy to c u in the city of my birth. Jamaican here living in Florida. Nuff respek my yute .

I'm so impressed that you returned to my island - so soon! This means more cool videos for me to binge watch! Thx!
That Julie mango could have been a little bit more ripe though.
Excellent and respectful content
To me respect is the most important thing. I might be American but i got some respekkkk 😂
Yo when your in Jamaica you have to pronounce Plantain like Mountain so Plantin
Copy that i won’t mess it up again!

It was so good we got to find some when i get home!!
It wasn't soup. It was plantain Porridge.
Glad to see you back in JA. Love the vibe from Uptown. Considering you got to Jamaica purely by accident the first time, it's nice to see you are back there. Love the vlogs. Stay safe and hope the Hurricane will pass by JA or will just become a rainstorm.
Yea i really hope it’s just rain!
That greens is called Callaloo. Another favorite in Jamaica for breakfast "callaloo and salt fish with dumplings and bananas" 😂
So callaloo is not like collard greens? Interesting

Love you
I love you too I’m surprised you wrote this long message 😂
This will be the ride of your life, be safe.
Yo i swear i want everyone to be safe !
I was in Jamaica for Beryl as well! I was in Ochi at the riu. It wasnt as bad as i thought it would be. I experienced hurricane irma in 2017 in Barbuda which was a 5+++ that was terrifying
Man I miss Jamaica! Great video bro!
Appreciate you Chris! Yea Jamaica really is a vibe
New subscriber here. I enjoyed your vlog of Jamaica the land of my birth.
I enjoy your country it’s a nice place
The plantain porridge is made from green plantains not the ripe ones, so it is sweetened with condensed milk, brown sugar. You can try the green banana porridge, or a mixture of plantain & banana. My favourite is hominy corn porridge. There are numerous varities of mangoes, my favourite is the east indian mango. Next time if you can try star apple and june plums, I absolutely enjoy those. There's also rose apple fruit, which are not as common as before.
Wow. For your sake and ours I pray this hurricane will pass us by very fast. I was very young during Gilbert but I remember the destruction of it and then Ivan that past to the south of us now Beryl. Hurricanes are not to be played with. Keep safe make sure you have enough water and food for a few days. Traveling with not be happening if the damage is really bad. There is a all island curfew tomorrow too from 6am to 6pm.
Yes I’m aware of the curfew
Po Jo Bro....🎉 Brother WoW ! AWESOME AMAZING you are back in Jamaica 🇯🇲. I concluded your ❤ 4 Jamaica 🇯🇲 and my Fellow Jamaicans....be safe aswell as all my fellow Jamaicans and the Caribbean Communities of Countries. God bless Jamaica 🇯🇲 🙏
Yes i hope your family is safe
Grate or blend Green Plantain
Cook in pot
To thicken use a little flour
Sweetened with Condensed Milk
Vanilla Nutmeg
Thank you for this!
We use cinnamon leaves/cinnamon stick, along with freshly squeezed coconut milk, condensed milk, nutmeg, vanilla, and a pinch of salt. It is not necessary to use flour as a thickening agent because the Plantain gets thick when it is boiled. Very delicious!
@@mdl9096 okay this explains all the flavor perfectly!! Thank you for this
You shouldn’t let people know where you’re staying in real time. Stay safe! 🙏🏾
This is true
Pojo the Chinese restaurant Jade Garden is in the same Sovereign centre you went to Digicel

You can get that porridge in any Jamaican shop that sell breakfast even in the United States.
I will be on the lookout
Unno see Pojo face when him taste the plantain porridge. Lol. Banana porridge good to but my favourite is rice porridge.
Nah that hit different that’s my morning routine now
The plantain porridge is my favorite. I make it frequently. I go to that same Brooklyn supermarket when I come back to the island. Buy some of the Ginger Bulla in there ( The Bread and Basket brand) . It is really good.
Okay i will try this bulla after the storm everyone’s been telling me about it!

They use green plantains for the porridge it’s easy with coconut milk and condensed milk milk with vanilla and nutmeg
The porridge is so good
Please stay safe. I am praying that Jamaica will be spared severe damage. I wish you had gotten more food and water at least for 3 to 4 days because in 1988 after the hurricane was extremely difficult. I hope the hostel will prove structurally sound to weather the storm. Geh Pojo piece a land please and thanks.
Be safe fam and hope yuh get whole heap a tin food.
😂 i appreciate you my brother
I enjoy the natural approach you took to exploring there's so much more than meets the usual tourist eyes.
Also you're not in Kingston there you're in St. Andrew a different parish all together. I'm not sure who told you it's 'uptown' and I suppose that's their opinion but it's more on a suburban middle class level in my own opinion to find the upper class you would have to venture further into St. Andrew hills towards the barbican and Jacks Hill side of things for example.
Stay safe and continue to enjoy your visit. Blessings and Love ❤
