- Dressage 101 with Steffen Peters
Dressage (a French term meaning "training") Is a path and destination of competitive horse training, with competitions held at all levels from amateur to the Olympics. Its fundamental purpose is to develop, through standardized progressive training methods, a horse's natural athletic ability and willingness to perform, thereby maximizing its potential as a riding horse. At the peak of a dressage horse's gymnastic development, it can smoothly respond to a skilled rider's minimal aids by performing the requested movement while remaining relaxed and appearing effortless. Dressage is occasionally referred to as "Horse Ballet" (cf. nl:Dressuur). Although the discipline has its roots in classical Greek horsemanship, mainly through the influence of Xenophon, dressage was first recognized as an important equestrian pursuit during the Renaissance in Western Europe. The great European riding masters of that period developed a sequential training system that has changed little since then and classical dressage is still considered the basis of trained modern dressage.
Thank YOU, Steffen!!!!!!👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Ravel is my favourite dressage horse. So beautiful!!
That was the cutest dressage horse ever :D What a character!
Steffen is such a cute person! You can see he really loves his mount, and Ravel really loves his rider :) xx
Beautiful riding :)
Notice how when Ravel wants to play, Steffen sorta nudges him and gives him a pat like, "Sorry buddy, can't play right now!" and Ravel actually listens! A lot of riders would just smack there horse on the nose and horse would be ruled by fear instead of kindness. You can tell that Steffen is a true horseman just by that little action, I'd like to see what Edward Gal would do with that!
Amazing horse!
The one dislike on this video is Anky.
I WOULD LOVE TO MEET HIM!!!
Steffen Peters?!?! he is AMAZING!!!!!!!
Wow, GORGEOUS horse!! Dressage looks fun, but I'd be SOO bad at it! First off, I'm SUPER bad at sitting trot, *laughs*...
Its to get the horse lighter in the contact. You can start using it in 3rd level but it used to be where you had to use it in the higher levels but now its optional :)
