- I played chess against GM Jon-Ludvig Hammer whilst visiting the Good Knight chess bar in Oslo, Norway :) Even though his rating now is 2600, he has had a rating of 2705 in the past making him then a super grandmaster - hope you enjoy the video :)

Hamer may be the #5 rated in Norway, but he's easily the #1 most entertaining.
I still think Magnus is more entertaining. I'll Hammer #2 🙂🙂
He was world number 40!
2 Legit
2 Legit To Quit
Yeah, Yeah...
@@baldheadkiddrunk magnus #1, otherwise he only #2 to hamer
MAGNUS????
"That is the classic way of beating you"
What a shot.
You nailed it. The 💎 of the encounter. Anna, make that exchange into a super short.
Hammer: In what universe am I not winning this?
Anna: In this universe.
Great line. The title had Me believing in a competition where Anna "drew" Hammer's lot.
I wonder what Botez "paid" for the prep? He wasn't doing much development. She actually lost on time
@@JakeLayman-md4fw He's a Hammer, he bangs people! A. Botez
Karma win !
I mean, he did win though.
I love the joy on Anna's face when she asks if he wants to try the cow. And then the disappointment...💔
i missed this, thanks for pointing it out, so good
What's the cow?
@@a1smith An opening move that Anna Cramling invented
ZGood, you can tell Hammeris arrogant
Hammer is my number 1 favorite player I have watched you play!!
Has anyone ever not finish an Anna Cramling video without a smile on their face?
Why don't you go marry her?
@@jellyfishbrained Would you be my best man?
@@jellyfishbrained I would
@andymxrtineo ohhhhhhhhhhhh😂
@@jellyfishbrained How to greet a positive comment with a snarky one 101
How do you manage to stay so cheery? I don’t even play chess, but I watch your videos just to be inspired by your cheerfulness.
if you love the game, you don't mind to lose against a better opponent. You're losing for the beauty of the game.
Ngl, Anna is one of the reasons I started playing and loving chess. I got interested through an influencer event, then came across Anna on YT and now I'm addicted.
She is such a rar tös!
HYPERS @@SirVampyr
Thats why i like Lennox Lewis, while i am not even fan of boxing. He plays chess for fun, and after his chess user name came out many good players and GM's wanted to play with him, and he accepted. And as result his rating dropped massively, as he did lose every single game of course
Now that is how you trash talk your opponent into wasting time. Nicely done Hammer. Great fun to watch and well done Anna. 🥳
I feel obliged to point out, this was really fun to watch. GG Anna!
Also, great sportsmanship of Hammer.
Anna was about to fall out of her seat from excitement lol
And her leaning over and asking “can we please continue playing?” killed me.
Loved seeing these 2 cool dudes in a chess battle!
This leaning over reminds me of my young daughters who got everything from me with exactly that move!!!
@@geraldb.2245 Exactly! I wanted to compare her to a child wanting something or wanting to play more, but didn’t want to be rude hah
@@ShoppingEagle13 I don't mean that in a bad way. Look at her, she's lucky enough to be blessed with real beauty. Women like her should always keep something girly. The fact that she's probably smarter than 95% of all women and 99% of all men makes it all the better.
please more with him, he seems pretty cool
The happiness when she realises it's a draw 😂
Yeah a draw. After her clock is 0.00
@@sitbone3 He agreed to continue so your point is moot.
...and then giggles.
@@sitbone3 I think we all picked up on that, we're just delighted that she's happy and managed a draw against such a strong GM (despite the clock running out) 🙄
@@boffo63 "Under duress" he correctly claimed, bowing to her begging to continue to play 'an interesting (lost) position.' He's a good family friend of the Cramling-Bellon family i believe.
Anna, your time loss is only because of him playing the king unconventionally at the beginning, and trolling you for time. Your continuation draw is a sweet achievement.
It’s not a troll. I was prepping my lines in the Kingsindian Smirnov today and the engine randomly suggested the same move in a different opening. It didn’t make too much sense for me, but I saw that it was played by several strong players.
The game is the game and she lost if we’re being honest 😂
It is a friendly game and I'm sure both sides enjoyed conversation about this rare line of the game more than flagging
I wonder how it would have played out if time was never an issue? Actually, I don't. There's a reason he is a GM with a rating of 2600, she got lucky with a draw.
it wasn't a draw, it's not that difficult if you have time obviously different if both players had time, hence BS
"Do you want to play the cow?"
"NO!"
😂
Impressive! You were one pawn move away to be checkmated…. You fought, survived and draw. Great game.
He won by time though
@@aninhabitantofcarcosa9345 he talked her into losing time, she talked him into ignoring the time.
That guy is obviously smart as hell, and it’s amazing how good he is at seeming disarming and very ‘casual’ while at one point literally using words and suggestion to “maneuver” Anna into doing something that he wanted on the board. I mean it in a positive way and in the context of the game, super interesting watch and showed the strengths of both players.
Hamer was right about what he said in the beginning, he is a Teddy Bear (the only teddy Bear I know of who's a GM, btw). Anna's draw has an asterisk by it, but clearly all the tournament play she's done lately has elevated her game. She has the talent, dedication and competitive spirit to become world class before long.
This draw was pure skill.
When Anna's time was at 0:00 she found the stockfish best move, requesting to continue. It's a brilliant move, playing on the pride of the opponent who believes it's impossible for him to not win the game. Excellent play.
@@firstlast8085was pure skill but he used the time better, she lost by time actually
I like that Hammer guy, he seems straight talking and nice
Is that a diplomatic way to say "slimeball and nasty"?
He also has a wicked sense of humor, if you've seen much of him doing commentary. Really funny with frank and candid honesty.
@@ivan_pozdeev_uNo its not any diplomatic way of saying. He meant precisely what he said.
That was very sweet of him? Great to see the fairplay and peaceful enjoynment of good players like you.
I love the genuineness of your face when you ask the question at 0:56 !!! And the reaction to his answer!! 😂
That was such a lot of fun!
Well done Anna and well done Hammer for being such a good sport.
Kudos for Hammer for his great sportsmanship.
Anna continuously giggling near the end of the game was the best part. 😂
I just love the utter enthusiasm and pure joy that Anna exudes in this draw. Always makes my day to watch her play.
Anna that was nice! Hammer is such a cool guy. More of Hammer, please.
Your glee over the last 2 mins when you realize it’s a draw … you are like shaking with excitement … it’s so cute
Love to see Wirtual and Anna hanging out- I never wouldve expected this, but I love both of their content, and it's amazing that they found each other through chess. This game was also amazing, and Hammer was certainly trolling in the beginning, but what an incredible draw nonetheless. Congrats, and keep making these videos- I love them all!
Cheer up Hammer, the younglings might be coming for you but you will always be the guy that en passant mated Magnus in our hearts forever ❤
Damn whaa? Is this game on youtube?
Wouldn’t mind checking out that game.
That was awesome. Hammer is a really good sport. Anna was so happy with the draw
Beautiful game, Anna! Thanks to Hammer for being such a good guy!
Serves him right for explaining his strategy _on your time_
She was asking though. Her fault
Witnessing this game during the livestream on Twitch was awesome! Congrats!❤
Good sportsmanship on both sides. Anna good draw.😮😊
She is joyful about the draw because she has a LOT of respect for Hammer!!!
This was so fun!
Can you please do a video breaking this down like your tournament videos? I would love to hear you explain what you saw, the strategies, and what you were thinking, especially in the moment just as your time was running out.
your giggling of excitement was so fun to watch. very wholesome.
Utrolig gøy å se på - stor underholdning; takk til dere begge!
He won on time. Hammer time!
Amazing game! Everything other than the d5 pawn is helping you in the position and I love that (the c pawns will help in a checkmate if king moves to a6)
Best thing ever is Hammer commentating tournament games from Anna or even the Botezsisters. He is sarcastic, evil, funny, selfaware and knows chess
your joy when you drew is the best ever. you can really see how much you enjoyed it :D (sorry dålig engelska) men du är så genuine älskart :D
That was an amazing match, very entertaining! And even though I stopped the video after every move, I could not anticipate a single response. I felt like Barbie watching Einstein and Oppenheimer discussing nuclear fusion. So out of my league! I did learn some trolling techniques and that you should never listen to your opponent.
Anna brings a lot of joy and excitement that causes you to enjoy more watching the game!
She is really a sweetheart!
This video is so very cute! I love it! God bless GM Hammer for allowing the game to continue and allowing the final few minutes of Anna's video here to bear extra entertainment for all viewers! Both of these chess players are class acts!! ✨️🙂🥳
killing me softly.
She's SO SO happy!!!
Hammer is such a nice guy. :)
Hammer is always hilarious. Great video!
Hammer is such an underrated entertainer. I wish he streamed more.
Funny how no one's mentioning Wirtual sitting casually in the background. Great game Anna!
Your smile and manner make me so happy sometimes, Anna. Keep up the good work, and congratulations on that draw. 😊
The last time I saw chess players suffer through a game like Hammer was Nepo vs Ding. He looked like he was being tortured LOL!!!
I really like that they also teach so players get better
get anna!! I discovered your channel last week cus I started playing chess again and I love your content sm, love the stuff with your parents :) keep it up im rooting for u!
How chivalrous of Hammer to put himself in a position of draw, and then tell her about it in the most subtle way. You sir, are a gentleman and a scholar!
Fun game as always to watch. Enjoyed the back and forth.
Hammer understood the assignment and gave good live commentary making it very easy to understand the gm thought process
pretending to use the clock is jokes
nice person and friendly guy. im glad to sea this play
I would say a draw was well deserved, especially after some time was wasted earlier in the game
How can you not love Hammer. What a character.
Anna: so you're going to beat me on time?
Hammer: it *is* the classic way of beating you
The Princess of Chess
That is hilarious that he said the classic way to beat you is on time! 🤣
Great sportsmanship from Hammer. Great game. I would like to see Hammer more often. His comments are onpoint and he makes a very goos teacher as for seeing and describing a position...I'm a fan
What a fun interaction
He said in norwegian, that the worst part was that I thought about it earlier, but then after I forgot about it.
"Do you want to try cow" that was sweet 😁
Good job getting him to continue. I would have fell for your charm too.
This girl has wonderful personality. Love the laugh!
Right, it's not easy to find people like Anna these days.
Awesome game had me smiling the whole time.
"You have nothing. Your pawn structure blocks everything. Your bishop is ... " - Jon-Ludvig Hammer
Even though you lost on time, it's so much fun watching you get so damned excited for the draw later. Just laughing watching you bounce on the chair for 5 minutes. :-) You have literally inspired me to take up chess again and finding out how much I've forgotten.
is this Wirtual behind Anna?
That's a gentleman. At his level, holding back the competitive drive is hard. He had no reason at all to let Miss Anna continue, but he did. What a good guy. But I must admit. It would be so very hard to say no to Miss Anna.
Two of the most likable and entertaining people in the chess world. Scandinavia has been good to us.
Love how you both kept hitting the clock after time expired 😂😂😂 Congrats Anna 👍🖖🏽
Noticed it too, funny how brain works
I assume it's meant to signify the end of a move.
@@kewGarden No, it's a habitual autonomic response.
@@JimBalter You looked up Wikipedia? The online encyclopedia won't tell you why they never stopped doing it. People realize when they're acting on instincts after a few times.
Love your persuasive charm.
😊Hammer is an absolute gentleman! Lovely game by both
Anna ať 7:15: Good luck!
(entering battle mode which is even more visible at 7:30)
What a difference from her usual way of play. And I personally like this Anna a lot.
Good draw Anna. You made him speak Norwiegen. Love your videos. Keep them coming.
7:07: Anna looks so sweet in any scenario but when with 10 secs on a clock? She looks fierce! Powerful! Thats a chess Master right there!
It was funny to see that you continued at some time pressing the clock button, while the clock was stopped long time before, probably due to nervousness :)
Great game btw !
Just out of habit I guess. It's important to maintain muscle memory when you're into an activity with tight time constraints.
WOW! Anna that was the most fun match I've seen this year. You are so charming. I love the strategic conversation between you and Hammer. Chess Princess.
Love these two
Rh7+ Ka6 Bb5+ Ka5 Ra7# drawing against a GM or super GM is like a win for the underdog.
"I misplayed it. Normally it would be very good." (Hammer, and also me in all of the 10 chess games I played and lost in my life)
That was an interesting game Anna! Congrats on drawing a GM!
Guys even if she lose on time but by this rating difference he still didn’t win after he agrees to continue, it’s a social game after all with talking etc. that interferes with time as well, not just silently playing serious in a tournament, and they used the exact same time control despite their rating difference. don’t spread so much negativity. They’re both good chess players.
Drew the guy that mated Magnus Carlsen with en passant.
No one can take that away
Hammer: the "classic" way to win is beating Anna on time. EVERYBODY IN THE WORLD KNOWS THIS.
Hammer 20% teddy bear, 100% gentleman.
😂😂😂😂never seen Anna so happy and excited that she was jumping on the chair 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻😅😅😅😅
Wow! Anna manipulated time using her secret powers to extend the game and effectively win. Amazing!
2 Excellent players and an excellent play. Lovely
Thanks for making me smile. Well done!
"Do you want to try the cow?
"....NO."
That smile and the pure excitement got me jumping Just as much 😂😂😂, great game
At the beginning Hammer's clock kept going back up...not down.....
Una partida deliciosa de ver, sobre todo por la simpatía de ambos contrincantes. Estas pequeñas cosas son las que siembran afición en el ajedrez. Doy fe de ello.
Saludos!
THAT was one hell of a fine chess game!
This was just fantastic, so enjoyable to watch! 🎉
I was in this stream. My favorite moment was when Hammer trolls Anna about her hobbies, and Anna says “I like to watch Netflix okay? Leave me alone!” Anna, never lose that energy please!
Congratulations! Imagine how many people feel that way when they play you!
