    If you get water up your noise do not plug your noise it will slow you down, breath out your noise well turning. I know it is unpleasant in the start but after a wile you will notes an improvement.

    don't forget to count your strokes after the flags, so that you don't hit the wall or turn too early...

    I practiced for many years (over 10) with swimming lessons, but for some reason they didn't really bother teaching us butterfly so much, and backstroke tumble turns weren't focused on as much either, but more than butterfly mind you.
    I'm a proficient swimmer and can successfully perform tumble turns when swimming front crawl with ease. I normally swim 130 lengths in a 25M pool (2 miles) continuously and with turns, my best in about 55 minutes, but normally an hour or a bit less. I don't swim in competitions. I'm not fast enough, and have asthma which I think impedes me. Anyway, I tried recently doing some backstroke, which I'm perfectly capable at, but when I turn over near the wall to perform a tumble turn, I'm useless at it. I can't understand why I can do it with front crawl, but not with backstroke. There was a time when I could do it with backstroke, I just think I've forgotten how with lack of use. Doing backstroke and turning on my front before doing the turn somehow throws my rhythm off, thus screwing up the turn. Very frustrating I find.

    Try looking at your position on the wall mid turn. Place your feet shoulder width apart pointing to the surface. Then ensure your body is not angled slightly towards the bottom of the pool as this causes you to go deeper than you need to, making it difficult to come back to the surface. I recommend starting with a couple of butterfly kicks to give you some power off the wall and then when you are ready to go to the surface carry out the backstroke leg kick. I hope this helps, Simply Swim

    Try blowing out of your nose to prevent it hurting so much. It helps! It takes a bit of practise but you will master it soon.

    WRONG......
    No 1. At 28 seconds her head shouldn't be right up, looking at the sky.
    No 2. At 39 seconds her feet are to low on the wall, this will increase drag and destroy your streamline meaning you have to work harder.
    No.3 At 58 seconds when she pull her first arm out of the water it is flat, her shoulder has to be up pointing at the sky, for better rotation.

    Whenever I do the flip turn, I always find it hard swim back to the surface without forcing my body to come up. How do I turn and natually kick to the surface without pushing myself to do so?

    • @PeLuRu4586
      @PeLuRu4586 7 лет назад +1

      musicrase66 its either you didnt give enough strength when pushing off against the wall or you went way too deep. Try going shallow at first. Once your body is fliped and the back is facing the pool and the feet is planted on the wall. Imagine your target point and shoot out. Dont do anything just yet after the kick. And then slowly exert some dolphin kick on the back and once you feel like youre about to reach the surface (dont wait until youre totally on the surface though), start switching back to the backstroke kick.

      Well, you might be going too deep where the water pressure is very forceful so do not go too deep and if that’s hard then try aim up instead of down. You probably are just not that skilled and that’s normal and absolutely okay. Just train your breath so you can stay deep under water longer and wait till you reach the surface. You should be blowing nose bubbles

      aarshaar thats why when you do backstroke, you have to assume other people following the rule haha. Good and considerate people will know you need a turn after they have joined in the lane for a quick while and they will leave a space for you to turn.
