Truthfulness isn't really considered a virtue in itself, since it's virtuous to lie about some things, and tell the truth about others.
The Golden Mean for truthfulness is between being so truthful as to be rude, and being untruthful in a way that deceives others to their detriment.

I can't help but wonder if Shakespeare didn't model Polonius after Aristotle

Think about it. I compare to biblical knowledge as well. I don't really see sense in Plato but perhaps I should scrutinize that one more closely.

I never realised how vain, misogynistic and boring Plato and Aristotle were, I' trying so hard to listen to their views but urgh! I have to stop myself from throwing up! :)

+Maggie Adams How Obsequious, Irascibile, and emptily vulgar of you. You understand that in philosophy when they reference "man" they are referring to the human individual as representing the species, without reference to sex or gender.

+blueeyedbull67 Not true. That's only after applying our politically correct adaptation to make the concepts more palatable for today's society. These guys were very aristocratic. The best kind of life, the most moral, ethical life could only completely be enjoyed by the Greek, Athenian, male, aristocrat. Slaves, women, children, foreigners were largely believed to be incapable.
