MHR Sunbreak - LvL 200 Afflicted Rathian Solo Lance [5'27"82] (Simple Rules)

- I'm really enjoying this rule set. no op dog damage, no trap cheese, just you and the monster. The meta seems also very different for long hunts like this which is kinda refreshing.
so I think I'm done with freestyle until the new title update drops and I'll just make more lvl 200 runs like this. What do you think? Wanna see more like this or do you prefer the freestyle runs?

Nice run! Thanks for showing your build so clearly at the beginning. Also appreciate that your talisman is a realistic meld.
i appreciate that as well! thanks!!
this convinced me to use lance next - thank you for sharing!! this was incredible!
yeeeeesssss!! GG janni. clean run 💯👌
Wow, that was amazing!
Clean run J9! Definitely more enjoyable to watch than freestyle at this point!
thank you Fondesa!!

hmm idk about sub 5 :)
but there is room for improvement
I got a 4:55 in the meantime with a stronger build and better rng
thank you for the motivation
gg
Sheesh Lance runs are pretty good huh
Great job. I personally find while buddies/followers are definitely very overpowered for regular quests, for late anomalies they are fine as their high amount of HP and stagger thresholds can keep up with the hunter despite all the buffs. As long as you're not abusing traps, they fight is still pretty interactive regardless. Of course doing it without them requires a lot more skill/consistency. I was planning on doing a 200 Rathian run myself with lance (with buddies/followers). Any particular reason you used skyward thrust here? Only getting multiple hits on the wings doesn't seem as great as potentially get all hits on the head with anchor rage + pokes and the attack buff that follows. Unless you really wanted to trigger the Wyvern Ride to prevent a later area change I suppose.
yeah the goal was to get the wyvern ride to prevent the zone change because that usually lost quite some time. skyward on the head is a lot harder to land and even if you do most of the time you only get 1 or 2 700 ticks while wings always give you 3 500 ticks.
so a skyward on a flip does usually around 1.7k dmg while the anchor rage punish with AR + poke + LT is around 1.3k. now the question is if you can make up for that 400 dmg with the hits you do while having the buff. and honestly idk
also it looks cool so :)
@@J9_MH Makes sense. So I ended up practicing a bit with it myself with lance. I noticed that there's a fairly consistent way to land the parry as well on the head after the tail flip. You just need to pre-emptively position for it and swing a bit to the side (it will almost always tail whip after the triple fireballs). Got some nice dunks thanks to this. Video is up on my channel now if you care to see it. 3:39 with followers/buddies using anchor rage (barely) instead. It's always nice when there's multiple ways to play a weapon effectively. I suspect Spiral Thrust lance is still very good too like base Rise, it's just hard to use well so most don't bother with it.
Amazing run! I saw that you used a max Element augment on your Lance, did that prove to be a higher DPS increase in comparison to a max Attack augment?
yeah, it's good for a few reasons
1) if the raw hzv ratio is below like 1:3 augmenting element is usually better no matter if you use LT or LT + charged wide sweep as your main damage combo. I used a lot of LT because I felt more comfortable hitting the head consistently resulting in slightly faster times, on rathian both should be pretty much the same in theory tho. only time where you still want to augment raw is if you use shield tackle over guard dash because you don't have access to leaping thrust
2) I use a lot of skyward thrusts on the wings and they have a rather bad raw hzv. Running skyward means also I don't have anchor rage which would benefit from the raw augment
That sharpness at the end gave me anxiety 😅
1:03 HE DELAYED THE COUNTER
nice run,
Do high lvl afflicted monsters for example lvl 200 rathian have more health and are stronger than a lvl 20 afflicted rathian?
yeah lvl 200 has around double the hp of a lvl 20
Is there any reason for not using blue scroll with mail of hellfire? Is the bonus element damage not worth it ?
this was TU3 where we didn't have moh augments :)
but yeah MOH is 5/10/20% element on blue or 15/25/35 raw on red. And usually at lvl 1-2 the raw is still better and only at lvl 3 it's worth playing on blue
@@J9_MH thanks for your quick reply. Another question if you dont mind: is crit eye 7 a bit overkill with bloodlust? Or is it better to make sure that u have 100% affinity all the time ?
@@kamisamagg7895 not sure if I understand your question. but in this case I had crit eye 7 + wex3 + bloodlust which is 90% affinity when I'm not cured and 110%=100% when I am cured. so I overcap by 10% when I'm cured. but if I went like crit eye 6 I have 80%/100%. but usually you spend like a third of the hunt not cured and going down to 80% is a bit of a damage loss. so I like to go 90% before bloodlust if I can. Also with some weapons it can mess with sharpness management if you use like MT. not with valstrax lance tho
@@J9_MH That was exactly what i was asking :D. Again thanks for the explain, i am trying to make my own lance set and due to the weapon tax skills (guard/embolden, offensive guard), it is a bit hard to value which skill to sacrifice for optimization.
no dereligma?
idk, I've seen that most TA runners use mail of hellfire for the high lvl anomalies. I think it's because getting a fast time is more of an AI grind and not dying to random shit let's you complete more runs
