After becoming a parent, I wanted something creative and flexible to do during nap time. I started with a Crafted Threads design bundle, ordered a Cricut from Amazon, and made parent-themed shirts just for fun. Turns out, other parents LOVE custom t-shirts! Selling them at community meet-ups has been an amazing way to connect with others and make some extra money on the side. Highly recommend this setup!
I've done home printer/iron on before at home. It looks really good on white shirts but after the first wash, it looks like its ready to become a house cleaning cloth. So, I recommend this only for one offs such as birthdays, memorials, etc. Something that you will only use one-time.
What was the quality of the transfer paper, ink, and material of shirts you used? Did you hit them with wax treatment after the initial design transfer? And turn the shirts inside out when washing and drying?
What if you hand wash it then let it dry? Will it be wearable for everyday ?😶 🤔 And I hope you or someone responds cuz my friend and I gonna make some matching t-shirts and wear them on Halloween 🤪
I love your determination. Just want to help out with the cutting. You can buy a cricut machine and it will cut the exact shape out for you in no time. Hope that helps you love🤗
As a broke college student with a creative streak, I decided to start a simple t-shirt business. Here's my pipeline for success: Crafted Threads for the design bundle, Amazon for a budget-friendly heat press (or borrow one like I did!), and campus events for my marketplace. Now I’m selling witty shirts that are covering my coffee habit AND my textbooks. It’s been a game changer!
@BriizCustoms I think so because I washed the white transfers and it cracked after first wash...the dark transfer a few washes in and still looks great
You can buy weedless inkjet sheets in various sizes as well. So, no longer need to worry about trimming ( but I also used to add a stroke to the edge matching each color shirt so if trimming is off kinda cover that up) .But ironing still itself is more time consuming & not necessarily a perfectly flat pressure on the entire image, so inconsistency will still be an issue. Especially after washing a couple times. Used heat press...atleast until one can get that sweet automatic unit in the video.
What was the paper used for the dark inkjet transfer paper ? Like brand wise ? I’m just starting with my clothing line & I need serious at home pointers 😢🙏🏽
Code-man, y u no use a Cricut? You can layout your design in the design app (or import your PS image), print it out on your friend's inkjet, then the Cricut machine will cut it out perfectly. Lemmy know when you'd like to hire me as a consultant ;D
Get yourself a BROTHER Scan & Cut Craft Machine...SDX225...(Comes w/ a light & heavy stick mat to feed your Image into the mach8ne...I Tape all my 8x10's down..but not close to the image or you will get shadowing ...put a Contour cut around your Image...PRINT...load on your Scan & Cut low Tac Mat...Scan...then it will show the image on the screen after Scanning...you have to put a box around the image you want cut out...Then you'll NEVER use an exacto to spend unnecessary Money Making time hand Cutting...Hope this helps...
$25 plus the computer, plus the subscription for photoshop, plus the ink jet printer, plus cost of the shirts, plus media for heat transfer, not to mention the time spent learning photoshop, yeah, sounds like about a $25 budget. I do like your vids though.
I really want to try this and make an NBA or Linkin Park themed shirt for myself. Approximately how long does this type of printing last when worn regularly?
WoW this is what I used to do in 2004 selling shirts on ebay. Now I use DTF , Sublimation, and Vinyl. Customers don't like paper transfers anymore . Their cheap , They crack, ink bleeds. Its all about DTF now.
Is there any transfer paper that doesn't require cutting for any design? Can it simply be placed on garment and transfered then peeld off? Will it work with inkjet printers? Thanks! =).

It's amazing how many people don't know how to make a how-to video. I mean they waste time telling us things that are common sense. They waste time and things that are nothing to do with the video. And they don't go into detail about some things. Like for example does it bleed after one wash? If so what's the other alternative? Also when you put the design on a t-shirt Can You Feel The Print or it doesn't blend in where you can't even feel the print? And whether you can feel it or not, what are the options to set it up where you can feel the print and where you cannot for the print? What are the pros and cons of making t-shirts with the print that you can feel and a print that you cannot feel? When you buy the t-shirts what your total cost? How much do you make when you sell everything? How much shipping? And there are more examples but you get the point.

Get an EcoTank printer and invest in sublimation ink for lasting t-shirts. 100% cotton will wash out. Works better on 65% poly and up.
If you do that I'll recommend using a white color shirt and 100% polyester, or Dryfit shirt. Works good
heat on vinyl will stay great afther washing
so far the transfer paper i have used is indeed mostly shit quality

Do you have to cut out the design even when using a heat press for sublimation transfers? Seems like a lot of tedious work. Can you please clarify?

Closest to that is Press-Art sheets. www.Streetcrafter.com

Wait so you can just use any printer and print the image on the special paper right?

why do i have to use a heat press for this type of paper why cant I just use an iron?
