Awesome phone. I use it since it got released. I got the pie update and yes the 1080p super slow motion is here, but you will not get 4k hdr, it requires sd845 to work. But anyway i think you will be pleasantly surprised by the battery endurance of the thing. Camera may not match the iphone in tricky lighting conditions where the software tricks are required, but in good lighting it can even outperform it. I use mine in 17 mp 16:9 because the full 19mp are at 4:3. A tip from me: if you are recording FHD video make sure stablisation is set to inteligent active on both cameras, because when you switch to 4k the stabilisation goes back to standard and when you go back to FHD you need to select inteligent active again. Another tip is in low light you can get substantionally better photos in manual mode by choosing slower shuter speed and lower iso with the help of some object to keep the phone stable.
I bought mine on the UK Release date in 2017, and still have it. Very happy with it and had never let me down. Absolutely superb phone and good size too.
I bought a Samsung A50 recently, and it's a nice phone, great screen, long lasting battery and all.....But, it's fkn gigantic..I can't fit it well in my pockets. It's good to have a big screen, but i can use my tablet at home. I think i'll be giving it back to Amazon (i still can) and just get the XZ1 Compact.

I'm getting one this week, currently a happy user of a XZ1. Performance will be fine in years to come, phone revolution has stopped and new phones don't offer much more than a couple of years ago. The Xperia 5 is just too tall!
Got this in used mint condition for $250. Very hard to find this phone in Indonesia since Sony mobile phones pulled themselves from Indonesia market. No regret.
I'm on it right now. Freaking love the size, fingerprint scanner, smooth ui, battery life. There are definitely some drawbacks the camera is pretty meh especially in low light. I've run into huge hardware issues from time to time. Other than that though the phone is perfect. I really wish Sony would bring the same form factor with some smaller bezels and better cameras.
@@TSTechGear Definitely. My first issue was (still is) a weird one but I have a car charger by anker that charges two devices at once. When I plug this phone in it charges fine. However, let's say I stop at a corner store and turn the car off while the phone is still plugged in. The sony turns off. The same thing also happens if I have a second device plugged in and is removed from the charging cable and the phone is still connected to its charging cable. Number two is the Bluetooth connectivity which I'm going to be honest idk if hardware or firmware, but it's not stable on multiple wireless headphones I own which can get quite annoying. Last one was recent, but my Bluetooth headphones had died so I used a wired pair. I disconnected the wired pair and it seemed as if my phone was stuck in headphone mode. I did factory reset and it didn't work. During phone calls people could hear me but I couldn't hear them. However, speaker worked just fine. I ran the system check on the xperia app and it seemed like the earpiece (top) speaker was not working. Also as I said before I tried every fix. Eventually I got frustrated and tried a non conventional approach. I gave a firm, but not too extreme tap above the top speaker and it started working again.
Great spot on review. I compared the pictures to my brothers most up to date note and it still compares well. Also the speed of the phone on the internet is great too. Sony fixed the hot phone issues from the z3 and z5 compacts before. Also, the battery life on this phone blows everything out today.

It's indeed a fantastic phone, the only issue i have with it is the front camera and i'm not the only one because i searched it up and i saw people having a similar issue with it. For some reason my front camera takes horrible quality selfies, they appear to be a bit grainy and artificial especially when you zoom the photos it's very noticeable. I used to own a Z5 compact and despite it having worse colors and less megapixels, at least the photos didn't have this grainy and artificial effect on them. Does anybody have a similar issue with the quality of the front camera? it's not like it's unusable, i just find it funny that a phone like the Z5 compact that came out in 2015 is giving me better quality.
I can agree with that, the front facing image quality is not great for photos. BUT, at the same time, I think most selfie front facing cameras on smartphones are bad. I will say that that front facing video recordings are pretty good however. Especially the active stabilisation. more stable, with better colors and sharper than with my iphone 8 (!)

@@TSTechGear Silver. I never thought color alone would influence my opinion of a smartphone's design but black just works around the phone's noticable bezels. Any other color only hightlights them.
My xz1 compact would have been my favorite phone ever but the body of it split on the back side simply from me taking the case on and off to insert and take out the sim and sd cards a few times. If that never happened my only cons would have been that there is NO wifi calling and NO wireless charging.
Nice video! I love my xz1c! I don't like big phones! Just a few points to complain about: camera is a bit weak, inbuilt storage is just 32gb considering it was a mini flagship they could give you 64 GB and Pie update is not good, now my NFC is not working and it says my phone is not compatible with Google pay, so I can't use pay terminals, hope Sony will fix that. I paid 377€ for my device which was also quite good at the beginning it was 600€. Pity Sony dropped the compact line now will be waiting for the folding clamshell phones (I hope they will become affordable in 2 years)

Great phone, I got one for £120 second hand grade A in the UK. The ONE thing I don't like is they took away the FM radio, which was always awesome on Sony phones.
Search for one every day to find a decent price, that's what i did until i found one on amazon for 270 euros but it was from a random seller, not amazon. I agree though it's difficult finding one.
Can you also do battery testing on this phone on Oreo and then on Pie? There seem to be a lot of mixed results from various XZ1 Compact users reporting worst or better battery drain. I am using xiaomi redmi 4x, it is very compact as well, but recently I wanted to upgrade and I tried Samsung A40 which is also relatively compact but I can't stand that stupid 19.5:9 aspect ratio, because my finger can't comfortably reach the top of the screen, and I just couldn't get used to "tall" look of the phone with 19,5:9 screen. Otherwise it could be a decent compact phone. Since when 16:9 aspect ratio became "obsolete", look at Xperia 1, it has 21:9 aspect ratio. Looks so stupid, do people really want that?!

I don't play games anymore so I am just in search of phones that have a better experience for me and my activities like messaging and social media. It has an unibody metal design, right? If it's on the XZ1, it should be on the XZ1 compact too.
Its unibody glass fiber plastic and it has metal on the top and bottom of the phone.

Could you or anyone outside Brazil give me a right and precise information where I could be buying it in new condition (Never used) closed in the original box with all its accessories available to be paid by Pay Pal method? I have realized that although the newest Sony XPerias are more sophisticated in terms of technology like for example: Xperia 5 and Xperia 10, they are not so beautiful and (compact) like XPeria X compact and Xperia XZ1 compact. Maybe that`s why I have just noticed that many people here in Brazil would like to buy an Xperia XZ1 Compact too! Thank you very much for your attention. @@TSTechGear I have the first Razer. The resolution and refresh speed is top notch and the speakers are phenomenal. I don't play games anymore so I am just in search of phones that have a better experience for me and my activities like messaging and social media. In other words, the phone is overpowered for my every day use and I miss being able to just scroll through my social media with one hand 😂
