I have watched 2 -3 billion videos on this topic, no, I think it was actually more like 4 billion :-), but no one has explained it as well as you.
I also used a few pros, without success.
you have the gift and ability to explain things simply and understandably. that's just great . thank you.
too bad i live on the other side of the world in munich in germany, otherwise i would drop by for a quick visit

Love the simplicity of your lessons as always. Nice and easy to visualise with the 45-degree alignment stick!

That slice... what a nuisance it is for many golfers, and this problem can ruin your round.
Merci Brian pour ce conseil qui servira à certains d'entre nous !
    Bon golf et bonne journée.

Very useful, thanks Brian. My coach got me imagining a pain of glass where your alignment stick is, that I had to smash. Have a great week!

That is also a good thought.
It could be messy on the video front cleaning up the broken glass though....🙂

Thanks Brian - yes indeed I remember you showing me this principle; if I stick to it I usually stay reasonably straight. The other side is if I overdo the procedure I'll end up going left!

Excellent explanation and demonstration Brian on what produces a slice with driver. I do on occasion get a push rather than a slice and that's because I don't get the toe of the driver turning over. I was surprised to see your tennis racquet out there. I just recently bought a ping pong paddle to practice your recommended drill. Two great minds thinking a like. I like that! :-)

I use whatever I have on hand that day John.
Sometimes it's table tennis and other times it's a tennis racket.
      The concept remains the same.

Hi Brian. Great video as always. I just had a lesson on Friday and was told I need to have an in to out swing path with all clubs. Your tip with the driver was what my teacher told me which is so helpful. What would you suggest with the irons? Similar to have the right hand come through? (obviously without shoulder tilt). It’s just to get a mental image of where the club path should be. We used a water bottle just outside the ball (to the top) and tried to hit the ball without hitting the bottle, which works. But it’s not practical while playing. Any tip would be appreciated. Peter

The swing should be the same for both (the set up is different).
A great drill I use is the back to target drill. It's a little weird but it works a treat.

Not to get too far into the weeds, but WHY would the club face be staying open to the path? Is the body turning too fast ahead of the arms? Is the body stalling out so the swing isn't completed? I suppose it's different for everyone, but what are some of the things I could look at to understand WHAT I need to stop doing so what you showed can happen.

    • @fitzygolfpro

There are many reasons for this Jeff.
The most common being that as an Aussie Golf Coach in Australia I see many clients that have played cricket in their youth. Keeping the bat straight is what is instilled in us as kids. It does not work at all in golf.
The other common reason is people are trying to hit "straight" so they are trying to keep their club face square at impact. They just get it squared up a little late.
The order of movement in the Kinematic sequence is hips, shoulder and hands. They just fire the hands a little late.
That's why I use the tennis racket or a table tennis bat, Everyone releases these early.
The other major contributor to this is the concept of "LAG".
People tend to "lag" for too long and it is ruining their golf and introducing some shanks with irons.
      I hope this helps Jeff.
      Brian
