Congratulations. I was really hoping it was a MK8 R so I can copy your build but the GTI is basically the same minus the bigger Continental turbo and the AWD. I’m more then excited to follow all your videos

Congrats to your new daily! Since I have 2 Audis and 1 Vw I have noticed som differences. First of all you will find better quality in the Audis. Many things are alike but Audis have more of nice features even if you have a very well equipped car. The biggest difference in my opinion is the automatic transmission. I have the same engine in an Audi and in my Vw but they feel like totally different cars to drive. The DSG is not as agile and quick. Lets see if you notice the difference.
Well seeing as this VW GTI comes with a DQ381.2 and my RS3 comes with a DQ500, I don't expect it to drive the same. So far I can tell the build quality is not as good just from the initial fit and finish.
My biggest problem/concern with everything going to the single, digital screen is - what if it breaks? There are at least enough steering wheel controls/etc. that you could get by on infotainment type functions, but what about the air/heating controls??

Not sure how long it will take before you come up against the limitations of FWD. I suspect not very. I think an R would be a much better car to build, except for the fact that VW isn't serious about offering them in Canada. I was considering purchasing a 2023 Golf R 20th Anniversary Edition, but VW only allocated 3 to Vancouver and the dealer markup was obscene. Sorry, not interested in getting a** r*ped by greedy dealerships. I ended up getting a low mileage 2020 M2C for less than an R would have cost. The M2C is more car for less money and it's RWD, which is way more fun.
Hey, if you want to pay the difference for an R for me, then I'll trade in the GTI in a heartbeat! Seeing as I know that won't happen, I'm perfectly content with my traction limited GTI.

I know it is your daily car. But you shouldn't be about performance if you break stuff and can't afford it to be fixed.
