Since I am in my last semester of grad school, I have about a thousand huge projects to work on and can only hold a thought for about 10 seconds at a time before I forget it, having a little brain dump notebook next to me literally ALL THE TIME. I have a bunch of mini notebooks and I have turned these into sticker books. I've got quite a few of those mini sticker sheets from Aliexpress and I have taped/glued the whole sheet onto a page, organized and practical 👍
Ever since uni, i've been using small notebooks. It's like a necessity for me! Works as an effective and handy catch-all for all info and deadlines to keep track of without having to open my planners/calendars. I do have digital organizing apps now but before smart phones existed, these little babies helped me survive. 🥰🥰
Small notebooks used to be my faves. Back in my uni days, I wrote a ton of short stories and developed long ones esp when I’m on the 2-hour bus-to-train commute. I also wrote for film projects. I have a box full of small notebooks I’ve used for writing and sketching and I can’t dispose most of them for sentimental reasons lol
I've been blessed to regularly receive advance reader copies of book to read and review, so I'm always reading several at a time, and had deadlines for each. I use tiny notebooks to keep me on task. Originally, I used collection pages in my standard Bullet Journal, but I didn't carry that around with me daily. The tiny notebook allows me to keep a close eye on my deadlines.
I use a mini journal for notes on my fountain pen hobby. I record my experiences with different pens, different nibs and inks. It's useful to write with the inks that I am comparing right next to each other.
I use a Midori MD B6 Slim as my journal for the exact reasons you gave about journaling. Less intimidating, but still plenty of room to write and decorate.
I actually totally use mine for brain dump notebooks. I write down all my random ideas for storyline, new characters, random "oh crap gotta remember that" stuff too. (I used denim cover pocket notebooks. Super durable for a back pocket notebook) Then transfer the good ideas or ones I want to expand to the bigger notebooks, which is usually either a moleskin, rocketbook or straight to Google docs
That journal habit thing is just what i need. I've been on and off this journaling habit and even sometime makes the experience somewhat a chore. Even though the TN regular size is'nt big enough but most of the time i struggle to fill the whole page with my thoughts. So definitely will look for smaller notebook for my journalling
I agree! Bigger notebooks are so daunting to use, so I tend to not fill them up (until years later). I bought an M-sized Rollbahn note last year, and used it as a Commonplace + Brain dump notebook; helped me a lot because it was easy enough to carry, and keep on my person all day. So now I have to buy some every year (one M-size lasts me 3 months)
I recently bought a "passport" holder that includes card slots and a bill fold area. It's just barely large enough for a 3.5" by 5.5" pocket notebook. It serves as my on the go journal as well as a wallet.
I love the recipe book! I have been looking for an alternative idea for my recipe cards. Never liked those index card boxes which in my opinion were old fashion & took up too much space. This is everything I wanted for storing my recipes! Can’t wait to order!!! 💃🏽💃🏽💃🏽
I was thinking this would be a great place to write down the recipes that I find on the internet or TV. As I try each one I could move then to other binders according to my planed use of the recipe eg: fast & easy, good for potluck suppers, holiday/special event dinners, breakfast etc. They would be convenient for throwing into a drawer.
I haven’t ever considered all the uses and reasons specific notebooks and notepads are made growing up, as I was a silly aspiring artist who constantly used pencil and whatever pens I could find when I had the chance. In retrospect and with this video I definitely understand things a lot better, thanks random youtube recommendations for leading me down this rabbithole!
I use the small L19 as a time blocking journal for my thesis. If I fall off of planning and focus, this is one way to get me back into the work habit. I stumbled on doing this with a really bad boss that questioned my work ethic. So I was tracking my time in 10 min intervals. That was too much time spent recording, so I shortened it to fifteen minute intervals. I can then later move the blocks of time into my JT days timeline, with more notes on the right side of the page and a todo list on the left side. Wish I could show you pictures, but alas, RUclips will not let me, and I gave up anything to do with Facebook except messenger. Also cut twitter.
Yay! I use the Ro Biki notebook as my reading journal - it's small enough that I can tuck it into the cover of my A6 Hobonichi. And then I can drop both of them into my handbag. Win/win
I have this one journal which I use as my everything book, when I want to study I rewrite notes in it, when learning a new language I write my notes in it, I have a bunch of brain dump pages, wish lists, book ideas, book lists, to do lists, pretty much everything on it
Lol I was actually thinking about upgrading my tiny notebook. Their value is unmeasurable in the legal field! It goes with the brain dumping, but when a client is talking (and they typically pop out of anywhere) it’s helpful to have a pen and paper to document facts, keywords, and initial thoughts. I have my go-to pocket pen(cil)s (a Pilot E95s, a Pilot Coleto, and a uni color 3 pencil), but I’ve been looking for a better mini notebook.
Yes!!! I have a commonplace book and love looking back at it whenever I want to feel sentimental :) I also keep small notebooks for gaming strats, character builds, toukenranbu formulas, etc LOL
I use one of the small Apica's for my JetPens purchases. Especially for fountain pen inks & tablets such as my beloved Mnemosyne Today's Act Note Pads. I use them for my crafting inventories, paper cutting dies, stamps, ink pads & reinkers, etc. I love the N196A(Top spiral) & N197A (Side Spiral). I use the Maruman PUO plastic binder with different paper & pockets to track my favorite Pilot 5 point Hi-Tec-C 0.5mm multi-pens & Pentel i+ multi-pens along w/all of the colors & line widths of the refills. I am going to buy the last small notebook you show for To-do lists with the cover next. Thanks for more great ideas!
I use tiny notebooks for keeping passwords, keeping track of documents that I acquired like visas, FBI background check (dates of when things were paid for, sent, and received) when I was leaving the country for work it was really helpful) , keeping work notes for documentation (work bully) or keeping notes for when you’re training in a new position. When I used to write poetry, I kept a tiny notebook for jotting down random lines. I even used them to write ideas for my thesis and ancestry research . I usually buy the thinner Moleskins that come 3 in a pack, but now I really like grid paper to keep my handwriting together and I want to use something that is fountain pen friendly.

Grocery lists! I have tiny notebooks at hand so I can write down what I need easily, and I won't forget when I got out or order stuff online.
I love my Expanded Moleskins (A5) but my favourites were the now discontinued Miquelrius 6x8 soft bound covers. I love chunky and small stuff and I greve that these were discontinued so I am constantly on the lookout for a replacement:) I found Midori MD notebook diary a very good choice - the paper bears almost everything without a bleedthrough (except alcoholic markers). I use this as a commonplace book and a writer's book where I keep my notes and also my poems and all that stuff, so maybe it's a brain dump after all:)
I use mine for One for all things. Just write the starter date and the end date. And if I'm looking for an idea, drawing or something else just find the right one.. use it every day so a small note book like Word is just perfect I keep mine in a sleeve that holds both a ballpoint pen and a pencil.
I would LOVE a list of notebooks (binders, etc.) that have the spiral you can open because I need those in my life! I'm always too afraid to write in anything permanently bound because I make mistakes or don't like my handwriting but can't tear it out without it being obvious. Like the Kokuyo, Lihit Labs, or Maruman ones.
I do love mini notebooks since I'm little, and this video is so cool 🥰 I found it bc I saw your last post on your community hahah and I wanted to find the video! I love your content
I use small Midori books for fountain pen ink samples, meeting notes for work, and an idea book for research projects. They are small enough to easily carry around.
I would love to see a mini note with peforrated lines and a sticky back strip that you could peel off in case you needed to stick it some where to remind you of something. Love all these suggestions though. I also make lots of lists, for grocery store, target as soon as I get there, so I don't over buy.
I have been saving up for a while to go on a stationary shopping spree and now I definitely have a few more things I need to add to the list thank you!
I actually collected 2 VERY old and smol notebooks 👀 this was very helpful since I actually lost my main notebook (which was also small) which had my best and only sketches done with a pencil
I use the Word. Pocket Notebook as a 1) Left page side, Weekly shopping list. 2) Right side, Weekly to do list. At 3.5" by 5.5" they are just about small enough to fit in a back jeans pocket. That makes them perfect for carrying into a store, or just keeping on one's person all day. It is also a way to have a general list of things that need to be done at some point during the week, that don't have a specific time table. If you find yourself scrolling through the internet looking for some content to consume, pull out your notebook and see what you need to do instead. 🙂
Lol, though I have numerous tiny notebooks to use for brain dumping and to-do lists, I oddly end up using any nearby scraps of paper, envelopes in particular, because I tend to like the papers texture. It has a good resistance drag feel with any pen, pencil or marker used when I write, so my handwriting looks neater and feels more controlled.
I have a tiny happy planner notebook that I keep in my pocket all the time. It usually has shopping lists, or where I park my car. I like slightly bigger small notebooks to keep track of anything else.
I actually use my small notebooks to write down important details discussed during meetings, random ideas, trivia or knowledge tidbits. I really hate forgetting certain details so I make it a habit to write everything down if necessary.😊
You can use them for passwords/usersname. Thats what I use my little note book for. You put down the website or whatever the password is for and take it out when needed. I started this in second grade because I always forget my password and things. Years later im still doing this. Mostly now because I forget a name of a website like mangago or something. Also if you buy manga or something in person you can take the tiny book and see what volumes you have or don't. That was a lot.
Haha I always wondered how the heck do people keep track of which volumes they have if it's really long like One Pieces Especially when I see people inside Barnes and Noble because they can't just look at their shelf
I use the mini notebook to list down the categories of anything related to teaching, such as stamps, stationeries, washi tapes. Thank you, Jet Pens and blessings 🙏🎉
i have a brain dump notebook, but like 80% of what i write in it is entirely incomprehensible when i go back to it later. things like "angst. you know the one." and "snail polish" with absolutely no context
I used a tiny notebook with glitter paper cover (that has a plastic cover and is decorated with a flower sticker) to note down any information about patients' info and consultant advice at work. People always say my notebook is really cute and handy ☺️
When I'm at work and have to switch desks with coworkers, I always write down all the open tabs into my field notes. Looking back at it is a fun snap shot of my brain during that particular day.
I keep an A6 notebook in my pocket at work (I'm a theatre technician). I use it for everything from writing down tasks that I need to do but can't do right now to writing down which lights are used for lighting a particular scene so I can program everything into the lighting console later.
I keep a tiny notebook in my car to record stats each time I gas up- overall mileage, mileage since I last filled up, total cost, number of gallons, price per gallon. I also record oil changes in it. My mom uses a tiny spiral to keep track of books she owns by some of her favorite authors so if she sees one of their books for sale, she can check if she already owns it.
I like a tiny notebook and try to have one with me at all times. It’s basically a mind dump but also a place to write things that I notice and reminders.
I wanted to share that I use mine little notebooks for dictee (in French) too. Most easy dictees only cover 1 or 1.5 pages. I love shopping at Jet Pens for everything! 🥰
How do you always seem to create videos with tips for questions I currently have? I usually use an A5 journal, but I wanted to try a a mini notebook that can fit in my pocket. Currently, I use it mostly for to do lists and notes, but I'm trying to make it as a small journal as well.
I use them at work, they easily fit in my pockets and are very helpful to write down things I need to do, deal with, calls I need to make, things I need to pass along in report to the next shift.
Anything bigger than A6 is a hassle for me: too big for comfort in any of my bags and too much space for me to write as my handwriting is not big. My current, possibly permanent, journal is a custom (read DIY made from what is found in secondhand stores from paper to cover) passport size creation of 1642 pages. Used it for everything as a commonplace book, recipe book, language learning book, gardening journal (or rather a book on gardening), art study book, infrequent journal, and makeshift pillow. I wrote everything in it: personal recollections and musings, ideas for inventions, art pieces, and literature, passages from literature and philosophy, musical themes and compositions, how to do things like manufactoria and maintenance, and various personal studies of certain topics...
I have one mini notebook and I use it as a ‘story dump’ notebook. I like writing stories for fun, so whenever I have an idea I can write it down in the notebook so I don’t forget it, and then read it over later. I got the notebook at a little free library next to a swimming pool, so I actually have absolutely no idea what brand or whatever it is. I kind of think it might be out of print now, because I’ve never seen another one like it. The plant tracker seems really cool, but I think the language learner notebook would be better because the elective I’m taking is Latin which is really fun but also really hard( it has so many declensions!! This is my second year and I’m only on like the second or third!). (I have no idea how to switch accounts because I don’t have the app so I’m just stuck with moms account)
if you have small notebooks and have no idea on how to fill them up, I would say make a contact book that you can carry around. So if you are ever in a situation where you need to call someone, that will help! hopefully this was helpful 😊
I use them for rough notes when I am a busy which can then be expanded upon later when I write a piece in full they are great for brainstorming ideas 💡
Would you guys ever consider doing your top favorite waterproof brands or individual stationary items? That's assuming there isn't already a video specifically for that of course lol.

I needed this video becouse a I have 2 big boxes of notebooks, and as ç'rast as I am I did buy another one today. A small one that I had not idea what to use, so now I think to write quotes and lyrics. ❤
I like to keep a Field Notes book dedicated to meal planning and grocery lists. During the week when I have sometime I would like to eat, I write it down so I am sure to get the ingredients 😋
I have tried SMOL notebooks, like Moleskine and Piccadilly, but one day, looking for a gift, I selected a Coach water buffalo passport case. It opens along the long side and has 'pockets'. When I got home, I tried carrying 3x5 cards in it, and they fit. So now, instead of a SMOL notebook, I carry my Coach passport case with 3x5 cards everywhere, and keep my Leuchtturm 1917 at my desk(s) for bullet journaling as well. Stay healthy..
I use these tiny notebooks for taking notes while I was out... Like going to an exhibition or a study tour or even while travelling (to keep it in memory)...... I always carry a tiny notebook in my purse or pocket so that I could write whatever I want, whenever I need.... 😊😊😊
I actually use two tiny notebooks at work. The first one is my task list and the second one I use as some kind of collection of all the info I need to know, since I just recently started at my job.
9. Travel notebook. Since it's easier to look up something that's written down instead of scrolling on your smartphone, I use a mini notebook to write down my itinerary, flight numbers, hotel phone numbers, places to see, etc. I can slip it into the side pocket of the bag I'm carrying.

i have been an artist for 10 years and im a notebook connoisseur yet i still get so many new ideas from here!
I keep a tiny notebook in every bag and purse as well on every desk and side table. Great for jotting down ideas.
Yes!!! I have a commonplace book and love looking back at it whenever I want to feel sentimental :)
I also keep small notebooks for gaming strats, character builds, toukenranbu formulas, etc LOL
I write about 4 letters a week, and log them in a mini notebook to help avoid excess or neglect.
One of the funniest things my wife has ever said, upon seeing a small notebook: "what are these for, haiku?"
Loved this! They are ALL so cute!!
I use the hobonichi A6 notebook for learning Japanese and it’s so perfect for me to carry around it’s just so cute and the perfect size.
Ahh thank you for making this video! The stack of tiny notebooks on my desk are finally going to be used! :D
The great thing about spiral notebooks is that it’s NOT obvious when you tear a page out
My daily journal is A6, I also keep an A6 notebook in my handbag for poetry inspiration.
I do love mini notebooks since I'm little, and this video is so cool 🥰
I found it bc I saw your last post on your community hahah and I wanted to find the video!
Maybe a pad of sticky notes with a cover/folder?
I have been saving up for a while to go on a stationary shopping spree and now I definitely have a few more things I need to add to the list thank you!
I actually collected 2 VERY old and smol notebooks 👀 this was very helpful since I actually lost my main notebook (which was also small) which had my best and only sketches done with a pencil
I use the Word. Pocket Notebook as a
1) Left page side, Weekly shopping list.
Bonjour!!! may I copy your idea? I think it's exactly what I need!!!😉😊
Good tip!!! 💡Now my 6 mini notebooks can go to use
Haha I always wondered how the heck do people keep track of which volumes they have if it's really long like One Pieces
Especially when I see people inside Barnes and Noble because they can't just look at their shelf
With a little cheap 5 star I used it for notes in a language class. I liked that because it was portable and easy for me to study when not at home
I write haiku so I can't live without them ! I've got one with me all the time. I use the ones from Maki Papers in recycled paper (France).
I always use mini notebooks for "to do lists". liked your binder style one here. love from Bangladesh 😍😍
me when i found this video: looks through all my drawers and finds empty 2021 diary:👁️👄👁️oops, oh well!
How do you always seem to create videos with tips for questions I currently have? I usually use an A5 journal, but I wanted to try a a mini notebook that can fit in my pocket. Currently, I use it mostly for to do lists and notes, but I'm trying to make it as a small journal as well.
I use them at work, they easily fit in my pockets and are very helpful to write down things I need to do, deal with, calls I need to make, things I need to pass along in report to the next shift.
tiny notebooks and journals are my favorite, I feel like they are just easier to write in.
Wowwww!!! I love it😍😍😍
I have one mini notebook and I use it as a ‘story dump’ notebook.
Hi there! Thanks for your suggestion, we'll forward it to our team. In the meantime, you might like our guides to The Best Permanent Inks: www.jetpens.com/blog/The-Best-Permanent-Inks/pt/336

I use the 2.9"x8.3" Rhodia No 8 pad for to-do and shopping lists.
That’s so useful and that’s what I am looking for 🥰🥰🥰
Just started carrying a Moleskine Cahier pocket notebook. Can't imagine life without it now!
Super useful in nursing, if you get orders from a doctor and don’t have a computer nearby or jot down quick pt updates or questions etc
I use some mini note booke as a quote book where I quote my friends out of context and include the name, specific time and date. It’s fun to bring up randomly
I needed this video becouse a I have 2 big boxes of notebooks, and as ç'rast as I am I did buy another one today. A small one that I had not idea what to use, so now I think to write quotes and lyrics. ❤
Crazy*
4:38 that binder is super cute and handy! Where did those stickers come from?
Hi there! We used these stickers:
www.jetpens.com/Livework-Stickers/ct/6229
www.jetpens.com/Dailylike-Diary-Removable-Stickers/ct/6334
I carry a pocket notebook alongside my phone... Usually to just jot stuff down for transferring later if needed.
hadn't thought of using a /tiny/ notebook for language learning. I usually use the big ones :O to include the conj. charts &c.
I use the Apica A7 and the Apica passport sized notebooks as my notes at work books, it helps keep track of tasks that need to be done each night.
I use mini notebooks as mini journals, and they can be quite useful. I also use mini notebooks as meme books, and every page makes me laugh.
I use mine to keep track of ink/ pen swatches so that I can easily see what goes with what in time for my monthly spreads :)
I actually use two tiny notebooks at work. The first one is my task list and the second one I use as some kind of collection of all the info I need to know, since I just recently started at my job.
I use them for note taking during my DND games instead of loose sheets i might loose. Also doodles when i don't commit to a full drawing.
I use a tiny notebook as a washi take sketchbook. Another one is being used as an art supply index.
I use smaller notebooks as a matter of course. My current journal is A6. That being said, changing sizes is sort of what makes it fun.
9. Travel notebook. Since it's easier to look up something that's written down instead of scrolling on your smartphone, I use a mini notebook to write down my itinerary, flight numbers, hotel phone numbers, places to see, etc. I can slip it into the side pocket of the bag I'm carrying.
mine are usually used for math problems- especially when studying out of the classroom, like for the sat. help make sure my brain doesn't mess up
