    Hi there! Good stuff in your channel. This picked my curiosity. Last year I made a phosphorescent (not flourescent) mural and charging it with a 395nm light seems to yeld good results. Now, not having the issue of what becomes visible and not and being focused only on making the strontium paint glow as bright as possible (and charging it as fast as possible), I'd wonder if you'd still recommed a 365nm light for it or if in my case stronger is just better. Actually had the idea of going with a UV-C lamp for room disinfection when no one is inside, but I guess it would do a poor job for what I have in mind?

    • @UVBlackLights
      @UVBlackLights  3 года назад +3

      If you're just charging the strontium paint both 365nm and 395nm will get the job done. UV-C should charge it as well, I'm not sure how long it'll hold the charge since I don't really play around with UV-C. In the end if you just want to charge it as fast as possible any UV light source will get the job done. Hope that helps! Thank you for watching!!

    Hey man, ive just started a little section in my room setup with dj decks and it has a slanted ceiling either side of it coming to a point and ive painted it black. Im putting posters and tapestries all over it and the wall behind it too but im not sure which light to get? Whats the safest for a bedroom and for exposure to eyes cause theres no real way to avoid it with the setup. Would it be best to line the ceiling in 5m 395 - 405 LED uv strip or use a globe or install a fluorescent?. Any ideas u have for me would be great. Also any safety options as i have a dog too :) cheers brother love ur videos.

    • @UVBlackLights
      @UVBlackLights  3 года назад

      @Jordan raiola UV strip would be good if you’re limited with mounting options for a fixture. I’m guessing the posters have no invisible dyes in them, so you can go with 365nm or 400nm. Just keep in mind 385-400nm you’ll have the purple visible light. As for safety, just don’t stare into them and make sure they’re atleast 4-6’ away from you. If you need eye protection, search for some UV protection glasses. Hope this helps, if you have any other questions, let me know!

    wow - you are so amazing with all of the questions you have commented on and answered from this post over the past 3 years! I have been searching for weeks trying to figure out which blacklights I should buy. I don't know if you'll be able to help me but figure it's worth a shot. I want to do glow in the dark pickleball in my garage. I found a cob floodlight that was recommended but I can't stomach paying $400 for one light when I might need at least two! So I have been trying to research all of my options. The court needs to be 20 feet wide by 44 feet long. I assume I should hang one light on each end - kitty corner from each other for full coverage. I'm kind of at a loss as other than that cob floodlight it looks like LED lights or strip lights are my only option and I just don't know what's going to work the best and what's going to give me my best value per dollar. Do you have any suggestions for me? Thanks so much for any advice you are able to share :)

Although if you’re buying cheap ones from Walmart then yes you’ll probably need a lot more. I would invest and pay a little more for quality, you won’t regret it.

    I work doing (NDT) non destructive testing and in order to perform certain operations I use UV lights around 265-345nm, I add fluorescent penetrant on the parts I’m inspecting and proceed to wash/rinse them under the UV lights. I usually spend about 6-8 hours daily doing this.

    Would be interested in seeing a review of the Sunlite 20-Watt CFLs. Their wavelength is 463nm, but you can get 8 of them for $53 @ HD.

      @@UVBlackLights I know better after watching your videos! :) This is the title of the item: 20-Watt CFL Spiral Black Bulbs (BLB) UV Blacklight E26 Base Party Light Bulbs (8-Pack)

      Richard More oh ok, so those bulbs are usually in the 390-400nm, but unless you have a bunch of screw in bulb sockets I wouldn’t use that for your application. How big of an area is the basement?. I have a video on UV bulbs, it might help you.

    was wondering if the 365nm LED would perform just as effectively as a Blacklight fluorescent when applied as an insect attractant ( LED Vs Fluorescent)

    • @UVBlackLights
      @UVBlackLights  3 года назад +3

      Yomi Odusanya yes, it would. It has to be 365nm though. I’m not sure how good it compares to fluorescent, but I know when I’m making these videos, flys, moths are always in my way using 365 LED.

    Great video! I am working on a ceiling mural and made the HUGE mistake of purchasing the LED black light, which is terrible if you are recreating a realistic scene. I'm painting a true to life night sky with full moon and some light clouds and tested the LED black light and everything is washed out with pink and purple. So I decided to try to find fluorescent, which is and always will be the best...and discovered that very few folks are making them or selling them. That's a real shame. Nothing beats a fluorescent black light, ever. Great video explaining the difference! I'm glad I didn't by all ten of the crappy LED's!

      Yes, most LED blacklight is trash. The only 365nm LED I know of is from Wildfire Lighting. They always have the true UV. Appreciate the kind words and thank you for watching!!

    Thanks for your video! Much appreciated. Just wanted to also ask... I have painted a wall mural (that starts from the ceiling and goes halfway down to the floor, so 3.5 meters across and 2.5 meters down). If I mount a UV light underneath the mural, to the wall facing upwards will the effect be the same? (the mount would be hidden behind my TV and was planning to shine the light upwards from there) ... or does a UV light need to hang facing the mural dead on to have the best effect?? I´m really only looking to have the mural glow - not for party lighting. Thanks in advance!

    • @UVBlackLights
      @UVBlackLights  2 года назад

      You can mount underneath, but the blacklight needs to be angled as best you can hitting your mural or else you won’t get enough spread to hit the top portion of your mural. Hope that made sense.

    Yo mang…I’m hoping to do some poster frames incorporated with black light. Your video is super informative, but I’m still at a loss for what will best suit my application

    • @UVBlackLights
      @UVBlackLights  2 года назад

      @tyler Devine do you want to put them in the frames? If it’s like a shadow box type you can use blacklight strips, I have a video on that. Or you’re just looking for a blacklight for the posters?
      If it’s just a visible fluorescent blacklight poster then you can use 365nm or 400nm, whichever you prefer.

    hey man, great video! I'm searching for a portable uv light that works well even when it's not dark, like in malls and stuff. basically I want to pull out my UV flashlight from my pocket whenever I feel like shining at something and see if there was/is saliva or mucus on it. I mean is that even possible? thank you

      Edward Park yes it’s possible, but you’ll have to be fairly close to the object if there is a lot of ambient light. You’ll want something high powered, check out my UV beast or Convoy S2+!flashlight videos that might help you decide.
