Many years ago I had a women's softball team. The girls ages ranged from 17 to 34 but most were under 20. I had the team for 14 years and most of the girls was on the team that long as well. As the girls graduated from high school and joined the working force several of them got glasses for the first time. I remember one of them felt like she didn't need her glasses to play softball and she handed took them off and put them in her bag. But as I was hitting fly balls in her direction I noticed that she wasn't moving at first and then when she did move it was too late and ball had dropped to the earth. She had been one of my best players at getting to balls very quickly. When I called her over she was in tears and admitted that she wasn't able to see the ball until it was too late for her to get to it. I asked her about her glasses. She said she had just got them the week before. She said she was told she needed to wear her glasses to drive. Since my wife was a glasses wearer something she got shorty after we started dated and she was also told she needed to wear her glasses to drive. I knew that meant she was nearsighted just like my wife. So I suggested she should try wearing her glasses to see if they would help her see the ball faster. She went and got her glasses and put them on and we finished batting practice which she lefty her glasses on for also and she didn't have any problem hitting the ball wearing glasses. I had the girls go to the positions they normally play and hit more balls to them. Now wearing glasses she easily got every ball I hit in her direction. After practice she thanked me for suggesting she should wear her glasses. She didn't think her eyes were so bad. The doctor told her that she only had a weak prescription. I pointed to my wife sitting in a folding chair wearing her glasses and I said they told my wife the same thing, but she wears her glasses all the time. I'm sure the more Brooke gets used to playing golf wearing glasses her game will improve and she will be back winning more than ever. I assume she's now wearing glasses all the time now.
