Thanks for the shout-out! As for that prayer-book's paper: it has such an odd texture and feel to it. I've found that same thing in some older Bibles with a certain kind of India paper. Just for safety, maybe better not rub your eyes after turning those pages!
@@ConvincedCatholicism I really don't have any reason to believe that kind of paper is harmful; I was being a bit facetious. I've handled Bibles with that kind of paper. But: better safe than radioactive, I always say.
Been using this book for a bit now. It’s just packed with so much, I can’t begin to use all of it. My favorite parts are probably the preparations for confession, the excerpts from the Bible and imitation of Christ which make for good go-to reading, and some of the litanies which I’m glad to have on hand. Wonderful companion for adoration as well.
@@ConvincedCatholicism yeah for sure. I’ve never been to a TLM, not really for lack of interest but just because the nearest one is almost a 2 hour drive. But this certainly makes it feel a little more accessible
I have a version of this printed 1925 & a reprinted copy from 2016. I notice the 1925 version lists in some sections after many prayers where the # of days for an indulgence which Pope gave the indulgence and what date they gave it. The reprint doesn't list who gave the indulgence, but again this only occurs in some sections. Also, the Gospels and Epistles near the back, in the reprint mentions color of vestments to use, the 1925 doesn't list that; something else is in the 1925 version there is no entry for December 8-Immaculate Conception Mass, but it is listed in the reprint. One other thing I did notice is the illustrations are very clear in the 1925 version but are more "inked" or blacked out on the reprint unfortunately. Just some various very-slight differences, but would highly recommend everyone get a copy!
This is my travel Missal. It is sufficient for vacation Mass somewhere else. Does not offer all the secrets and collects etc for the entire year. But it can get you by for a week or so on the road. I CANNOT extol enough yhe section after the Ordo of the Mass that offers alternative prayers at all the essential parts of the Mass. I use that section a lot when I attend Novus Ordo. It fills the deficiencies and gaps of the Novus Ordo text - like Offeratory. Best all around prayerbook for trad cats.
I ordered a copy from a Catholic bookstore here in Ottawa before it shut down for good. Sadly the copy I obtained was a misprint in that certain pages were not in order or missing. The bookstore did take it back and did refund me, but did not want to order another one for the fear that the next one would be similarly of a poor standard. Hopefully this is not the experience of other patrons.
This is a really interesting oddity into the pre-Vatican ii mindset and life. I have a library book sale coming up next week. I’ll see if they have any neat oddities for sale that people donate. Other than that. Happy ascension/Pentecost!
I have this book and it helped me get started with morning and evening prayer. It has so much in it!
That is awesome!!

I washed my hands immediately after the review! Thanks again

The book really is amazing. If I attened the Latin Mass more often it would definitely be my go to (aside from the breviary)

That was a groom's wedding gift
Did it say that somewhere?

That sounds incredibly rare. I have ordered several and have seen friends' copies. All in good order/condition

Yeah. It is fun to see a glimpse into that time. Happy Ascension!
