It’s an amazing guide for the era, particularly for Klingon starships (and Starfleet if you don’t have UP). Plus the background detail given for the era is just bursting with story hooks. The book caught me off guard by how useful it is.
It was from the Continuing Conversations RUclips series/podcast. The two episodes that deal with the Discovery material are: ruclips.net/video/kOLZb-IAQRo/видео.html and ruclips.net/video/e2hIs5nroKw/видео.html so most of the comments come from there. However, just due to the conversational nature of the series, it's possible that some of the stuff I heard was mentioned in other episodes. But Continuing Conversations is an amazing series so it would not be a bad idea to watch all of them!
Next on my list of STA books. I just wrapped up season one of Discovery, and I'm trying to figure out where the hate is coming from? For me Discovery places second, after TOS as far as good entertainment goes_
This is such an amazing book for the STA line and it serves as a great resource for details on the first two seasons of Discovery. As for why it gets hate, I think everyone just has their own tastes and Discovery was an unexpectedly jarring take on the franchise that many people didn't know how to react. And, sadly, a lot of the negativity got amplified by some prominent channels who make their money by keeping people angry at certain things, so that jaded the views of a lot of people, unfortunately. Discovery isn't flawless and there are a lot of justified complaints about the series, but it is nowhere near as bad as some people would have you believe. And it has a rightful place alongside all the other Trek series.
