The Bee Gees wrote this song. Australian singer Samantha Sang was the original artist who recorded it. They gave her the song to sing. The Bee Gees aren't just known for their beautiful harmonies, they're known as highly regarded songwriters with a huge music catalogue that spans four decades. They wrote specifically for other artists & there have been many artists who covered their songs like Destiny's Child with this song.
I watched The Bee Gees documentary on Showtime and I was shocked at how many songs they wrote for other artists. I knew they were amazing but that put them on an even higher level for me!
That's not his voice his voice is more soothing and soft that voice is not his , that's some one ekes PS Google Samantha sang emotion now listen to the voice you'll see its different , lara 621 find it ., also Google Samantha sang emotion video , watch you won't hear that voice, lara 621 find it .
Hahah, "Don't F with the original!" LOL! Yup, Emotion is a beautiful piece of song writing. I love the Bee Gees version. They were master song writers and produced many hits for many other stars in pop, country, R&B, dance. The Brothers Gibb are legends.
That part wass Robin. Back in the day he sang lead on many tracks, but his voice is just as unique as Barry's, you instantly know its him. And a great singer in his own right.
The Bee Gee's really are great on harmony's alone I have never heard anyone better at harmonizing a song with perfect timing. They sung a variety of songs in different style's, I liked your reaction thank you. 🇬🇧🌹
I think that was Robin. Of the 3, he had the deepest voice, when they talked in their normal voices. Man, I miss those guys. They cranked out some super love songs.
Robin Gibb is the one who sings "now that I need you". "And where are you now" are barry, robin and maurice. And the solo falsetto "it's over and done" is barry gibb. On the original by samantha sang, barry (and possibly robin) sang the falsetto.
Even the Bee Gees said that Samantha Sang's version was their favorite. Unbelievable that these brothers can write & perform other genres of music for so many different artists. You are too cute!
The Bee Gees recorded it but the Samantha Sang version was a big radio hit in the 70s. The Bee Gees production and background vocals are prominant in her recording. Same with the Yvonne Elliman "if I can't have you" song and their brother Andy's songs. They were a hit producing factory in the late 70s. I think they were involved w 6 of the billboard top 10 songs in a single week at one point. Amazing career ✌️
Right On! It was Samantha's only Hit as far as I know most notably on American Soil. In the UK folks have "Covered", or Sampled their Songs. Steps a UK Group from 1996-2001 did their Version of Tragedy that was also featured on the UK Version of The Office. Staying Alive was sampled by Praz formerly of The Fugees for "We're Staying Alive" and it was featured in the Pilot Episode of Bad Girls the UK Prison Drama 1999-2006. Sadly in 2002, singing a Bee Gees Song didn't always warrant Pop Success. In 2002 a New Boyband One True Voice recorded a Bee Gees Song and they flopped while Girls Aloud became Superstars. Diana Ross recorded "Chain Reaction" and it was a Hit in Europe and Steps also covered it as well.
The Samantha Sang/Bee Gees version was the big hit when it comes to this song. Samantha had a great voice backed up by the bee gees. It was actually written by barry and robin, but the song was credited to Samantha Sang.
Just so no one mistakenly thinks Samantha received undue credit; As the 1st person to record/release the song, she is rightfully credited as the original artist. On both Samantha’s single & album, Barry & Robin are credited as Writers & Barry’s production company (Gibb-Galuten-Richardson) as Producer. Barry is the only Gibb who sang on it. Singles don’t have space to list background singers & musicians, but in the full album credits, Barry is credited with “Harmony & Background vocal, 3 & 8” (song #3 is Emotion. #8 is When Love Is Gone).
IN 1978 EMOTION WAS A BIG HIT FOR SAMANTHA SANG WITH THE BEE GEES AS HER BACKGROUND SINGERS IT GOT TO #3 ON THE BILLBOARD TOP 100 THE BEE GEES COVER EMOTION IN 1994. SO Ms DAY ONE PLEASE CHECK OUT HER ORIGINAL VERSION
Yeah!!! sure, right comment. This song was given to Samantha Sang, back in 1978, and was her smashing hit in her own album. To many artists performed great songs from Bee Gees.
This song has been covered by so many over the years. While the BeeGee's launched it about 5 or 6 years before Disco got popular, it was Samantha Sang that brought it back into rotation
Barry and Robin Gibb are singing the lead parts. They wrote"Emotion" for Samantha Sang and the BeeGees did the background vocals. They later recorded it themselves.
Hi That's the voice of Robin Gibb. He said that he sings with his heart; so very true. Please please review their 1st #1 "Massachusetts" then "New York Mining Disaster" "I started a Joke" " I can't see Nobody" You will love them all. They are very early Bee Gees. Love your reactions, and sincerity. God Bless
The Bee Gees wrote it and Samantha Sang had a huge hit with it long before Destinys Child recorded it. Samantha Sangs version is by far the BEST in my opinion. 😎🎼🎵🎶🇨🇦🇨🇦
That was Robin Gibb singing the parts you asked about. He and his brother, Maurice are the other two brothers....plus Andy, who was their younger brother but he was a solo artist. I'm sure you know all of this by now but I couldn't help but answer anyway. Love that you ❤️ the BeeGees!
You would enjoy listening to the original Samantha Sang version with the Bee Gees singing the background vocals. That version was a big hit. The Bee Gees wrote the song for Samantha Sang and also produced it for her.
That was Robin with that b sweet voice coming in. I love this version featuring the Bee Gees. Destinys child and. Samantha sang did wonderful versions also. Your reaction is priceless. Love it.
I did not know that the Bee Gees released their own version first. It is definitely beautiful. Thank you for opening my eyes to that. I hope you'll try the Samantha Sang and Berry Gibb version of it too. It just hits different. Just more sensual and sweet. It's amazing how well her voice harmonizes with Barry's.
I love it. "Don't f*** with the original." at 5.22. Now you need to react to Samantha Sang's version with the BeeGees singing background. It's different yet.
Yes Barry and Robin Gibb co-wrote this song and the Bee Gees recorded this, their own version back in 1994 as part of an album called Love Songs which they never released but eventually did in 2001 for their greatest hits album which I actually own and have in my crate. Solo artist Samantha Sang originally recorded and released this song back in 1977 featuring vocals by the Bee Gees and it ended up being a big hit back in 1978. In my opinion, the 1977 version of Emotion that Samantha Sang recorded and released was the best one.
Originally performed by Samantha Sang with only Barry Gibb doing the background vocals. It came out in late 1970s. What you are hearing is the Bee Gees version. Of course it is different from Destiny's Child. They were just doing a cover.
Also I should add the Bee Gees have written 100!!! Top 10 hits!!! who else could say that they done that, check out Jive Talkin, their is so many more.
This song is so magical to the core. I love Destiny's Childs version of this song but loved it more when I found out that they wrote it and heard it first on the movie Roll Bounce. Bee Gee's rock
Emotion was written by the Bee gees Sung first by Samantha Sang along with a music video in 1977 Then by Destiny's Child in 2000 Then the Bee Gees did thier own version of thier own song lol in 2001
Hi Angela - The BEEGEES (B.G's stands for Brothers Gibb) - were 3 brothers, Barry Gibb, Robin Gibb and Maurice Gibb. All 3 of them did all the vocals - both falsetto and regular voice. A 4th brother - Andy Gibb (whose song "Shadow Dancing" you reviewed) - sang with them occasionally - but wasn't an official member of the Bee Gees. Barry Gibb is the only surviving brother.
That would be Robin singing that part! This song was co written by him..... Written by Barry Gibb & Robin Gibb Each "Bee Gee" had an amazing voice all on their own... Alone their voices are amazing but together their Stupendous!
The first part of the "Where Are You Now" part of the song is the harmonies between all 3 brothers, after that it is Robin's voice you hear. Then it keeps switching between harmonies and Robin.
What you were asking about in your reaction video, the singer is Robin Gibb. He is singing in his head voice during that sequence. These brothers have been training and singing with their voices since 1962.
The Bee Gees have been a band for a long time. One of the first songs to get airplay was "Spicks and Specks"" from 1966. It is easy to see the influence of another phenomenal band "The Beatles" in the song. One of the reasons the Bee Gees were so successful and long-lived was that they quickly adapted to the latest popular big trends in music and then became leaders and innovators in that type of music. Anyhow "Spicks and Specks" is pure pop music of that era, again about love and those that one loves. Bee Gees - Spicks & Specks - Official video clip - RUclips
I love Yvonne Elliman's version of this song, she sang it on the original "Saturday Night Fever" album. She also went on tour with Eric Clapton as one of his back up singers/performers in the mid to late 1970s.
This song was never on the original Saturday Night Fever album. The song came out on the Samantha Sang album, 'Emotion'. The single came out in December 1977, and the album in 1978. The album soundtrack for Saturday Night Fever was released in November 1977. You are probably thinking about the song 'If I Can't Have You' performed by Yvonne Elliman, and written by the Bee Gees. That song was on the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack album.
While the Bee Gees (or, I think, Barry, specifically) did write this song, it was originally recorded and released by Samantha Sang with the Bee Gees providing backing vocals. It was to be her one and only hit record.
I was surprised by the F-bomb, and pleased by the quick apology. Another example of how genuine and honest you are. I can't watch some channels because every third word out of the reactor's mouth seems to have four letters. As for the song, this is yet another example of something in my collection I might want to revisit. As others have said, Samantha Sang was the original artist, and the Bee Gees wrote it and sang back-up. I've never heard the Destiny's Child version, so no comment there, but I'd never heard the Bee Gees' version either, until now. Samantha Sang's version is lighter, more mellow to my ears, and I prefer it, but the Bee Gees' version, taken on its own, is good. Such prolific songwriters.
Written by the Bee Gees for the movie Saturday Night Fever, originally sang by Samantha Sang, but with the Bee Gees doing back up vocals. I like this version better, Robin is singing the first lyrics.
“And where are you now” That’s Robin. ❤️ You should check out some of their early stuff where he sings lead vocals, or he and Barry trade off. Massachusetts 1968 (this was their 1st #1 hit in the UK), I’ve Gotta Get a Message To You, and Robin’s signature song, I Started a Joke.

Another song to listen to is rocket to the moon song is like we used to it is awesome like you how do you do it by the way the talent you are such soft spoken words the passion the beauty your deep eyes say everything about you stay and never change you husband by the way is one lucky man he should know that I hope ❤
I just discovered your channel recently and I’m really enjoying your thoughtful reactions. I hope you will get around to reacting to Linda Ronstadt. You should really listen to the studio commercial version by Samantha Sang (with Bee Gees backing vocals). That one is the one that became a huge hit in the 70's, and is a much better version.

The only songwriter who is more prolific is Paul McCartney.
spans 6 decades of music
Barry is singing the falsetto. Robin is singing the "now that I need you".
Hahah, "Don't F with the original!" LOL! Yup, Emotion is a beautiful piece of song writing. I love the Bee Gees version. They were master song writers and produced many hits for many other stars in pop, country, R&B, dance. The Brothers Gibb are legends.
This song was a hit by Samantha Sang as lead. The Bee Gees wrote it and backed her up. They wrote it for her. They wrote many hits for other artists.
Samantha Sang had the hit chart topping version with the Gibb Brothers on backing vocals and chorus.
That part wass Robin. Back in the day he sang lead on many tracks, but his voice is just as unique as Barry's, you instantly know its him. And a great singer in his own right.
Absolutely love this Version, Thanks
This is Barry Gibb singing the high voice & Robin the lower voice. One of the most beautiful songs ever.
This version is from the 90s.the one I heard was with Samantha Sang, @1977.
Have a great day.
"Gee wizz - who was that other guy?" - that's what people have been saying about Robin Gibb for over 50 years.
Amazing song writers the Bee Gees. So talented.
The voice you asked about was Robin's voice. Love this version.
I reckon you will like, Yvonne Elliman - If I can't have you
BEEGEES "Too Much Heaven" The greatest range and beautifulness of any beegees song ever. You have to absolutely listen to it and watch the video.
Robin Gibb is the one who sings "now that I need you". "And where are you now" are barry, robin and maurice. And the solo falsetto "it's over and done" is barry gibb. On the original by samantha sang, barry (and possibly robin) sang the falsetto.
Your eyes when you heard Robin come in! Keep going on your Bee Gees journey, it's a long, beautiful trip. 🥰
Even the Bee Gees said that Samantha Sang's version was their favorite. Unbelievable that these brothers can write & perform other genres of music for so many different artists. You are too cute!
Bee Gees wrote this for their friend Samantha Sang (released in 1977)
the Bee Gees did their version many years later.
'Don't f**k with the original.'
🤣🤣You made me burst out laughing with that last comment of yours. Totally enjoying your reaction videos. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
its all the bee gees singing in the song. No outside voices from no one else.
That beautiful voice is the wonderful Robin Gibb!!
When you asked who was singing when you were pointing your finger. That is Robin Gibb. Then when the vocals changed it was Barry Gibb
The Bee Gees recorded it but the Samantha Sang version was a big radio hit in the 70s. The Bee Gees production and background vocals are prominant in her recording. That was Robin singing. I love his voice. You should try “I Started a Joke” from 1968 where Robin sings lead. I love that song. Thanks for sharing!
Yes true. The best version of this, IMO, is the one sung back to back with 'First of May'. Just magic.
I was thinking this just now.
The Samantha Sang/Bee Gees version was the big hit when it comes to this song. Samantha had a great voice backed up by the bee gees. It was actually written by barry and robin, but the song was credited to Samantha Sang.

The Samantha Sang version with Bee Gees backing her is the most famous and successful version.
You are beautiful makes me smile every time I see you. Thanks for being you.

Robin Gibb sings "that part" you are asking about.
That’s Robin. Singing “ where ever you go “ He’s one of the twins.
The Bee Gees ……very, very special, we’ll never see another!!!!!!
robin had a fabulous voice indeed
Too quivery.

In the 70's .. Very nice.. ♠W.G.
Yup!
Thank you for reacting to just the Bee Gees singing this song
That's his brother Robin Gibb who sadly died of cancer a decade ago. Only Barry, the eldest, is left.

Bee gees wrote this song for Samantha Sang and did the backup for her. If you watch it I know you will love it
Completely agree! The Samantha Sang version is better than this one
BeeGees wrote it and Robin sings the lower part in the chorus.
Lol, " don't fuck with the original"
Love it, because you are always so professional and sincere. Like that little spark at the end! Great reaction.
Great 👍😊 reaction! Spontaneous, and on the money! You got it girl 😜.
Very good!! REACT FOR WHOM THE BELLS TOLLS LIVE BEE GEES...
Please react to Bee Gees 'Fanny (Be Tender With My Love)' or 'You Win Again' or 'Alone'. So many more great Bee Gees songs for you to discover! :D
Robin has the voice that sings the middle section you're asking about. All three of them have falsetto voices as well.
Great genetics don't you think,lol.
Yes Barry and Robin Gibb co-wrote this song and the Bee Gees recorded this, their own version back in 1994 as part of an album called Love Songs which they never released but eventually did in 2001 for their greatest hits album which I actually own and have in my crate. Emotions the best I can listen everyday all day Nd it will give me butterflies 💕🤣
The solo voice is Robin
Wherever you are, & That leads to your ocean parts are sung by Robin Gibb with his unique voice
Originally performed by Samantha Sang with only Barry Gibb doing the background vocals. It came out in late 1970s. What you are hearing is the Bee Gees version. Of course it is different from Destiny's Child. They were just doing a cover.
This song is of Bee Gees and i like this
Thank you for "feeling" the music in such a genuinely lovely way. : )

For more brilliant Robin you should react to 'How do you mend a broken heart' and 'Alone'. Voice of an angel!
Lol. I like your last slip. The Bee Gees are a rare group that I could listen to all day.
Samantha Sang had the original version of "Emotion"- then DC- then the Bee Gees
yep....but the Bee Gees wrote it for Samantha Sang in the late 70s
That would be Robin singing that part! This song was co written by him.....
Written by Barry Gibb & Robin Gibb
Each "Bee Gee" had an amazing voice all on their own... Alone their voices are amazing but together their Stupendous!
DayOne, you are a bombshell.
The first part of the "Where Are You Now" part of the song is the harmonies between all 3 brothers, after that it is Robin's voice you hear. Then it keeps switching between harmonies and Robin.
I’ve only heard The Bee Gees sing this. Beautiful.
You might want to play the version with Samantha Sang in which Barry wrote it for.
I forgot how great this song is, thank you sister.
What you were asking about in your reaction video, the singer is Robin Gibb. He is singing in his head voice during that sequence. These brothers have been training and singing with their voices since 1962.

I think you'll love Fanny be tender with my love and the audio version of Tragedy.
Another great Bee Gees song is Love You Inside Out.
Outstanding, and the sony is good too!
I really like this version of Emotion.
Written by the Bee Gees for the movie Saturday Night Fever, originally sang by Samantha Sang, but with the Bee Gees doing back up vocals. I like this version better, Robin is singing the first lyrics.
Robin's lovely voice on here too..this was a big hit in the UK for Samantha Sang
Voice your asking about is Robin Gibb
“And where are you now”
That’s Robin. ❤️
You should check out some of their early stuff where he sings lead vocals, or he and Barry trade off.
Massachusetts 1968 (this was their 1st #1 hit in the UK), I’ve Gotta Get a Message To You, and Robin’s signature song, I Started a Joke.
The Bee Gees were larger than life trio , they wrote for many other artist but you DayOne Reacts must listen to Samantha Sang ( Australian ) with this song the same the Gibb brothers ceded to her and she may it iconic tune of the Disco Era .
Samantha Sang gave this song life!

Why are some people saying the Bee Gees didn't write this song? They are well known for writing songs for other artists.
bee gees paying the price of love
Haha that just slipped right out of your mouth 🤣❤️🤣
goat group
I enjoy watching because you are sooo pretty!
Brilliant
day one you are the greatest
You have to listen to the Samantha Sang version with bee gees doing back ground.
I just discovered your channel recently and I’m really enjoying your thoughtful reactions. I hope you will get around to reacting to Linda Ronstadt. She is stunningly talented and was the first female to sell out arenas in the 1970’s. From there she branched out to cover multiple genres. I would recommend starting with an early masterpiece called “Long Long Time”! Good luck with your channel! 🥰✌️
You really should hear the entire Saturday Night Fever Soundtrack, it is sensational. Watch the movie too its great.
You should really listen to the studio commercial version by Samantha Sang (with Bee Gees backing vocals). That one is the one that became a huge hit in the 70's, and is a much better version.
Your next Bee Gees assignment - Barbra Streisand & Barry Gibb - Guilty :) Try the Samantha Sang version of this one BTW :)
