I did something similar but also made a ball return track out of some aluminum tubing I found that has a cross section of 3 sides of a square tube kinda like a square U.
Perfect ball track though..

I made a catch box out of a plastic 55 gallon food barrel with a PVC crossbar that has T-shirts on it that has links of string where you can tie various targets in place
