You know, I watch MTN throughout the day, so I’m sort of used to the abuse that Agent Orange and his disciples spew against anyone who disagrees with them. But, today’s reporting around what he did to Bob Good really upset me. I’m not sure whether it was Trump’s tweets or Loomers, but my frustration level grew today to a point where I was angry and really felt the need to express it.
I’m 71 years old, a former Air Force officer and “Cold Warrior”. I was also the State Chairman of the New Jersey Teenage Republicans, back when people like Jack Kemp and Birch Bayh were “thought leaders” in the GOP. I worked for Nixon’s campaign as well as Reagan’s.
I left the Republican Party in the late 1990s mostly because of Newt Gingrich who successfully taught Republicans the politics of confrontation instead of compromise. IMO, he is the root cause along with Rush Limbaugh and Fox News for today’s GOP and the rise of Captain Bonespurs.
Todays GOP is so bad that merely putting and “R” after your name for party affiliation should be disqualifying for ANY candidate. Anyone who can still do that has no conscience whatever and is, in my book, a traitor. Does that sound too shrill or too extreme? Well, If you stand with Putin, you can’t stand for America. Mic drop.
We seem to want to protect the feelings of today’s GOP by bending over backwards to find “nice” ways to refer to its more depraved individuals, and now, all of its members. “Extreme MAGA Republicans”, and “Magadonians” seem to be preferred among the media and politicians. I propose that, at last, let’s calls them what they are: MAGAts (pronounced like “maggots”). Seems fitting, doesn’t it?

Everyone must call their local Voter Registration Office and check on the status of your vote. Some states have changed their voting regulations. For example, if you have moved recently, you must re-register to vote,whereas before it was automatically done. And you won't know until you go to vote that you're not registered. Purging of votes for simple spelling mistakes. Check to make sure your name and address are spelled correctly. I couldn't remember if I used my middle initial in my registered signature because signatures must match perfectly with the signature in their files. Don't let them take your vote! They wouldn't be trying so hard to take it from you if it wasn't important! VOTE!

I used to wonder how German citizens ended up supporting and participating in the atrocities of WW II. At the same time, I was completely certain that America could never go down that path. But the parallels between Trump and Hitler are chilling.
In real time, we saw Trump whip his supporters into a blood frenzy and the tactics he used to do so. J6 was proof of Trump's endgame, to seize absolute power and hold on to it indefinitely.
I fear that we are now witnessing the bridge between rhetoric and coup, the guts and inner workings of Trump's authoritarian machine. The posts Ben presented are terrifying to an unprecedented degree. I know this probably doesn't much sense. I don't know how to convey my thoughts on this. I just feel like the wheels of tyranny are in motion. The talk of 100% loyalty and punishment, and the fact that others are echoing Trump in stark terms, make me feel like the ante has been upped. I truly believe we've reached a flexion point. Throw Project 2025 into the mix, and we're right back where the world was a century ago.
Did anyone else feel this way upon reading those posts?
