Jeep Sledding?! (Winter Super C RVing)

- Wandering Wagners go Super C Winter RVing, Jeep Sledding, and Cake Baking(Oh my!) on our latest RV road trip! The Super C RV made it out of the driveway in the snow! So that means we are back out for another Winter RVing trip for some off the grid living and camping! When it comes to RV life on the road you always hope for the weather you want. We were hoping for negative temps that they were calling for, but then the forecast changed of course so it was just in the low teens and single digits instead. We wanted to put the Wraith to the cold weather test, but maybe in another few days.
We decided while en route to go to Ouabache State Park, in Bluffton Indiana. We were the only campers in the park and we had a great time exploring, hiking, sledding, and JEEP sledding!
Mike showed off the new outlet he installed which allows us to run more electric heaters inside, and the furnace didn't run once!
I decided since it's Valentines Day Weekend that I'd bake something special for us. I had yet to bake a cake in the convection oven, so that's exactly what I did! Rum Cake! and it turned out absolutely delicious. _____________________________________________________________________________________ ________

They rode in the Jeep instead. Piper can't be trusted to run and she likes to bite the sled or the boots of whomever is riding in the sled lol Guy would just bark because Piper would be wanting to attack the sled. This was more fun for everyone😂😂

Thank you! That means a lot😊 if we let weather stop us, we'd almost never get to get out there. So happy we have the setup both at home and with the RV that allows us to go as often as we wish!

I really enjoy your winter camping escapades! We had about a foot of snow here in Canada’s banana belt. Melting now but was very pretty over the weekend.
We just got dumped last night and now have about 18" on the ground!

We see deer mostly, other small things like birds, squirrels, chipmunks etc. Nothing huge here

Confection ovens are great to make with because the air blows all around the food to help it cook better and it's healthier

I think it is time to start including the recipes for all these delicious looking baked treats. Especially in the RV convection oven.

@@WanderingWagners You could start your own cooking channel. I always watch how you make them but measurements and cooking times are not always visible. Just got a Renegade Super C with the convection and have never used one.
Lynn, it seems like you're not having many issues with the convection oven. That's good because propane ovens are getting harder to find. Keep the good stuff coming.
Yeah it has really worked out well for us! So happy it has too. We have considered adding an oven because that way I'd have "double ovens" in the RV, which would be awesome! Haha but so far still happy with just the convection
@@WanderingWagners Never thought about the double oven thing. I got rid of one when I bought my last house and there were times I regretted it. I'm just thinking that the propane oven might be good when you don't have electric but you guys seem to be mostly in parks. We'll see I'm going to look at a 2020 Ghost today.
Yeah plus we have the generator that we run if we don't have power. Like when I did laundry on the road😁

Some parks have lower off season prices, some do not. State parks are generally pretty affordable and a lot of the Indiana ones we've been at lately have been $20 or less per night

Being a Hoosier native and a history buff I've always said "Wabash" for that spelling. We're loving the Indiana State Park camping. If you've never been to Chain Of Lakes State Park or Deem Lake State Recreaction area, check them out
We were debating between chain o lakes our Ouabache for this trip! Haha I'm sure we will be back for more Indiana parks soon!

We have Wabash stuff in Massatucky, we pronounce it harder. As in to hit or bash. It doesn’t matter, potato potato.
The NE accent pronounces things differently sometimes😁 it's all good though!

Yeah we noticed that on the trails... We said we weren't hiking... Just walking😂 but it was fun regardless!
I grew up near there. It was originally a city / county Park. They raised pheasant to release. The bison were keep in pins near the lake. The fire tower has opened and closed many times over the past 60 years as it weathered and was repaired. 😎

Neat trick on the extra outlet on a different breaker. The cake looks yummy. You seem to be getting the hang of the convection/microwave oven. It makes me think I need to update old my microwave in the house fora newer convection version.
If and when the microwave in the house stops working, I'm putting in a housemate

The outlet for a 2nd electric heater is awesome. We added an outlet for the same purpose in our 5th wheel but it’s attached to an inlet on the outside of the camper to receive an extension cord from the 20 amp outlet most campsites have at the post. It works out great cause it’s a stand alone power source and doesn’t take anything away from the camper. We got the idea from RVGeeks a couple years ago. Pretty cool stuff. Mike added an outlet in the dump Bay when we got the Wraith too for the electric heater we run out there! Not sure why RV MFG put everything on 1 line if it's a 50a trailer but oh well. Makes it so much nicer to have things split between lines!

A difference in what, the cook times, temperatures, or quality?
Cook times will vary but are usually faster in the convection vs home oven. Cook temps are either the same or lower than a regular oven. And everything we've had has turned out so good quality wise! We are very happy with it and have cooked many things shown in videos since we got it in May
Lovely cake! How long did it take for your convection oven to reach desired temperature? The rv we own now has a convection which seems to take forever to reach temp....i miss my camper stove but you have inspired me to try again. Thanks
Depends on the temp but generally speaking I'd say it takes probably 15 minutes to get to temp. I was hesitant to not have a regular oven but so far this convection oven has been able to do everything! Some things take longer or need lower temps vs regular oven but I've been quite happy with my Hisense connection!

The opening scene where you questioned whether you were going camping or not, whether you could make it up the driveway, was cute, but with the Jeep pushing the Wraith, we all knew you’d make it. Piper seemed a tad worried about the bison, and decided to do some bluffing. She scared them stiff.

I think Mike is doing just about the same on camera time, but we use a different camera and I do all the editing so he will record something and give me the files and then his work is done. It seems to be working out better for both of us! Glad you think my editing is comparable😁

I checked their paws and they didn't seem bothered after 6 miles this trip...I was surprised because I was going to put in booties but didn't have to... Yet!

We could chain up, although we haven't needed to yet. We also don't own any tire chains but it's not a bad idea with the winter camping that we've done
Is the wraith 4wd. I believe Nexus makes a 4wd correct?
The Wraith is not. None of The bigger chassis are 4x4 but the smaller ones on pick up chassis and slightly bigger like the Nexus rebel can be 4x4.
Now I want rum cake.

Sorry anther question. Hubby wants to know if, with your two space heaters, how much window sweating occurred? Freezing inside? Thanks
With the electric heaters, there was much less Window condensation compared to using the furnace often. We do talk about how warm it got inside with just the heaters, and how Mike added another outlet on its own breaker so we could run the space heaters on high. It was in the 70s without much effort! We also have a space heater in our dump Bay which keeps the gray and black tanks toasty warm and the fresh tank is under our bed

We live in Fort Wayne. I was there in November for a 13k trail race. On your way north into town. A pretty good restaurant with a train out front.
We didn't venture to restaurants this time but we will keep it in mind for future trips! Thanks😊
Is your rig winterized or is it a four season rig?
It's not winterized. We use it fully in every season. I don't think it's technically considered 4 season but we have done a few mods that make it easy to camp in Winter/cold weather! We have a small space heater in the dump Bay which keeps the black and gray well above freezing and our fresh is under our bed so it stays above freezing etc
If nobody is there, do you still have to pay? Is that like if a tree falls in the forest?

Mike's are Keen Pittsburgh model, and Mine in this video are just Walmart boots lol but I normals wear Altra shoes for hiking but might get different ones for snow because the Walmart ones aren't great for longer hikes

We haven't had to chain up but we might have go to that route🤪 pretty much all State parks are open but electric only, and only certain sites are open
What are campground fees for winter camping?
It varies by park. Some have lower rates for Winter, some don't. State parks are generally cheaper than private parks. This park was $23/night
