Please don't assume all individuals with nonverbal autism are 'low-functioning.' There are many other ways to communicate other than speaking. Also, please stop using autism functioning labels.
Justice has nonverbal autism but has found the ability to communicate via a text to speech device. Now that he's transitioning to adulthood he hopes he may be able to one day find a job at a coffee shop. :)

Hi so this is a genuine question, why did his mom say he doesn't have a low iq if his favorite show is paw patrol, a preschool show? I mean this respectfully I am legitimately confused

Because for the way he acts and responds he can be seen as having a lower IQ that he does, my daughter is the same, I haven't been able to teach her to type so id say her IQ is lower, but I cant tell, cause she can say words sometimes but not sentences or more than one word at a time, she can say tea, chocolate, mum, dad, cook, she can say all the colours if I ask her to one at a time, but she can be very non responsive and push me away aswell, she doesn't keep eye contact for more than maybe 5 seconds, yeah that's the best way I can reply to you.

This is so cool to see he is able to communicate his thoughts and his feelings in this manner I have a hard time just trying to figure out things but I have multiple problems wrong with me like borderline personality disorder bipolar to PTSD generalized anxiety disorder and major depressive disorder and dissociative identity disorder which has started to go quiet for some reason my alters and I may have or may not have autism my life literally from childhood auto has been a complete train wreck and I am legally blind and I’m also transgender MTF male to female
